Small little hotel with a very friendly owner who was helpful with suggestions for the area. Nice breakfast. Less than 5 minutes walk to the lake and views of Mt Fuji if you're lucky!

Mac and his wife were excellent hosts. The food was amazing along with a friendly atmosphere.
Location was great. Steps away from bus station and pirate boat
The weather wasn't cooperating while we were there. Last day everything cleared up and we saw Mt Fuji

Japanese chicken hotpot was excellent!

The shabu shabu pork dinner was exceptional and good value with a hotel stay discount. The breakfast was early (8AM) I like to sleep in :) But it was good and they were so kind! Mac gave some tips on the stores to go to as I was looking for a specific piece of art. Mac and his wife are great hosts! Go out and see the sunset if you can on the lake, it was AMAZING!
Nothing! I really don't have anything to complain about!

Location is super close to local bus stops and the port. The Japanese style room is very comfortable. Dinner at 6 with notice and breakfast at 8. Main doors closed at night until breakfast unless advance notice. Breakfast has hot water, tea, coffee, orange juice, bread, sausage, eggs, vegetables. Can be accommodated to vegan and/or gluten free (rice and veg for both). MaC is very nice!
The room is a bit tight for 3 people. House rules are strict. No kettle in the room. A bit expensive.

Location is good. Room is clean and spacious. Breakfast and Dinner are delicious. The owners Mr. and Mrs. Hattori are very nice, polite and helpful. Mr. Hattori speaks very good English. He provided us a lot of accurate, useful, and detailed information about Hakone before and during our stay in Jemsty Inn Hakone Ashinoko. We really appreciate for everything did by Mr. and Mrs. Hattori.

Cozy homestay, lovely & warm owners who makes excellent delicious food! MaC-san was really helpful and provided valuable information to help me prepare for my trip. I was assigned with room A which had an excellent view of Fuji-san! My family were so thrilled to see Fuji-san & it was an interesting experience for my little one to spend a night in a tatami Japanese room with no TV.
Nothing much actually. Just 1 little concern. The toilet bowl had a furry cover. I was not sure if it was changed everytime a new person stayed or it is there permanently. It would be better to remove it for hygiene reasons.

Mac was the best thing about this place. A true gentleman who cares about his customers. He helped me with my itinerary and suggested things to do around Hakone. Kindness and generosity are rare things in this world, but Mac has plenty of both. Thank you Mr. Mac!

The owner Mack made us feel very welcome and assisted us with all our queries. He is a well travelled and interesting man and we had lots of chats. Our breakfasts were excellent and every night Mack cooked us a wonderful meal.
His place is across the road from the ferry and bus terminal so very easy to get around. First day we saw Mt Fuji outside our bedroom window. After that the mountains were too cloudy. A very beautiful part of the world.
Changing shoes.. one lot for upstairs and another for the dining room.
This started to be a joke with Mack as his premises are so clean.

The cleanliness of the accommodation was commendable, creating a pleasant environment. One of the highlights was the option to choose between Japanese and Western-style rooms, allowing guests to immerse themselves in the local culture. Opting for the Japanese-style room provided a unique and memorable experience. The breakfast offered was simple but satisfying, with egg and toast to start the day. The host was exceptionally friendly and provided valuable recommendations for local activities. If luck is on your side, you might even catch a glimpse of Mount Fuji from rooms A or B. The accommodation is conveniently accessible by public bus, making transportation hassle-free.
One of the drawbacks of this accommodation was its less-than-optimal location. In the evenings, most of the nearby restaurants were closed, limiting dining options. However, the accommodation does offer a hotpot dinner for 5000 yen for two people (hotpot-like dinner). Another downside was that the bathroom facilities felt somewhat outdated, lacking modern amenities. Considering the relatively simple accommodations provided, the price seemed relatively high, which could be attributed to the desirable Hakone location. Otherwise, one might expect more value for the price. Furthermore, check-in was only available from 3:00 PM, leaving guests waiting, even though it felt like the rooms were ready beforehand (since the checkout time was early at 10:00 AM).

Very near to the lake. Owner cooked breakfast for us.
There is no lift to the second floor and the staircase is very narrow. The building is a bit old but was ok.

we love everything about the property. The owner was super hospitable. Going above and beyond making sure our stay was memorable. Chicken hotpot was superb and certainly warm the stomachs and hearts.
House is opposite Lake Ashi and in the morning, Mount Fuji can be seen very clearly.

