About this house rental
This property is quietly located near the end of the cul-da-sac making it a very peaceful retreat.
As you pull up you will notice all new windows, doors, siding, and landscaping.
The view from the living room is amazing!
We do have 3 docks that we share with all of our houses, I have never seen all 3 docks full. We have plenty of room for any boat you can tow with you.
The house has 7 queen beds. 3 private upstairs rooms and 2 rooms downstairs with 2 beds each.

Full size kitchen upstairs furnished with all the basic cooking utensils. If you are cooking for a large group please bring extra or specifics with you. We can not predict what each and every customer will need so we supply the basics and ask you bring the rest. If we stocked the cabinets with everything anyone might need the cabinets would be full, disorganized, and half of it would get stolen over time. Hard plates and dishes provided.
No spices provided, no aluminum foil, no storage bags, no crockpot. Dollar General is 2 blocks away.
Drip style coffee maker, please bring your coffee of choice.
All bed linens, towels, dish soap, dishwasher soap, and hand soap are provided.
All full sized appliances including washer and dryer.
Downstairs has a large kitchenette. Lots of counter space, large fridge, sink, and bar area.
Mediacom wireless internet is provided. They are our only available provider. OCCASIONALLY they go offline for short periods of time. I'm sorry but this is country living. I live with the same internet... if yours is out mine is out..... we can be sad together.... or go outside and do whatever we did before internet!!
!!!!! IMPORTANT INFORMATION. !!!! The living rooms upstairs and down both have new large HDTVs with a ROKU steaming devise on each. Roku is our only form of "TV programing" NO cable, satellite, or antenna. This house has rented for over a year and I have never had anyone complain about the programming abilities. Please read and understand this prior to arrival. No tvs in the bedrooms.
The back deck has 2 tables that will seat 4 each. The downstairs patio has a pic-nic table that will easily hold 6 people.
The water is easily accessible. The bottom is muddy. If you walk just a bit further to the point on the main channel side the bottom is rock and a little nicer for swimming
We have 6 pontoons onsite available for rent. We do recommend reservations in advance. No charge for complete rain outs. If the sun is out you are expected to use and pay for the boat. No half day rentals. The boats are first come first serve. Occasionally things happen and boats must be taken out for service, obviously we try to do this when they aren't rented but if something unexpected occurs we will have to cancel your boat reservation. We do have over flow parking near by. This house has a small parking area.
Att and Verizon work well outside and fair inside. I can not speak for other providers as I haven't personally experienced them.
*Offsite-a 5 person pass to the Lake Barkley State Park fitness center is available with this house. This is where the pool, hot tub, and workout facility is located. Approximately 4-5 miles away. The facility is closed in Sunday. Please check with the park to make sure everything is operating as it should, we are not responsible for any of their maintenance issues.
Pets are allowed if they are under 40lbs. NO exceptions! This house has new hardwood throughout the upstairs and I'd like to keep it new as long as possible. Pets are $100 each with a 2 pet maximum. Pets must be crated when left in the house alone. Please pick up after your pet. DO NOT ALLOW male dogs to hike their leg on ANY landscaping/bushes/shrubs in the neighborhood. Dog urine will cause the plant to turn brown and die. This rule goes for the entire neighborhood. If this accidentally happens please pour water on the area immediately. If I or a staff member observe any of the pet rules broken your deposit will be forfeited. Please do not allow your dog to constantly bark, if you have a constant barker please leave them at home. Our guests come to the lake to have fun and relax without noise distractions. We want the property to be as beautiful for the next guest as it was when you arrived.
With being on the lake there is always a chance of bugs, please understand we do everything we can to keep the outside of the house clean but sometimes it just is not possible. June, July, and August have what is called a Mayfly hatch occasionally, they do not bite and are good for fishing.
I do not visit unless you request I stop by, you are on vacation and I'm sure I'm late for something so I try to give you complete privacy. I am always close or I can have a staff member help if you need something.

My family celebrated dual birthdays while on our long weekend vacation and we could not had chosen a better place. The view of the lake was wonderful from the front porch while we sipped coffee every morning together. Our 93 year old mother accompanied us and was able to get around quite nicely on her walker on the main floor. Thank you for a relaxing time on Barkley lake.

