The best hostel I have ever stayed!
10.0
I think sometimes the word hostel has some bad connotations but. this was the most beautiful bed and breakfast like property I've ever been in and the staff was extremely welcoming helpful and friendly. You feel like you're coming home after a adventurous day on the mountains.

The hostel of Maine was absolutely beautiful. However, it did have some strange rules like no shoes when you come inside. It also did not have a laundry spot where I could do my laundry. They had a laundry service which I did not feel comfortable using. I prefer to do my own laundry. There was absolutely no air conditioning and the heat was unbearable. All in all, if you're looking for a eco-friendly place with no air conditioning, no TV, then this is the spot for you.

I was a little skeptical about a shared bunk room, but the place ended up being wonderful. The property is very new and nice, bathroom was perfect, everything felt clean and new. The staff (Justin) was awesome, very friendly and accommodating. I was there for Sugarloaf marathon and they provided us a pasta dinner and late checkout for all of us.

We booked an overnight for skiing the next day. The hostel was close to the mountain, was easy to find, was exceptionally clean and comfortable. Breakfast was great too!

The hostel had very nice private rooms, and for the adventurous, the shared "hostel" experience was excellent.

I was so pleasantly surprised by the Hostel of Maine! I booked last minute, but was blown away by how beautiful the building was, how well designed the interior was and the staff (Maggie!) was great! Can’t beat the location to Sugarloaf. Would absolutely stay again!

Beautiful log cabin ski lodge type place, in middle of quiet woods.; just lovely. Unfortunately no one was around when I tried to check in at 4:30, there was just a “call this number if you need help” but nobody answered - so not a great check in. Also they need air conditioning on upper floor- was sweltering. And they say alcohol must be bought from them, but won’t sell wine by the glass, only by the bottle. These things added up to a bit of a disappointing stay.

I hadn't stayed in a hostel since my youth. I wasn't sure what to expect. My travel was short-notice due to a family emergency and this hostel was the halfway point.
It exceeded all expectations! The staff was warm and welcoming, the facilities were clean, accommodating and welcoming. I felt at home, is the best way to express how I felt.
Thank you for a wonderful experience!

This hostel made the long trip to this remote part of Maine all worth it. Very close or convinient to the nortic center, food shopping, excellent dinner dining, transit stop, and the Maine Trails and Huts network. I would recommend this hostel and this recreation area any time of year. The new owners have maintained the high quality of a bed and breakfast with the hominess, community interactions and reasonal price point of a high end hostel for all ages. The included continental breakfast is enough to keep one satisfied until lunch. This breakfast time is a good time for the guests to interact and network for the days activities.
