About this house rental

Restdown is a delightful 1870s settlers homestead which was originally built in the NSW Riverina from where it was carefully dismantled and reassembled using traditional methods on its present idyllic location. Built from cypress pine drop logs and recycled materials, the cottage has been lovingly restored to maintain the historic value of the building. You will not only be graced by Restdown’s historical presence and antique/country style furniture, but by its practicality and energy efficiency. Environmentally sustainable, the water supply is tapped from a natural spring and a combination of solar and hydro generated power supplies the cottage with electricity along with bottled gas.
Escape and immerse yourself in the warmth and character of this rustic cottage. Perfect for a romantic getaway or a relaxing break with friends or family, you have everything you need for a self-catering stay. With a slow combustion fireplace (a quantity of firewood is provided May to September), 2 Queen bedrooms, Queen loft bedroom, antique claw-foot bath, fully equipped kitchen, barbeque and firepit (collect wood and branches from the land); Restdown offers tranquility and total privacy.
Kangaroo Valley village is a short drive away and provides a variety of cafes, the local pub and a general store where you can stock up on essentials for your stay. Explore the national parks with bush walking, mountain bike riding, canoeing and horse riding right on your doorstep.

Restdown was the perfect getaway for us and our 2 dogs - who behaved perfectly. What a magical little house. Had everything we needed for a beautiful, quiet getaway. Beds were super comfy with electric blankets, tv, dvd, games, BBQ, fully equipped kitchen with yummy granola. Thank you so much for allowing us to bring our puppies. We hope to be back again - we loved it all.

Lovely little cottage in the middle of the bush. Had a lovely stay, fire roaring each day/night and lovely surrounding bush. Only downside is the toilet ran the whole time which was annoying especially at night, as was the expectation to take all rubbish with us (especially given the cost). But overall nice place to stay.

Beautiful property perfect for a break away from it all. Was great to be able to bring our dog along too. Beautiful views and wildlife all around. Enjoyed getting cosy around the outdoor fire pit and indoor fire. The cabin is very unique and well worth a visit. Thank you.

A beautiful property in a secluded and quiet location, yet within driving distance of Kangaroo Valley visit. We loved staying in the cabin. It's a stunning place with everything you need for a relaxing weekend away. Will definitely be returning and recommending to friends.

it had been a truly beautiful place, arranged with love in all, beautiful decoration for Christmas. Only downside was the quote we received: It was not accurate as it was quoted for 2 people not the whole family + dog. Please quote your price to the amount of people coming and not explain in terms and conditions, that the quote is for a couple and every additional person pays extra as well as the dog, it just doesn't sit well. While I love the peace and quiet I was disappointed to find either the owners or the new neighbors are clearing the bush at the back . Due to this we saw no wild life at all. Pity properly won’t go back

Barrengarry.. feels like home but at the same time feels like you are away from everything. A truly amazing cottage that has a unique feel of 'getting away from it all'. Highly recommended if you're after time away with good friends or just a weekend with a cottage for 2!

From the moment we entered the driveway towards the house we were blown away. The house was the epitome of a storybook log cabin surrounded by lush surrounds. Although we had wet weather the whole weekend we couldn’t have had a better spot to enjoy a cosy and intimate location overlooking the misty mountains. Everything we needed was provided and we really made it our home away from home. We couldn’t stop taking photos and pinching ourselves at discovering this beautiful hidden gem tucked away in the idyllic Barrengarry. Would love to return again some day. Thanks to Stayz and Jan for a perfect weekend of absolute relaxation.

A lovely small rustic cabin nestled in beautiful surrounds. Close enough to quaint townships for dining, cafes & wineries. The 4pm check-in is annoying and for those travelling with a few adults, the lounge is very small. Fire pit is fun.

We booked this property for our anniversary & more than lived up to our expectation. Great for a romantic getaway or just to enjoy the peace & quiet. The only thing I can say was there was a constant noise at night maybe from the water pipes or generator but despite that I would highly recommend it & am looking forward to coming back.

The house is a cosy, wooden cocoon, where time takes a break. It’s conveniently located in beautiful Kangaroo Valley, midway between Berry and Bowral.We’ll definitely be back to relive this soothing piece of nature.

Gorgeous rustic cabin with lots of personality. Not too far away from the township of Kangaroo Valley, but remote enough to feel like a real getaway. Would love to try it in the colder months with the fire going. A bit hot up in the loft during the summer. Lovely sitting out on the verandah under the wisteria and enjoying the gorgeous view. Take your supplies, a bottle or two and a good book and enjoy the solitude.

My husband and I thoroughly enjoyed our stay at Restdown. We slept better than in our own beds, beautifully and well appointed, great variety of cooking and baking ware, games, movies and the view and sounds of the birds in the rain forest! Couldn’t ask for more. Really.

Amazing location in the middle of nature. Loved waking up to a mob of local kangaroos at our doorstep each morning, beautiful cottage, we can’t wait to come back.
