Ok at 3.5 stars this is not luxurious accommodation but the place is very clean, close to the high street, restaurants and shops. The staff was very friendly.

We were looking for accommodation for the Evis Festival, the Clarindon was right next door.
Clean budget style hotel.
We will visit again.

Good location. Property needs some love
3.0 / 5.0
Comfortable place to stay. Very close to Katoomba’s Main Street. Off street parking was good. Hotel is currently being renovated. No noise experienced but very messy around the building.
3.0 / 5.0
Obviously the property is undergoing restoration, so it is difficult to rate at this time. I hope that when it is restored, it will be considerably better in surroundings than it is now, as it is in a dilapidated state with limited facilities.

We stayed here because it was convenient to shops. The condition of the motel is awful. Everything is old and dingy. The lights hardly provided enough light. The Rooms smell musty. The gentleman who ran it was helpful. He allowed us to change rooms because the bathroom tap was constantly dripping. I couldn’t recommend this motel. The only redeeming feature was that it was clean.

I like the fact that, the property is located at a convenient, walkable distance. Quiet and Safe for guests.

Building is very old and dark. Not well maintained

Comfortable room at a fair price in a walkable area.
Very close to a big club that does a cheap lunch (even on a Sunday).
You could walk or take a short 5 minute drive to Katoomba central.
Council parking rates are seriously expensive down at the Echo Point Lookout (3 Sisters). It is a fairly long hike there, but you can drive a k.m. down the road and find free parking, walk the extra 500m.
That gives you time to take the free walks which are the true highlight of the area without wasting $20 per hour on council parking.
Your other choice these days is the $70 fee per person to use the Scenic Skyway and Railway. No cheap family day in Katoomba doing that. It's good if you have spare money but there are other ways to enjoy your money. Keep this location in mind.

We liked the friendly, helpful staff at the Clarendon but the facilities in our room were very old and some towels etc were missing. The building is well situated for walking around the town, however.

The service was excellent. But the hotel room really smelled like urine and after one day the toilet started leaking. But besides that everything was great. The stay was very affordable!

Well priced accomodation in a very convenient location. A little dated but at this price who cares?

The property certainly needs renovation.
Caretaker at property was nice and attentive. Location is very good near to market and echo point. However rooms need renovations

Quirky and comfortable, close to town. A little run down and probably haunted! We liked the games area and common room. We were confused and slightly terrified by the minimalist hoarding vibe of the mini town. Will stay again

The rooms we were given were not good as the toilets were not good.
What we liked was they gave us better rooms

I recently had the pleasure of staying at the Clarendon Motel and Guesthouse in Sydney, New South Wales, Australia, and I am compelled to share my overwhelmingly positive experience.
From the moment I stepped into the reception area, I was greeted by a warm and welcoming atmosphere. The staff at Clarendon are exceptional—attentive, friendly, and always ready to go the extra mile to ensure a comfortable stay. Their genuine hospitality made me feel right at home.
The accommodations exceeded my expectations. The rooms were not only immaculate but also thoughtfully designed, combining modern amenities with a touch of charm. The attention to detail was evident in every corner, from the cozy furnishings to the well-appointed bathrooms.
One standout feature of Clarendon is its strategic location. Situated in the heart of Sydney, the motel and guesthouse provide easy access to iconic landmarks, bustling markets, and a myriad of dining options. Whether you're a tourist exploring the city or a business traveler with a busy schedule, the convenience of the location is unparalleled.
What truly sets Clarendon apart is the unique blend of historical charm and contemporary comfort. The guesthouse has a rich history that adds a layer of fascination to the overall experience. It's not just a place to stay; it's an immersion into the cultural tapestry of Sydney.
During my stay, I had the pleasure of sampling the on-site dining options, a

I booked a twin room for an overnight stay for my son and I while on one of our roadtrips..!
The hotel staff are fantastic. Nothing is too much trouble.
The Clarendon is quite an old building and as real estate agents like to say: "In original condition", but the bedding and towels are clean and the rooms are tidy.
The breakfast is very reasonably priced for a continental-style breakfast (cereal/toast/spreads etc) - my son was offered breakfast for free(!) however, on our road trips we prefer a big 'English breakfast' which the hotel does not provide.
That's no problem, because within 100m there are cafes galore catering for every kind of taste.
This was my second stay at the Clarendon, and I will be going back again since the value and location are hard to beat.

It's an older property so don't go expecting all the flash mod-cons. Our room had a TV, air-con and wi-fi, so the modern basics are there. The decor and furniture is from the last century, but it's ok.
The staff were incredibly helpful and friendly, so all good there. We were very comfortable in our Queen room which had a nice little sun-room area where we could sit and talk. We had a great time in Katoomba and the hotel is conveniently located close to Katoomba Street and all the cafes, restaurants and shops. There's an Aldi, Coles and Liquorland very close by, which was very handy! The breakfast offering was reasonably priced, but it's a continental breakfast only. If you want the full English breakfast you'll have to make the short walk to Katoomba Street (no more than 100 metres away). We enjoyed our stay and would stay again.

The Clarendon is a unique example of an old school guest house. In its heyday it would have been a mecca for accommodation, entertainment and dining. It still has all the hallmarks of its former glory. We really enjoyed our stay at the Carendon.

This is absolute trash. Definitely under new owners who are too stingy to spend a dime in order to make this place liveable.
A majestic property being run to the ground.
