Not the best of places I've stayed, but it was fit for purpose (a quick nights sleep before heading off on the southdowns way)

Room 3 advertised with a private bathroom and can clearly see bathroom attached to the room in photo is not what we received room 3 had a shared bathroom down corridor. Also large green emergency light in room so unable to sleep.

Noisy , uncomfortable, dirty. Staff don’t really care

Unfortunately the room we had booked had not been cleaned since the previous guests had left, so we arrived to an unmade and dirty room.
The member of staff who was helping us was quite helpful and did get the room cleaned for us but it was done very quickly.
The room was small but neat, but it had a very bad smell of damp probably because there is no extractor fan in the small bathroom area of the room.
This really needs to be rectified as it is not good for guests to be breathing in dampness.
Very pretty village it is in and very nice inside. Would suggest more staff are required here as busy with drinks, food and rooms. It would really benefit this place if they offered breakfast to guests in the morning at a reasonable rate as I’m sure it would be appreciated especially on weekends!
Parking for about two cars so street parking is needed here and on very narrow country roads.
Nice place for a one night stay. Would have liked to try the food there but very busy and could not wait as had a prior engagement to get to.

Great for a short stay. Lovely pub with dining options as well

Parked directly outside. Room fine. Accommodation could not find booking but did then locate it. Team left immediately after checking in.There was no wifi login provided, no mobile signal and no telephone signal at the location. Drove 2 miles up the road to get signal, called and emailed for the wifi code - no answer. Was left as sole occupant on the premises with no way to contact anyone without driving offsite.

The room was very good

Room was clean but no wardrobe and bathroom room was along corridor also church clock chiming all night did not help next time will have a room at rear of house away from road noise and the clock.
Other wise all good for convenience and a good bar.

The hotel was welcoming, clean and more than adequate for our short stay.

Only two very flimsy bath towels and no hand towels. Green emergency exit light on in the room all night made the room too bright for sleeping. Aldo only a blind at the window and no curtains which added to the brightness.

Booked this accommodation for a 3 night stay, combining a work trip with a weekend in the area. The photos of the accommodation on the website are a little misleading, and the room I booked was advertised as a large room. It was actually very small with no desk / seating space and very limited space to hang clothing. On first glance it was quite clean, however there was a stain on the carpet and some damp / mould in the bathroom. The facilities were very basic in the room. The booking was confirmed as including breakfast. The pub stopped serving breakfast about 2 years ago.
The pub itself was nice, we had a meal there one evening and the food was good. The bar staff were friendly. There was no servicing of the room during the stay. I did actually have to buy toilet roll.
The bed was comfortable, and the noise complained about in other reviews was not a concern for us.
The accommodation was functional. I don’t think I would book again, but do want to single out for praise the friendly bar staff.

A popular pub in the centre of the village. The room was small but clean and functional. Room had a bath, which was nice.

Staff left at 8.30 pm so no chance of rectifying

Beautiful building in a good location but terribly run down, mould in shower, freezing room, no extra blankets or pillows, mouldy milk, broken pane of glass in window.

When we arrived the roads were busy but got a parking space so was good as there is free parking just walking distance from The Whitehorse inn, the rooms were clean but needed a bit of TLC in my opinion other than that it was comfortable and a beautiful place to stay, the owner was awesome and the staff were great, with a friendly atmosphere.. 😊

Room wasn’t ready when I arrived but they quickly made it up. However they forgot the dirty tissue behind the bed

The en suite room we had was minimalist -- a bed was about all. The bathroom had not been properly cleaned --poop in the toilet when we checked in. The village is lovely however.

The pub itself was good and the food was very good too. Staff friendly. Accommodation not so good. Could do with a good clean up and overhaul to bring up to a reasonable standard.

A little pricey for what you get TBH. Owners were friendly but the accommodation just needs a little more attention to detail in the room/bathroom.

Extremely disappointed due to dirty condition of room, being allocated different room to one booked and that the private bathroom described on website is not private but shared between several rooms. Tried to discuss issues with staff but unhelpful responses and it was clear that they were not interested.
All surfaces in bedroom were filthy, carpet very stained, windows cracked and dirty with cobwebs etc. Unfinished repairs to cornice and stained walls, cracked paintwork etc ( clearly been in that state for some time) This site does not seem to enable photos to be uploaded but one wipe of bedside table left cloth black and greasy.
Bed linen was clean and mattress was comfortable.

Hotel has great potential as large rooms but needs a little tlc

Comfortable room, basic but with all the necessary inclusions needed. Friendly staff and locals. Nice outside area. Excellent food and good value for money. Small car park but a free public park within 5 mins walk. Nice local amenities as well.

Friendly staff, lovely bar and beer garden.

The private bathroom, which we were assured was for our use only, was also being used by the occupants of another room.

Fairly basic ( no en suite) but beds were comfortable. OK for my traveling purposes

Lovely place to eat and drink and staff were friendly and welcoming. The accommodation was cramped with very little room to move around the bed. The wall adjoining the room next door was very thin. I got treated to someone hacking their lungs up for long periods of time. Could also hear them moving around. Would definitely return for food/drinks but not to stay.

I know the area well but I didn't appreciate that the bells from St Margaret's Church rung every quarter hour during the night. The front door was so badly stuck that it wouldn't open and the landlord had to come down and force it open for me. Also, although the accommodation facilities mentioned 'breakfast available', when I came down at 7.45am, there were no lights on and the entrance to the bar area was closed.

Twin Rooms smaller than advertised, with shared bathroom. Towels only available on request,no toiletries or soap in the toilet. Nails in the wall to hang long garments, not acceptable Coffee and tea not replaced after one night.kettle too big to fit under taps….filled from bath. parking limited. Nice bar but expected to have take away after last orders. Church clock chimes every 15mins.Excellent breakfasts available in village. No views from windows of South Downs. Photos of accommodation misleading and phone no. On Expedia confirmation email is incorrect-directing to White Horse Inn in north Yorkshire. Not useful.

We could have booked in at 11am but when we arrived at 14:30 dead tired from our journey, the bed was not even made. We went to explore Brighton and when we arrived back at around 22:00 the bed was made. Went to the bathroom which was out side down the corridor there were no hand towels provided. We then had to go and ask for hand towels. The room was basic but clean. The stairs towards the bedrooms were really dirty which gave me the wrong impression of the White Horse Inn. The staff were friendly and helpful.

The Room was misrepresented. My so called private bathroom was down two corridors and through four doors. When I went for my shower in the morning, someone had already used it. The window did not stay open. There was no chair in my room as it wouldn’t have fitted, the room was so tiny.
The worst was a green light over the door that stayed on all night and illuminated the room, so one couldn’t sleep.
The doors in the corridors where sticky to the touch.
There was a kettle and one cup in the room, but of course the next tap two corridors down.
All in all I felt completely cheated

We stayed in the small twin room, which is as it clearly states is small, but perfectly functional. The bathroom is separate, which did not bother us at all. Very nice owner and staff, nothing was too much trouble and we had a great stay and would not hesitate to return.

We had a wonderful stay over Easter staying for 2 nights. Lovely pub and staff and Management were very friendly and helpful. We will use this hotel again when we next go racing in the area.
