This is very much a specific issues as an electric wheelchair user. This is my second time visiting the hotel and the second time the lift, for wheelchairs to get in to the building has been malfunctioning. I was trying to get to an event for a start time, and the lift did not work. The staff seemed clueless on what to do, trying to find a manager, despite me saying it had happened before, and to just let me out through the staff route. I REALLY don't mind seeing the back of house when I'm in a hurry, especially as its all level access with a modern lift between floors. If you're in the same situation as me, needing a lift that isn't working, ask to go through the staff passage, its the key card locked door to the left hand side behind the reception desk. To The Grand, please sort the platform lift, it really lets down your hotel which is otherwise excellent, and the accessible rooms are fantastic, can't fault them, just fix the lift!

Lovely hotel but might as well have tried to sleep in a nightclub.

Beautiful hotel, perfect location.
Definitely recommend.

The hotel is well situated and very comfortable with a lovely bar and bathrooms. However there was a wedding being held and the party music was very loud in our room on the second floor at 11.30, Fortunately it went off at midnight.

Room 618n had no heating on one of the coldest nights. The hotel was fully booked so was unable change rooms.
A very small portable radiator was supplied for a very big room.
Very unhappy
Staff did there best to help - but unfortunately it does help when your cold? It wasns't so GRAND

In general our stay in the Gran Hotel Birmingham could’ve been better.
The overall experience was nice, hotel still in good condition, but the service wasn’t not as good as excepted.
Tiny blood shades on bed sheet, as well as hair. The fire alarm went off as a test but no one noticed us. Someone tried to open my room door in the morning while I was talking on the phone, later knocked twice while I was in the bathroom.
Guests’ privacy need to be respected, thanks a lot.

Great stay from start to finish, beautiful hotel, centrally located with the awesome Madeline’s bar. Our 2nd stay here and loved it again

1 night stay with a friend, room was really nice, spacious and clean. However as is often the way in some hotels, the lighting was very poor, plus the pillows were awful! 3 of the 4 were incredibly lumpy and the other one was just plain uncomfortable, would’ve expected better for the standard of the hotel and suggest this is looked at.

A really warm welcome and lovely room, thank you for an amazing stay. Perfect location too!!

Amazing room and amenities. Easy check in and out. Good check out time (12 am) so plenty of time to get ready to get sorted ready to leave. Also really nice shower and soaps. Great room service and bar however the bar was a bit pricey(£5.50 for a small bowl of nuts that didn’t taste great) drinks on the other hand were impeccable and worth that little bit extra would highly recommend.

My friend and I booked a twin room, and I checked in first. Upon arrival, I found only one set of towels, one bathrobe, and two small bottles of water—clearly set up for just one guest. Slippers were also missing, despite the tiled bathroom floor, so I had to request them at reception. On our first night, we visited the Madeleine bar, only to discover we couldn’t charge drinks to the room because “there was no credit.” This happened because we weren’t asked for a credit card for a deposit at check-in, so we had to pay on the spot. The bathroom lacked both a toilet brush and a toilet douche. When I requested a brush, housekeeping brought one without a holder. Reception informed me that the rooms aren’t equipped with brushes or douches, suggesting that I contact housekeeping if needed. This was especially frustrating given that I was sharing the bathroom, and it’s not pleasant to leave it uncleaned. After complaining, we received a brush with a makeshift holder fashioned from a plastic container, which worked but felt like a workaround. The shampoo and shower gel were inconvenient to use. The bottles were fixed to the wall, making them impractical, as they had to be removed to use. The fragrance was quite masculine and musky—not something everyone, particularly women, might enjoy. On the positive side, the beds were very comfortable. However, the main entrance of the hotel has steps, and more steps lead to reception and the room. There was no usher to assist with luggage.

It’s a nice clean recently renovated hotel, but I was expecting a bit more for the price. We went for 1 up from the basic room, but couldn’t see anything more than basic. Only got one towel and robe in the room despite booking for 2. And yes I know we could have asked for more.

Huge bed, beautiful bathroom, very clean everywhere. Best hotel in Birmingham, should be 5 star

Beautiful hotel in the Midlands

Hotel is beautiful from an outside perspective however when comparing to other hotels lacked in quite a few areas for the price.
Stayed 1 night in the double accessible room for 2 people.
Downsides: Only 1 towel and 1 robe was provided, requested more but only the towel was received. The door to enable two rooms to join together was fully unlocked which was a safety concern (next room with unknown guests could enter my room whilst away) I contacted reception when i realised to have this locked. Parking was far away, especially when i had 2 suitcases + stairs only into hotel. Breakfast was average for money paid.

Location is good on the heart of the city. The room was a little small but nicely decorated with very good bed linen. Ideal for a short stay in the city.
