The external appearance is very dated. However inside it is charming. Lots of original features particularly in the library and games rooms upstairs. The inside courtyard area has a charm of its own. Our room was an internal room with no external air (windows opened into internal courtyard) and so we asked for a room with external windows which we could move to. Essential given the area was experiencing a heat wave!
Breakfast excellent and plentiful.

Our stay at the Metropol Hotel Katoomba was absolutely amazing. Book in was very efficient and fast...our room was newely renovated and smelt wonderful for such an old heritage building. The very best was our bed we were there for 2nights the best sleep đ´ we have ever had. Also breaky was very good.It was just a beautiful stay.

nice modern bathroom, excellent shower, attractive rooms Very nice old world decoration and feel
Staff were helpful
There was nowhere to hang clothes and no choice provided for bedding, I was too hot.! No facilities to dispose of sanitary items for women
TV in one of rooms didn't work I would have liked a bedside lamp.

Good location and property is dated but has a fine aesthetic. Room was a bit short of the âroyal roomâ experience advertised. Lumpy uncomfortable split bed and single ply public toilet paper. Never asked about our stay on check out. Shared billiard room and library were a fine feature.

This is a historic hotel nicely situated in Katoomba. Staff were super friendly and helpful. The hotel has good off-street car parking. The best thing about the Metropole was the cooked breakfast. The chef on Monday to Friday cooks to your order. Great food with great service. Overall, a good value for money stay.

Incredible service and staff, lovely property. I mentioned that it was my partners birthday and asked for a note to be written. They did that a more! A cake and a bottle of wine! Lovely place and even better service

Although the hotel doesn't look that much from the street it is full of historic charm inside. Thoughtfully and nicely restored this gem in the Blue Mountains town of Katoomba, NSW was a delightful surprise. The staff were all very friendly and helpful. The single room, although tiny, was immaculate. The newly remodeled bathroom was modern with a large walk-in shower.
The buffet style breakfast available at an extra charge was well stocked and quite adequate to set you up for day's exploring.
Well situated in the heart of town and a 3 minute walk from the train station, the Metropole is an excellent choice.

The building and inside are very beautiful, loved the old world style and feel my only suggestion would be to update the bed, you could feel the springs and it was very hard. The breakfast was amazing and the staff were lovely

Found Jack at reception very pleasant and helpful and his Mum does a wonderful job at breakfast.

The staff were pretty great; the breakfast was worth the charge: tasty, quick, and great service. Biggest complaint was the room: the hot water tap didn't work in the sink and when told the front desk shrugged it off blaming someone for sealing it but not willing to give us a change of room.

Nice hotel with friendly and helpful staff. The room is small but neat and tidy. Location is convenient. There're plenty of restaurant choices and big supermarkets within 15 mins walk. Train station is opposite to the hotel, but it is under maintenance so we took a shuttle bus to another town to change train when leaving.

The place was clean and tidy. I booked 2 rooms about 3 months back and we were allocated on the ground and second floor, I asked if we could have adjacent rooms and was told that all the other rooms were booked inspite of the vacancy sign being displayed. The games room was leaking due to the rain.

I liked the library, numerous cosy parlours, location & the lift (we stayed on the 3rd floor & it was a relief not having to carry the luggage).
I did not like the room although my brother was allocated a far nice room. I detested the car park. It was a battle to get in & out & if you don't get a park prepare to park on Lurline St & walk a long distance. Would I stay here again...probably not....but happy to have stayed because our parents honeymooned at this location in the 50's

Quirky older building in great location - very close to centre of town and train station. A bit noisy and dated due to older building but otherwise very comfortable.
4.0
Old world charm in a convenient location meets modern accommodation and friendly service.
Great value for a room with ensuite near the town centre with a full cooked breakfast available downstairs.

Old world charm, very conveniently located for the railway station.

Second visit to Metropole. The staff are lovely and the hotel is great value for money. I highly recommend the breakfast - best hotel breakfast I've ever had. The common areas are beautifully decorated. The rooms are a little basic but very clean & comfortable.