The host (Mac) was the friendliest host. So attentive and made sure I had my itinerary set for the day, was comfortable with my room and made a delicious breakfast every morning. He was so funny and made this the best stay I've had in Japan!

the owners were amazing, the stay really authentic and the location fabulous, just across the street of the bus terminal and sightseeing ferry Harbour. we had dinner at the property and that was fantastic as well!
if you have a light sleep like I do, it may be difficult to fall asleep and stay asleep, as the street can be quite noisy (I think there was a car race happening that night) and it’s getting light early as you cannot darken the windows.

The in keeper was so friendly and so helpful. He helped us plan our daily itinerary. Food was excellent and he did his best to cater for our fussy eater kids.
No complaints about the hotel. Only location was limited for finding eateries. But inn keeper made wonderful dinner.

great location- short walk to pirate ship and bus stop. Owner very nice man, went out of his way to help us plan our day hike and travel back to train station. Good breakfast included
Japanese style room comfortable- great nights sleep
toilet seat had fur glued down. did not like for hygiene reasons

Very personable host went out of his way to make sure we were comfortable plus give traveler advice
Extremely noisy motorcycles all night stopping at the traffic light infront of the hotel and reving their engines . Hard to get quality sleep but that’s no fault of the owner

It surprised us to find out how good the dinner was there. We pre-ordered a chicken hotpot for two. Not only was it delicious, the service was excellent. The host spoke excellent English and was eager to help. Indeed in his early twenties, he was a student studying in Taxes. But it took some talent for him to speak and act, as if he had lived in the US for decades. The inn was only a 3-minute walk from the Hakonemachi harbor and the bus stop. So, it was really a very convenient location to launch our daily sightseeing trips around Lake Ashi and the whole Hokone area. When we left for Kyoto (via Mishima) with heavy luggage in tow, it was really a blessing to be able to reach the bus stop in just 3 minutes. The room was spotless and the beds were comfy. The heater in the bedroom was working very well in the cold night. The bathroom had no heating of its own, so it was a little bit cold there in mid-November. But we opened its door to the bedroom beforehand and had the hot water running for a few minutes before taking a shower, so it was not too bad.
It would be great if the owner could place a space heater in the bathroom in the winter.

Mac was fantastic, very informative and funny. He was an extremely pleasant host and the dinner was delicious. I'm vegetarian so Mac made sure to cook something that suits my dietary needs.
The place itself is super close to public transportation and motohakone is only a 20-25 min walk which is what I did when I wanted to go over there.
Nothing, it was a very pleasant stay

A great little hotel right next to the pirate ship cruise port on Lake Ashi. The hosts were amazing, very knowledgeable and incredibly helpful always answering any questions and requests with a smile and a joke. They also have a restaurant where they serve a lovely breakfast and in the evening a meal of the day, when we were there it was an amazing pork Shabu Shabu. The location is quiet and the room is cosy. Really made us feel welcome arigato gozaimasu!
Nothing.

Great location for everything plus it is just a minute away from the bus stop. And the best part of staying here is the owner, Makoto-san. He was so helpful and accommodating to us. Would really want to stay here again.

The location was incredible, and Mac the owner was even better (thank you Mac for giving us wonderful recommendations for everywhere to go and how to get there)! The Japanese style room was just like I imagined, and if the weather was clearer we could have seen Fuji out the window.
There were occasional audibe car noises in the middle of the night, but probably less frequently than a busier part of town

This is the perfect inn for a couple or solo-traveler. Easily the best part was the SUPERIOR customer service! The owner is so hospitable and knowledgeable! He helped me plan the perfect day in Hakone, telling me which sights were "must-see" locations (and he was 100% right), and explaining local cultures and customs to me. Both breakfast (included) and dinner (not included, but extremely reasonably priced) were delicious! The location was perfect -right across from the bus stop and a 30 second walk to the gorgeous Lake Ashi. Highly recommend!
The beds were quite hard, but that tends to be fairly standard in traditional Japanese hotels (based on my experience). The location was absolutely stunning, but the area did shut down by about 6 p.m. (1800). That may have been due to the season in which I was traveling - fall. The Inn's restaurant stayed open until 8 p.m. though, so dinner was not an issue!

Exceptional location, right next to a bus stop so accessing is very easy. Great view of lake Ashi and Mt Fuji. The owner is very friendly and can speak English fluently.

The proprietor of Jemsty Inn was absolutely delightful. He speaks fluent English, is so kind & helpful and even cooked us fully vegan food for dinner and breakfast. We could not have been better looked after.
The room is also clean, quiet, spacious and well heated.
The beds are a little firm. I have a sore shoulder right now, so I noticed this more than I would have otherwise.