Family weekend at the lake! This was our second time renting from Lucas! Everything was just as he states and we enjoyed every minute! Rented one of the pontoons for two days which was an added fun time and convenience for a lake stay! Will certainly be back!

We had a family trip with the grands. Age range 10-71. There were 9 of us and plenty of space to eat/sit together and time apart for privacy. Beautiful property with so much to offer. We rented a pontoon with a slide, kayaks and horseback riding! S’mores at the firepit by the lake. Wonderful views of the lake on the huge balcony that is the length of the house. Hosts are very accommodating. Wonderful times had by all

We thoroughly enjoyed our family gathering for Spring Break! Lucas is an amazing host. Breathtaking views of sunrise and sunsets. Nature surrounds as we enjoyed seeing a fox, cranes, eagles, loons and more. Even caught a few fish right off the dock. Made many family memories with kids and grandkids. Thank you!

The home was as described except for the extras. Upon arriving, as soon as you opened the door, the smell of cedar was all around you and the view was BEAUTIFUL!!! The downstairs freezer was stocked with a bag of ice. There was plenty to watch on TV with the Roku. The fishing was great and I caught 4 nice size catfish, and several bass, including striped bass and small mouth bass. The trees were in full color and loved watching the cranes, bald eagle and otters from the main floor deck. We took our golf cart and enjoyed driving around the area and hit the Dollar Store several times when we needed anything and it was just a few blocks down to it.
There were games and playing cards provided and did I mention the fabulous view??? The sunrises were breath taking!!!!
Lucas was awesome to deal with and we will definitely be back!!

We have stayed at this home for the last 3 years and the home is large enough for our family. We love the location on the water and the dock that we can bring our own watercraft. The house is always clean and Lucas is super helpful and quick to respond when needed! We appreciate the nice appliances and the grill because we do a lot of cooking while there. We always bring a folding table and chairs because the table there does not accommodate us all. There are 13 of us and ages range from 1-76. This is the 5th year we have rented from Lucas. We look forward to many more vacations at his property.

Absolutely loved our stay. The house was great and the location was perfect for what we wanted. We had 10 adults and 3 young children and we just wanted to spend time together and get a lot of lake time in with our boat. This place delivered. We had access to several docks for our boat including a covered one and the cove was perfect for setting up a float pad to let everyone have fun in the water. The beds were comfortable, the kitchen had all the basics and we were able to grill out and have bon fires every night. Communication with the owner was great. We needed a couple things during our stay and came up with some questions and he accommodated us promptly every time. Thanks for everything.

The property was close to Hwy 68, but far enough back that there was no road noise. Walking distance from the Dollar General and gas station. Plenty of room for us to spread out and plenty of beds. Kitchen adequately stocked, even for preparing "big" meals. The mist on the inlet in the morning was breathtaking!. We grew up in the area, so know that Cadiz is not an entertainment center, but we came to enjoy each other and visit extended family. We'll be back!

It’s hard to imagine a better location for lake-gazing, relaxing, and boating. My husband and daughter had a great time kayaking (available from Lucas) and swimming, while I spent most of the time simply enjoying the location. We were only three—four, but the house is huge and perfect for family get-togethers and writing groups, offering plenty of privacy as well as great spaces for everyone to get together. Lucas was a perfect host—he even found a way for us to stay an extra night next door when we had a key glitch with our car. It’s not a criticism, but a word of guidance: The kitchen is sparsely equipped, so if you plan on cooking anything but the basics and/or for a crowd, bring a large frying pan with you (and of course whatever spices, etc. you need.) When my friend came for two days near the end of our stay I alerted her ahead of time, she came equipped and we made two fabulous meals together. On the other hand, if you only plan on minimal cooking, it’s fine!!

The area was really nice and quiet. The floor plan is soo spacious. Every morning I was amazed all over again at the amazing view from the back deck. Everyone loved the easy access to go fishing and boating! Lucas was very pleasant and offered quick assistance if needed. Needless to say were planning a repeat next year! Thanks!!!

Wonderful stay at this lakeside cabin! The home has beautiful woodwork and furniture throughout. The lower level is finished in cedar and smells wonderful! Lots of room to gather and great access to the water and docks. The host is very responsive and helpful. Perfect place for family and friends

We had a lovely girls retreat. There were 7 of us and we each got our own bed! The house was spacious and clean and full of light. There were so many windows with lake views. We had amazing weather and so enjoyed watching the lake while visiting on the balcony. I loved the rustic style with all the wood and the smell of cedar was wonderful. Four of us rented kayaks and really enjoyed our excursions on the lake. It was all so very peaceful and perfectly fit our needs. Definitely keeping this place in mind for the future.

