The hotel is beautiful, clean, and comfortable, very well located near the ferry dock and with a partial sea view. The only problem is that you won't be able to rest during the day. There is an exhaust fan from the hotel's own restaurant that feels like having a helicopter on the roof. They turn it on with a loud noise that will wake you up even if you're wearing earplugs at 7:00 AM every day, and it won't turn off until midnight. So forget about having peace for the rest of the time. I requested a room change, which was very kindly denied, stating that the hotel was fully booked

I really wanted to like this place well enough to return, but they are losing it in the details. The good: it is lovely well-designed property overall. Very tasteful minimal decor in the lobby, atrium, and rooms. We stayed in one of the deluxe rooms with two balconies, and the view is everything— perhaps better than pictures. Our room was kept very clean overall except for problems with linens (see below). The rain shower is nice, and they have organic locally made shampoos and soap.
The bad: the number one thing that soured my experience was that the room was sweltering when we arrived (past a standard check in time). All you want after a long day of travel and a hot cab ride is the peace of your room, but we couldn’t be in there at all for the first few hours. I know an official answer might be that leaving the air off until you arrive is an eco thing, but it’s probably more of a cheap thing, and it’s just too hot for that. Plus this made us run the air nonstop the whole time, so…
Other things: the second biggest thing is that they have built a lovely bar and cafe, but it’s only open till 1pm. We would have given them so much money and enjoyed that convenience. The towels are rough and visibly shredded, and there were numerous spots on our sheets. We also had a night when the power went out and their generator does not power the air. This was miserable— probably just a limitation of the island, but have some fans dammit! Or offer to check us out immediately.

Nice Hotel, only down side no restaurant Mondays

Over all was good but over priced. It been cheaper at all inclusive . There enployees dont go above and beyond . Front staff is not attentive or went above and beyond at all.

The property was excellent, and the staff was exceptional. Its location right across from the beach offered beautiful views. Everything was wonderful except for the cleanliness of the sheets, which had noticeable stains.

Great staff, felt very welcomed thank you!

Great location for walking to shopping or restaurants. Catching a cab is easy, they’re driving by often. Very safe for walking at night. Hotel staff were very accommodating and all that we spoke to were bilingual or spoke enough English for us to communicate. The hotel was very clean and bonus, there was a coffee maker and they gave us coffee every day. The hotel property is non smoking however there are plenty of places across the street to smoke if necessary. We’d definitely come back.

I've stayed here twice now, and will definitely be staying here again. It is the closest *nice* hotel to the downtown area and the price is reasonable for how clean and stylish the property is. Front desk is always staffed and ready to help. They have a laundry service with a quick turn around. The on-site restaurant has incredible breakfast. I've stayed at other resorts and hotels in Cozumel and I keep coming back to Hotel Puerto Libre.

This a very modern-looking hotel. The staff was friendly and responsive to my needs.
My only complaint was that the internet was "spotty" at best. Then again this is quite common in Cozumel.
Overall, very positive experience and I would recommend and return.

The Puerto Libre Hotel was absolutely perfect for us. Close to everything, the staff was soooo nice and helpful, it was clean and the room was set up perfect with a great view. If we get back to Cozumel we’d be happy to stay there again!

Wonderful new hotel that is right on the malecón.it is close to downtown and walkable to most places in the main square. The roof top pool is nice to watch the street below but also the sea. Only suggestion is to get a water station next to the ice machine so we dont have to have to use plastic water bottles that are wasteful and bad for the environment.

Great place to stay… snack bar was hit or miss with hours

Location, Location, Location, hotel was great, all of the staff where very nice and help full. This is a small hotel, only 28 rooms, if you want a view and coffee in your room, do not book Standard room, pay for a up grade Superior or Deluxe. Pool is small, only 4 sun chairs but we stayed two week and never had a problem with it! Two minor problems but we knew them(no glass(drinking) and washcloths) we took some of both and just left them. When we go again we will be staying at Hotel Libre.

Great location, friendly staff and beautiful view. Just be nice if the bar/restaurant was open later.

The hotel was beautiful and clean, great location. Staff were friendly and helpful. The only downside was wishing there was more option for food/beverage at the hotel itself. The bar/restaurant by the pool was closed on Monday (one of the 2 days we were there) and hours very limited otherwise. Overall however, it was a great place and I would stay again.

We had a great 3 night stay. The hotel is located close to shopping and restaurants.
4.0
The rooms and service were great. They advertised food and drink, and pool, on the amenities list, that was only slightly accurate, the pool was very small, and the food and drink was a small bar by the pool that was only open until 1:00pm daily.

Great hotel just across the street from the coastline. Lots of great shopping and restaurants within easy walking distance. We felt safe walking there at night also. Buceo is the restaurant at the base of the hotel and it’s terrific, with live music most nights.
Don’t trust that Google will show you exactly where this hotel is because it’s brand new. The Google maps satellite flyover still shows the corner from years ago before this hotel was built and sends you a few blocks in the wrong direction. The hotel is on the opposite corner from a little shop called Cinco Soles.
If you need parking, you need to reserve that ahead of time because they’ve only got space for about five or six cars.

Clean hotel. Great location. Towels are a little rough and some need to be replaced but overall a very nice place to stay. The staff is very friendly and the restaurant on the property has great staff and delicious food.

It’s a nice hotel in a good location but be aware if you book a snack bar view room you will look at a wall. I wish the description was more clear when offering this room.

It was an entertaining view. We loved looking at the different people on the sea.
We paid the upgrade, but still only had partial view in a standard room. For a semi upscale room, first day no kleenex, no glasses in room, no washclothes and breakfast not included in this expedia room.
I would hate to see our room if we didn't pay an upgrade.
All in all a comfortable room with a nice size balcony.
