This hotel has the cheek to charge you an extra £2 for breakfast if you don't order it in advance.
The central heating radiators were not working and there were still the remains of bugs in the ceiling light.
The hotel only did breakfasts and no evening meals

Quite a nice mini break
1.0
Tiny toilet, sink & shower were in another part of the room and were also tiny. Shower had mould & cudicle had hair present in 2 locations. Room average size, good sized tv, poor view & bed uncomfortable.
I've stayed in a sea view room in this hotel previously & the difference was night & day

No central heating in rooms just an oil filled radiator which made no difference, given a 2 bar electric fire which helped make room bearable. An electric fire in a hotel room is surely a fire hazard and should not be allowed.

Unfortunately it was awful.
When we arrived we complaint as we were put downstairs in the basement which was dark and horrible. The carpet was dirty and brown. The bathroom was from 60s you could tell it had been recently siliconed because of mould which was a shoddy awful job. The room was damp and freezing we had single beds and both slept fully clothed under the covers as it was freezing. The pictures on the hotel page didn’t replicate what it actually was really like, the pictures looked like they been taken from the Marina Hotel down the road we did a comparison. The hotel was housing illegal immigrants which kept me up all night shouting making noise banging sounded drunk. I managed to get to sleep about 4am. 7am was woken up to what sounded like a stampede of elephants above us. I did ask reception to move us she said we would have to pay an extra £84 to upgrade (what a joke) we asked if we could have a refund as we wanted to go somewhere else they said no. We had literally booked it 20 mins before we checked in but they wouldn’t budge on anything so I had no choice but to take it up with Hotels.com and ask for a refund so we could move. If hotels are housing immigrants they should be staying this in the profile. I didn’t feel safe there at all and the whole experience awful.

The staff were all very friendly and helpful. The room was well appointed. The only criticism there was that the waste paper bin hadn't been emptied from the previous occupant and I think the room would benefit from a bin in both the bedroom and the bathroom. Otherwise a fairly clean room .

Staff incredibly friendly
Breakfast excellent
Bar service superb

This was a last minute get away and a snap decicion on hotels. It was cheap and when we arrived we understood why. The hotel is very run down and we arrived to hear a couple being told the reason their room was so cold was down to the boiler not working, as was ours , nothing was offered to take the chill off the room. The room was so noisy we were expecting the people walking up the stairs to come into our room at any time .
The door didn't close properly so we had to force it shut at night. and the noise that came from the bed was deafening .
Will not go back ant time soon.

Hotel was conveniently situated on the main promenade with an easy walk to the main shopping area and the pier.
Staff were pleasant and helpful. The hotel itself was a bit tired, and could do with a refurb. The heating in my room didn't work but an electric radiator was supplied, which kept the chill off.
The food was basic fare. Cooked Breakfast over the weekend was buffet style, with cereal, yogurt, toast available also.
During the week it was by request for the full breakfast or adjust it to suit your taste.
Bar meal available in the evening. The first night I had Sausage and mash with onion gravy, which was excellent and very filling. I dined out the rest of the time as lots of options within walking distance.

Mattresses in first room badly stained .Mould around bath .Carpet heavily stained .Walls marked .Moved to another room -mattresses were clean but rest of room grubby .The radiator had been removed leaving a gap on wall with pipes and brackets remaining.Curtains off rail and wouldn’t fully close .Noticed what looked like dried blood on chair leg .Only one disabled parking space which is not reservable and was being used by someone with no blue badge .We paid for another parking space which was taken by another resident (Granted this was not the staffs fault as they did put our name on the wall )The staff weren’t rude but weren’t as helpful or friendly as expected and seemed tired of dealing with complaints

Friendly staff ,spacious public rooms, good food service ,excellent position on promenade, just dated rooms but overall very pleasant.

Room was awful, grubby and very basic, quilt was old and dirty with stuffing coming out, mattress was so soggy and could feel springs!, so uncomfortable , we left at 03.55 in morn as could bear it no more, room 225!!

For a budget hotel, it couldnt be faulted, have stayed in plenty of more expensive hotels that were lacking in many ways but was very pleasantly surprised with The County Hotel.
2.0
We parked directly outside the hotel on the promenade and although the hotel was dated the staff we're friendly and helpfull and the room was great value for money no frills but fine to fall asleep in at the end of busy days

Could be a great place to stay if. It was refurbished cleaner. Entertainment was advertised every night absolutely nothing on at all. Superb staff really helpful and friendly. Breakfast was great good selection and the food was hot and tasty (self service) would we stop there again probably not even though it was very cheap £233 for 4 nights for two including breakfast but really needs a good overhaul

Very good

Very dated room with stained floors and walls. Poor lighting and TV didn’t work. Staff were lovely, breakfast was fine, bed was reasonably comfortable. Very thin floors so noisy in the morning when people were moving about upstairs.

Very pleasant hotel. Everywhere was clean and comfortable. Although the hotel didn’t do evening meals the breakfasts were very good.

