An absolute brilliant stay. The hotel is in a perfect location to explore the city. The staff are very friendly, and the Deig Bakery and Le Kock good places in the lobby are brilliant.

This hotel was perfect! It’s located just across the street from bus stop 4 and has beautiful views of the harbor and Mt. Esja. It is perfectly located so that you can walk to many restaurants, shops, and is just a 20 minute walk to the bus terminal. The walk to the bus terminal takes you past a beautiful lake! Breakfast was provided every morning and was delicious! They offered fruit, cereal, skyr, fish, bacon, sausage, pastries, cinnamon rolls, beans, eggs, coffee and juice. The first floor of the hotel has a great burger restaurant, bakery, and bar. All were delicious! Will definitely be staying here for our next trip to Iceland!

Exeter Hotel is a good choice for solo women travelers as all entrances, elevators etc. are only accessed with a key card. Easy pick up/drop off for day tours directly across the street from the hotel at Bus Stop number 4. The staff is helpful and supportive. I would have liked to have been given a heads up that in winter there may be condensation on the windows and glass doors which can lead to pooling of water. Otherwise it was a great experience.

My room was cleaning comfortable. I loved that the door opened for Greg air even though there was no balcony. Front desk was SUPER helpful on a number of requests. Convenient coffee shop and restaurant downstairs. I didn’t use them, but the sauna was a big plus in a small boutique hotel. Convenient to downtown and lots of shopping and restaurants. Adorable “greenhouse dining” outside. Controlled access to guest floors. As a woman traveling alone in Iceland for the first time I felt safe. Hotel transfer pick up just across the street. I would definitely stay here again.

Not good stay. Poor property.

The lighting in the room was less than we are used to but do appreciate the efforts of the hotel and country to be green .

Convenient to most everything in Reyk, it nicely apportioned and staff was very helpful. Parking is a bit of an issue and may require some walking. Otherwise a nice place to stay and would come again

Absolutely loved our stay here. Amenities are many and well thought out. There’s a delicious cafe attached to the hotel as well as a bar. Also many other restaurants and shops in area as is in a very central location. Only downside is parking is additional fee 35 euros but there are free parking spots a few minutes away. Would stay again!

Our suite was spacious and beautiful with great espresso machine, pillows & duvets. We had a wrapping deck over looking the harbor and we even saw the faint (city lights) northern lights on the deck. We had booked an extra bed as part of the booking and they were going to charge an extra $90 Euro per night - but they decided not too as they had communicated and confirmed this arrangement prior in writing (this may have been a very different review). The breakfast was great! But the location was the best part walking distance down the main street and so many attractions or hop on a scooter. Would definitely stay here again.

Love:d sauna. Live band. Onsite cafe & restaurant. Lockers for luggage. Location.

I continue to stay at this wonderful hotel not only because of the great location, comfortable rooms, amazing breakfast and bakery but mainly because of the awesome attitude of the staff. Highly recommend allowing the front desks help with vacation planning, they are awesome!

Amazing Property in a great location near bus stop #4 which was very convenient to get on the tours and near great restaurants

It was a good location. Breakfast wasn’t included and parking wasn’t free either. The fire alarm went off at 1am, so that made our stay not so enjoyable.

We had a lovely time at the Exeter in Reykjavik. The staff is beyond friendly and helpful. Front desk staff, Alena and Van Hai were the best! They addressed little issues promptly and with a smile. They were so joyful, and we appreciated their patience with our questions. I would recommend that you were rooms that aren’t on the first floor though. Iceland has incredible geothermal capabilities. In certain instances, it warms things. During the winter, it might be great to have this extra heat. We were there in August. While outside temps were in the 50’s, our room was a bit toasty. Alena and Van Hai offered another room, one floor up. But we departed the next day and opted to stay in our 1st floor location. There was a fan that helped enormously. Lastly, Exeter has a convenient restaurant and bar. Food and ambiance were top-notch! Huge thanks to Exeter staff (Chris included)!

Our second stay here. We got a room on the main floor (street level). A little loud when windows are open. Missing a few things such as lock box and robes which we had at our last stay. Overall the rooms were clean, amenities and staff were great.

Not fancy but clean. The staff were OUTSTANDING!. Location is great, downtown close to sights, shopping and restaurants. Great bagel and dougnut shop.

Very nice hotel.
Easy walk to most main attractions of the city.
Everything was very clean and in good working order. If I am in Reykjavik again this would be my first choice for a place to stay.

Everyone is so kind and helpful at Exeter hotel.
If there was anything you needed help with they would solve it quickly.
The duvet and pillow was so nice, we want the same at home.
Location was perfect, close to everything.
Monday night is jazz night in the bar so it’s very busy and fun,
Thank you for 5 great days.

Great location for walking to many tourist sites. Clean. Rooms small and even deluxe room was poorly laid out so that it seemed cramped. Big problem for us was that the rooms were always too warm even with radiators off. Had to leave window open to cool off but that made it noisy. Breakfast reasonable but not wonderful.

If I am lucky enugh to come back to Reykjavik,
I would not hesistate to stay here. Room, location and atmosphere were fantastic
4.0 / 5.0
Location is very touristy which makes the room cramped. At the same time the bones of the hotel are old so heating/cooling is poor. Staffs response to how do I turn down the heat is “open a window”.
Much better options available if you are not looking for properties near the waterfront