The Metropole Guest House
Pros -
Near Katoomba train station.
Cons -
Unprofessional reception,
Old and run down building,
Elevator out of service,
Spider webs in every corner of the room, When checked-in the room i noticed the Towel were dirty and used,
Shampoo dispenser were empty,
Kept waking up from sound of train station no noise isolation,
Light enters the room from below the door and curtains
Couldn't have a good night sleep.

Just outside the railway station, a period property, well maintained with friendly staff.

Conveniently located near Train statio and shops and eateries. Had a refurbished room which was very nice but did not have anywhere to hang clothes either in room or bathroom. Also there was no chair in the room. The bed was very comfortable

I liked the old worldly charm of the place and staff are very help full.

I wouldn't stay here again due to poor maintenance of the central ac/heater and lack of hot water. The maintenance folks didn't fix the ac issue at all. Both rooms had ac issues. The shower water lacked hot water on multiple days during the morning and evening times. The bathroom window lacked a curtain to cover the window. I put a pillow to cover it for privacy.
The receptionist helped me the most. She provided a different room after the ac issue that maintenance worker never fixed. She was very helpful.

Like many 1930s mountains properties, the Metropole has much charm - stained glass windows, furniture in keeping. But a musty smell pervading. The old carpet?
My bedroom was a good size (double), big enough to also fit a 2-seater lounge. The bed was good! All the built-ins were rough around the edges, the whole room needed a re-paint (flaking on the ceiling above the bed was a concern). A microwave would be a welcome addition. Good little fridge.
The games room, library, reading room, all the lovely quiet little nooks and crannies would have elevated my review to very good...until the lift failed. I am 68 and was on the third floor. Worst of all was when I tried to get help with my luggage as I was leaving - no one available to answer my call. Nor anyone at the desk at 7:30 am. I was upset! That left me in a dangerous position.
The shower was great once but not not twice. Second time it was cold. I waited & waited, then washed in less than lukewarm water. No hair conditioner left me with hair that took an inordinate, and painful, time to unknot.
Overall, I liked the room but it was a real mixed bag.

Nice old times hotel with beautiful fireplace sitting and games room. Good cooked breakfast at very reasonable price. Clean and functional room. 50 m from Katoomba train station

Always love staying here. Wish Iâd known there was no laundry available due to renovations. Staff were lovely . Still recommend staying here .

Warm welcome upon check in it was quick and to the point I was given Room 12 Classic Room, Queen Bed, with a good view of Kingsford Smith memorial Park, the room was clean cozy and warm. the only concern I had about the room was the ceiling in the bathroom above the shower its massively pilling away and mold in some corners. The Reason why I keep coming back to the Metropole is it's so affordable for your money for what get, close to everything and over the road from the Station friendly staff for the rest of the hotel its charming as ever and got no problems with it. looking forward to my next stay there.

The original 30s surroundings. Nostalgia was good.

It fulfilled my criteria, clean, comfortable and very convenient, near to the train station and bus services! The hotel had real character with rooms furnished in the âold styleâ! The freshly cooked breakfast was excellent, full marks to a staff who are proud of their heritage! Probably wonât suit everyoneâs taste, but l loved it and would stay their again! đ

It's just a typical guest house style of place. For those wanting 5 star I would suggest looking elsewhere. I've stayed here many times with friends and family as a group and it suited our needs perfectly. Breakfast is good value. Rooms comfortable and clean and situated slap bang in the middle e of Katoomba. I really feel at home here. Overall excellent value.

Very nice. Very quaint. Very cosy.

I inadvertently left a very sentimental item on my stay. I called a week later, after exhausting all other options. Not only had they found it. They kept it, and posted back to me at home. That kind of service is rare these days. Everything about the hotel was great, but this gesture made it quite clear, I would never stay anywhere else in the blue mountains again.

Very cosy and lovely old world atmosphere and sevice. Great Breakfast by lovely staff.