We enjoyed our stay, the bedroom was nice had sea view, but the bathroom was very tiny and the shower was in need of TLC. The breakfast was good and the staff in the dinning room was lovely.
The only complaint was the lady on reception could be more attentive and smile

Overall the hotel is of a poor standard compared with how it used to be. Standard of some rooms is very poor and others could only be described as adequate at best. The breakfast offering was inconsistent with elements constantly running out and being slow to be replenished if at all. Would we stay there again - NEVER. Would we recommend -NO.

Arrived at the property, parking is very scarce. Lucky to find a space near the property.
Walked in and it seemed very dated, carpets need changing completely. Looked dingy and dirty on first look.
Reception staff were lovely and helpful.
Stayed in a room on lower ground floor. Room was clean. Again very dated, floor boards creaking, window barely opened and when it did there was a lot of noise from people and traffic. Curtains didn't close so had the street lamp shining through all night.
Bath and shower was ok. Coffee and tea making facilities.
Plenty of chairs and storage in the room.

Need higher standard of cleanliness and maintenance, housekeeper or inspectors
Clients toilets were not up to standard with broken toilet roll holders and lack of soap dispensers, loose toilet seats.
Rooms need to be inspected by higher management, ours ref bathroom had soap in plastic bottles that should be in fixed dispensers not just sitting an a shelf, be better with a small complimentary bar of soap for their costs and customers hygiene as most people take their own toiletries for room stays at their star rating.
The carpet had lots of stains so would be better if cleaned, curtains needed washing but also hanging correctly as we were unable to draw them closed, rail needed to be replaced.
Bed was very creaky and may need to be replaced for a comfortable night's sleep, won't be staying there again, but their sister hotel is one grade better.

The location of the hotel is quite nice. Opposite of the beach. The room I stayed was a twin bed room. Room was nice, a lot of storage option but not much spacious.
I was unhappy about two things, one was we asked to clean the room and clear the garbage after first night but it was untouched. And number 2 is they serve pork
sausage and bacon at the breakfast which I do not like. If then use chicken or vegan products, it may be better for all the guests.
Overall, it was a nice, cozy stay and we got good buffet breakfast.

Everything was good, but the area for parking was a right mess

5th Stay no previous problems. This stay the entrance carpets full of stains, lounge dusty dull not hoovered. Room bed & bathroom clean carpet not hoovered. Had to complain to Manager as night duty man banging doors, heavy footed up & down my corridor. I spoke to him he was cleaning toilets it was 3.45am & was rude to me. Very disappointed with the Hotel it's gone downhill, and different staff who all looked miserable. Doubt I will use again

The hotel was fine as a base to explore the coast
The decor needed updated the ceiling was not painted in quite a while so it looked dirty
The bathroom was not the best mould around the shower and grout
Television in room was faulty reported it the first day never fixed
The staff were wonderful nothing was a trouble for them
The view was very disappointing the front had sea view we had a view of the back of houses and the bins
All in all we made our own enjoyment

Very shabby. No shower in my room. My paid for parking space taken by someone else. Noone was bothered. Lift broke down one day, very inconvenient for older people. Breakfast buffet not kept topped up, had to wait both days for food. Not a good hotel.
2.0
Single room on ground floor was clean with a wardrobe, table and chair, TV with Freeview, kettle, tea and coffee and lamp by bed. Bathroom was clean with a shower. Not much pressure with the shower. Walls are thin and could hear people in next room or out in corridor. Creaky floor boards from the room above.
The reception and hallways are dated and some hallways have a musty smell. Didn't try the breakfast.
Checking in was quick and painless and the staff were friendly. Checking out was also quick.
For a budget hotel I would stay again.

Very dissapointed in the hotel the room was basic there was thick dust on the woodwork the hotel was dirty throughout very dated and unhygienic.
The carpets throughout the hotel were disgusting they were worn and very stained .
You could see a build up of dust throughout the entire woodwork of the hotel.
The entrance floor tiles were rotten and needed hoovering and mopping .
The breakfasts was awful and the hotel was just like faulty towers I would not recommend it avoid staying here 😡

Location is good ,value for money ,but comes with other drawbacks.the rooms did not have soap or trash bucket in the rooms .We reported the same at reception next day morning, but no action taken .In the evening I was handed over a bin bag by the reception person to carry it to the room . Indeed a bit of surprise & embarrassing for me.But otherwise stay was uneventful.

We loved the location. The reception area was dirty. Our room was clean but the ceiling in the room was unpainted. The bedroom window was broken and cracked. The elevator was not operating very well. We left at 5.30am.

when we arrived I went into the foyer to check in and I thought the flooring was a mess. dirty and full of dog urine. it gives the impression the hotel is filthy but our room was clean and tidy and the breakfast was very good. so it really needs a good refurb at check in. as first impressions say really count ...

During a 4 night stay we slept in 3 different rooms. The first room had a smell of drains and attempts to remedy it failed so we were moved to another room for one night. The final 2 nights were spent in a better room, but it wasn't worth unpacking again. The breakfasts were amazing as were the staff.
