About this cottage rental
The Dairy Cottage nestles in the tranquil eight acre grounds of Great Wells House in the heart of the New Forest National Park in the prime village of Burley.
Formerly the Dairymans home when the estate was a working farm, now beautifully transformed into an idyllic holiday home.
The Dairy has two double bedrooms one has a 5' double bed, french windows onto garden and TV with radio and the other with twin beds ( can convert to a 6' double ) also with TV/radio. There is also a cot or childs bed which can be accommodated in the main bedroom or the small hallway outside the bedroom. There is a comfortable sitting/dining room with TV/radio and french windows onto garden, kitchen and cloakroom with loo and basin. The family bathroom is large and has a loo, bidet, walk in shower and corner bath.
The cream brick and slate roofed property has views over its own pretty gardens to the back and the stable yard with private parking for two cars to the front. There is a brick patio with barbeque, outdoor seating and loungers for the summer months and plenty of room for outdoor games in the mainly lawned garden. Please note the garden its not fully fenced. Approached from a quiet village lane over a cattlegrid and situated at the end of a long driveway where you can walk directly into the Forest and see the lovely New Forest ponies and local wildlife including deer, badgers, foxes, rabbits, buzzards and rare birds. There is a meandering brook just along the lane at Mill Lawn where you can play poo sticks, catch minnows and go Kingfisher watching!
You may prefer a swim in the sea! The lovely beach at Mudeford is only a 10 - 15 minute drive. You can catch the little ferry across to the sandbank and Hengistbury Head and walk in the beautiful nature reserve.

We had a really enjoyable holiday. The Dairy Cottage was a lovely place to stay, very quiet, extremely clean, well furnished and comfortable. It was a joy to enjoy meals outside in the garden. All towels, tea towels and bed linen were provided including a welcome pack with tea bags, coffee etc.
The New Forest is a lovely area to visit. We are particularly interested in Gardens and really enjoyed visiting Compton Acres, Mottisfont, Kingston Lacy and Furzey Gardens. Bucklers Hard and museum are well worth visiting. The Colin Nash restaurant at the Retreat is a hidden gem.
Carole is a lovely host, very helpful, informative and excellent with communication.

We have just spent a wonderful week at the cottage exploring the New Forest. Carole and Chris couldn’t of been more helpful and were always on hand if we needed anything! The garden is gorgeous and our children enjoyed playing in it! I highly recommend booking this cottage it’s central to getting out and about whether that is driving around the new forest or visiting the local beaches! We can’t wait to return !

The property is in the most perfect location, surrounded by the varying landscapes of the New Forest on all sides. It's comfortable, has everything you need and had a homely feel. The garden is beautiful and very peaceful with french windows from the sitting room and main bedroom. Great for the dogs too. The only negative for me was the lack of an information pack with clear instructions on bins, "how to", easy local directions, etc. The owner wasn't immediately available and I don't really want to be disturbing the host at all. A simple FAQ sheet to avoid frustrations and clear contact instructions would be very helpful. Other than that, i can't recommend it highly enough and it was ideal for a relaxing break.

We arrived for a long weekend in Burley and were met by Carole who gave us a fantastic overview of the property, answering any questions we had, as well as giving us some great recommendations for the local area.
The property is set in a fantastic location and walking in any direction will give you amazing scenery - we took our coffee on a sunrise walk every day and the early morning light through the trees was incredible!
The house itself was really nice and quiet, with a spacious garden to unwind in.
There are some great local shops which have most things you would need to buy, and if you want a larger supermarket or store, these are only 10-15 minutes drive away.
Really great stay, would highly recommend and I am already looking forward to visiting Burley again!

A lovely idyllic setting and very helpful host. The only thing I would want different would be to have a washing machine in the cottage and washing line outside.
Perfect position to explore Burley and the woods.
