About this house rental
This house is truly a remarkable work of art. It was built to resemble an old stone barn and does so beautifully.
On the bottom floor there are two bedrooms both with en suite bathrooms. One bedroom has a king size bed while the other has a queen. There is a study just outside the master bedroom with a twin bed. Upstairs you will find a magnificent Great Room. At the one end there is a seating area in front of a gorgeous stone fireplace. At the other end you can sit and take in the Aran Islands, Galway Bay and breathtaking sunsets through the floor-to-ceiling windows.
In the center of the room, there is a kitchen area with an antique table. Also, hidden behind the fireplace, there is a powder room. The entire house has under floor heating which is truly decadent in the cool Irish countryside.
For those of you who wish to leave the house you will find abundant entertainment. There is a gorgeous sand beach just down the road. For the golfers in your group there is a world-class golf course just a few towns over in Lahinch. Also in Lahinch you will find some of the country's best surfing. Fanore is not as renowned for its surfing but does have a surf school every summer. And for those of you music lovers, Doolin is just one town over and is renowned for its traditional Irish music.
In addition Doolin has many incredible restaurants and pubs. And if you need to get out of the countryside and into a city, Galway is just an hour away. It’s a wonderful city. Despite its small size you can find most anything you need there. If you’re looking for a great bottle of Irish Whiskey or an unusual bottle of wine, go to The Vineyard then stop by Sheridan’s Cheesemongers where you will find an amazing selection of cheese from around the world. But for those who wish to explore Fanore, you will find gorgeous scenic walks and some of the best angling in the country. And if you want to see things from s different angle, go horseback riding. You’ll love it.
The house is just up the road from O'Donohue's Pub and a small grocery shop. Both of them are within walking distance.
**Please be aware that there is a cleaning fee to be left in Euros on your move out day and is calculated using the number of people in your party.
1-2 people: €100
3-4 people: €125
Additional €50 per pet added to cleaning fee.
The maximum number of guests is 4. If there are more people staying in the house than your reservation specifies, you will be required to pay the cleaning fee for the number of people who stayed. If you exceed the maximum number of guests, we will hold your ENTIRE security deposit. No exceptions.

Very comfy house in a stunning location, views for ever.
Comfy bed and lots of space, friendly property manager Anna. A truly stunning part of the world to visit.

I can't say enough about the Stone House and Fanore in general. We had an incredible stay at this property. Communication with the owner and the property manager were stellar, and the property and location were fantastic for our family of four. If this property is available, don't hesitate to reserve. You will not be disappointed.

This is one of those special places that the fantastic pictures can’t even capture. From the view to the location to the communication with Dierdre and Anna, this was easily our best vacation rental ever. We had so much fun exploring the area - based largely on the incredible guidance from Dierdre. And Anna was such a delight when we arrived. If they ever sell this place, the line of prospective buyers will be long, but we will be in it! If you’re reading this and considering staying here, go ahead and book it. You’ll be so pleased that you did. We will be back for sure.

A magical stay within a stones throw of the sea. Stone House is everything you would want it to be. Fanore beach is mesmerizing.

My mom, 89, wanted a place where she and her kids could be together in comfort and see something new. The Stone House was the perfect base from which to explore the west coast of Ireland. The house was creative and cozy and special. We absolutely loved it and would recommend it to anyone.

We have stayed in many vacation rentals over the years and I can easily say that this one has been the best. The Stone House prives that a rental can be even better than the pictures show. When we first saw this on VRBO, the whole family agreed that it was the ine for us and it did not disappoint. Communication, check in, the stay, and checkout were all a breeze. The house itself and its surroundings simply exemplify the magic of Ireland's western coast. If you are even considering staying at the Stone House, don't let it get away. Our stay was simply perfect!

This house checked all of the boxes. Location, cleanliness, amenities, and especially the feeling of home. My son and I were on holiday and wanted to explore the Burren. We were exceptionally pleased with this rental. I highly recommend this beautiful home.

Perfect for the spectacular oceanfront location. Perfect for architecture, decoration and equipment. Perfect for the friendly and helpful but discreet welcome.
The Stone House is the most beautiful house we have stayed in during our many holidays in Ireland.
Living in it makes your stay unforgettable: for the view of the ocean from the terrace but also the views from each of the many windows; for architecture with spacious rooms for shared moments and welcoming for private moments; for the magnificent taste in furnishings and decoration, in which everything is chosen and combined with the highest care. Every material speaks of Ireland, every color recalls the shades of the Clare lights, every painting tells a small Irish story.
Thank you Deirdre and Joan for sharing your beautiful home. For us it was the place of a halfway meeting between Italy and the United States that we had been waiting for for years. Thank you for the evenings in front of the wonderful fireplace. A round of applause for the absence of television.

Fantastic house in a magical setting close to the water. Panoramic 180 views of the sea which you really don't see in the pictures. Quiet, comfortable - the underfloor heating was so effective in late October.
Easy access to neighboring towns and sights. Surprised to find no TV - they really should let you know that. But finally it was grand not to have a one. Card games in front of the fire were the antidote. Can't wait to go back.
Thank you to the LIghtfoots!!

