Clean and spacious area for a single person, lovely host and easy access to a beautiful area. Space for eating and a private onsen and shower are great too. A traditional place to stay, if that what you're looking for - you have to take off your shoes at the entrance and a one size Yukata is provided which feels comfortable (I'm a medium standing at 178cm). Smoking area outside the front door if that's what you need. The futon provided is great as well, if you like sleeping on hard surfaces - but there is extra cushions if it's too hard. I never used them, but it's great they're provided.
If you walk everywhere, the easiest way to get from the lake area to the hotel is via a mountain road with cars and a small area for pedestrians. Be vigilant when travelling this road especially at night. If you plan to spend a lot of time in your room, probably doing bother - this hotel was designed for you to be out and about.

The room and the toilet were very clean, the futon was very comfortable, and the guest house provides a yukata for sleeping. The place was quiet and at a 20 min walking distance from the lake. There is also a bus stop right in front of the house, very convenient!

The staffs are very helpful and even provided me with detergent for free when I need to wash my cloth as well as offering me ramen on my first day there since the closest convenient stores/markets are quite far away and inaccessible by foot at night. The host also willingly provided electric fans when I think AC alone isn't enough. In short, the staffs will go out of their way to make your stay as comfortable as possible.
The place is also very clean and wifi very strong even when it's packed with other guests, making remote work hassle free. Since half of the property is facing the mountain, this place doesn't get very hot even in the middle of summer so for those not wanting to use AC, this is the place for you.
There is also a vending machine right outside of the property so you'll never get thirsty.
The location isn't the best, as to go to the main attraction you need to walk across a not-pedestrian-friendly road without any streetlights or sidewalks and is filled with overgrown bushes. This essentially made enjoying night scene by the scenic lake impossible without transportation since traversing that area in the darkness is very dangerous. This being said, the nearest bus-stop is literally right across the street from this place so if you don't mind taking the bus to the lake everyday it's okay I suppose, but for someone who enjoys walking, this is a pretty big inconvenience.
Also when comparing to some other Airbnbs that provided toothbrush, tooth paste, towel, and washers to be used for free (yes, those do exist), this place doesn't offer those (you can wash your laundry for 300 yen and then dry them for 100 yen). While the place offers you hot water, they are accessible only by asking the staff as individual rooms do not come with water boiler.
The front door also locks at 11 pm, making late night activities impossible without another friend in the airbnb to unlock the door for you.

My friends loved the place. The place was quiet and the owner was welcoming.

For a Japanese Guesthouse it was what it said on the tin. Cheerful host. Basic shared facilities and an opportunity to try the traditional floor beds. Situated just out of village but old footpath led to lake away from main road.
The toilet, washing and showering facilities were a bit tired, but did not detract too much from the overall experience.