Lucas owns more than one property in close vicinity which is ideal for large group gatherings! We rented 2 houses and cooked a big meal and met together for our Thanksgiving meal. We had family from South Carolina and all over Illinois! Lovely trip. Beautiful property.

The house was perfect for our stay. I recommend getting a full size mirror for the girls. We had a great time and got to spend a few days out on the boat. The lake water was extremely low so it is not the best recreational lake for swimming. The view/location is definitely worth it for a get-away.

Can't be any more complimentary of Lucas and his property/area , 5 Stars all around ( i would give more but it wont let me ...) Property was exactly like described - more than enough room - especially since we had 4 of our group need to back out for covid concerns , but if we had 9 and 2 dogs it was still more than enough room - The teens stayed to the downstairs and the adults would have upstairs free . As mentioned in listing - basic items available for cooking/ cleaning , our size group it was perfect - anything you need above that , the Dollar General is right down the road. I would suggest if large groups / cooking bring cookware that you know will work for your needs , The location is perfect , quiet and calm - the house long back deck is perfect for sitting and relaxing looking at the lake, dog loved it - All want to come back when the lake is accessible for the pontoon boat rental.

The property is exactly where we were hoping, right on the water, very peaceful, very quiet, no noise or light pollution, very restful. The areas that you would expect to be clean were, the kitchen , the refrigerator, and the bathroom on the main floor. Lots of fluffy, clean white towels.However, it appeared to all of us that the areas that aren’t on the “ check list” to be cleaned, certainly weren’t. When I pulled back the coverlet on our bed, there was hair and dead bugs. Things get missed, it happens. I striped the bed and washed the linens. The downstairs bathroom area around the toilet is spongy, and corners are gross. Our biggest problems were the grill didn’t look like it had EVER been cleaned, the porch had broken chairs, and a plastic bucket of trash. Being from the south, I 100% get that water attracts bugs, but the windows hadn’t been cleaned in clearly several stays, I had to ask for window cleaner, and ALL of the tracks of the doors had about an inch of dead bugs. The property that is listed is accurate, however a few things that you take for granted , such as at least one full length mirror, dish towels, and a clean porch and more than 3 large glasses were not provided.

We rented the pontoon boat 2 days & had beautiful weather & a great day! Lucas was very accommodating for any questions we had. We will definitely be back!

Our weekend stay at this beautiful lakehouse was amazing! The pictures were a very accurate depiction of the rooms, and it seemed to be bigger than we expected. The space was perfect for three couples and small children, with beds to spare. The view from the giant back patio/balcony was beautiful and it was so peaceful and quiet! Everything was very clean (except for the grill that we were pre-warned about). The kitchen and dining area was nice and open for cooking and sitting together to enjoy meals as a big group. The descriptions for the property was very detailed, clear and helpful (e.g. bring your own coffee, spices, and plastic wrap/foil). It would have been nice to have a working corkscrew to open wine, and a set of bowls for morning cereal.Finding the property was super easy, as well as check in and check out. We were a bit disappointed that the kayak wasnt available, but swimming in the lake behind the property was fun and easy for kids too. The lake was a bit low, but very calm since its not on the main channel (the bottom is muddy, so be prepared for that). We had a wonderful time at this property and would recommend it for a group of friends, or a big family get together for a weekend or even longer! We hope to come back again next year!

My husband and myself, along with 3 other couples stayed at the cabin in August 2019. It was perfect! We rented a pontoon off the owner so we were able to use his docks and the guys had a great time fishing! We all enjoyed our minication so much! We all hope to get to come back soon!

This was a fabulous location on Lake Barkley. The neighborhood was quiet and peaceful. The cabin was big enough for our entire family (and big enough for the teens to have their own space). The ability to use the docks and beach area was a huge plus! (Just a note: Have sandals for the beach area because of rocks. But, it didn't stop us!) Boat ramp was 1/2 mile away, which was quite convenient. The covered porches were perfect for all times of the day (including when it rained)! And the view! Wow! Also, the owner was extremely helpful when needed.