The view is stunning, the house beautifully decorated, and has every amenity. The great room is such a wonderful space to hang out in. I can't imagine anything improving these houses. Plenty of hot water, working fireplaces, kitchen well equipped.
And the area is fantastic as well. Loved listening to music at pubs in Doolin. Great guide for walk on Burren (Tony Kirby). We were in heaven! Thank you!

This was our second stay at the Stone House and it was just as wonderful as the first time. We were greeted at the house by Anna and she is simply delightful! Our group enjoys cooking and the kitchen and the big long table are amazing. The view from the deck is breathtaking and we enjoyed several lovely sunsets. The photos of the house don’t really do it justice. This is a place that needs to be experienced. The Lightfoot family (who we had the pleasure of meeting on this trip) having lovingly created a truly magical destination. We’re so grateful for our time in Fanore or look forward to the next visit. Thank you friends!

The views from the balcony are breathtaking. This house is the perfect place to escape from city life. The only drawback of the location is the lack of places to eat close by. There is one pub, but the menu is limited to burgers right now, and the pub simply did not open on the Wednesday night of our stay.
The house is beautiful and spacious - if you are looking for a quiet, peaceful place to enjoy quiet solitude…this is it. Enjoy!

Incredible views and sunsets from the house. In our travels through Ireland, these were the most comfortable beds we slept in. Check in and out was a breeze. The owners were very responsive and provided a lot of information. Beautiful home.

This home is exactly what comes to mind when you say Irish Getaway- the home, the setting, the feel. The Stone House is comfortable, cozy, clean and well stocked. We enjoyed sitting on the porch, listening to the waves, watching the dolphins in the water and the cows in the pasture. The bed was super comfortable and the water pressure was AWESOME! The only draw back is that you never want to leave! Thank you for a great experience!

What a lovely place and location. We thoroughly enjoyed our time there. Only complaint is no shower amenities, so bring your own soap and shampoo. Otherwise the place is terrific! The Wild Atlantic did not disappoint! Huge waves, wind and white caps, terrific views. Loved the Stone House. .

We visited this past January and were delighted, once again, with the home and surrounds. Check-in was a breeze with Anna (she could not be more helpful) and we quickly settled in for our week's stay. Yeah, far fewer coaches and tourists in winter! Walks from the house to the nearby beach (past the ponies) and then back again to have a lovely meal in the well supplied kitchen. Then, after watching the sunset we always ended the evening by the lovely fireside. Go to the pub, you can walk there. We had a lovely evening with some local folks and Pat. Shop at SuperValu in Ennistymon. Shop at Mick and Mary's (very kind people) across from O'Donohughe's. Take the walk from Doolin to the Cliffs of Moher if you are fit. Eat at Anthony's and the Ballinalacken castle if going in Summer.
Whatever your fancy, know that this two-bedroom home will be a delight.

The house is comfortable, well designed and has a beautiful view out onto the ocean. The location is perfect, you are a 15 minute walk from the beautiful Fanore beach and a 20 minute drive into Doolin town with it's brilliant pubs and music. We spent a lot of our time by the fire, cooking and drinking wine, it was perfect for a New Year getaway.

The Stone House was a wonderful place for us to spend our Christmas away from home. We'd been visiting Ireland and staying in places with slightly closer quarters, so it was nice to spread out a little and have some privacy, yet at the same time, the communal living room/kitchen/dining area gave us some wonderful family memories.
The Burren landscape was phenomenal! We walked the winter beaches everyday and my husband Brian did a bit more exploring rambling up the hill behind the village. The kids (17, 19, and 20 ) and I did a Christmas Day plunge at Fanore Beach.
We met some locals that were very fond of the Lightfoot Family. Pat at O'Donahue's was lovely, and we met one of the twins and had a nice chat with him on Christmas Eve. at the pub. Coming from the Pacific Northwest prepped us for the weather, but it did not prep us for the ever changing light. We were constantly taking in the shifts in color over the Atlantic and the surrounding hills. This has been something we've noticed everywhere we've gone in Ireland, but it was particularly striking at Fanore.
We are fans of your home and your village- we could only wish to have spent a longer stretch! Maybe next time!!!

A wonderful stay. Hope to be back. You can never rely on the sun in Ireland but being that close to the sea allows you to enjoy the elements and the setting, come rain or shine. Lovely pints of stout in ODonohues for the grown ups and nooks, crannies and hiding spots for the kids to explore in the garden.

We have travelled all over the world and have stayed in many places. The Stone House is by far the best.

Fanore is a wonderful place to enjoy the quiet Burren coast, and we visit this part of Ireland often. This is a great house which offers a stunning view and sounds of the ocean from the great room. A mature garden screens its glass-doored primary bedroom. Well-equipped kitchen. Neighbor Anna greeted us and checked in to ensure we enjoyed our stay. We are planning our return visit.
