The Alcove at Luray is a beautiful retreat for large families, and groups. The large home is on 6 acres of land, has 4 fire pits, 2 grills, and lots of open land. The home also features a large wrap around deck. The firepit in the backyard where you can enjoy nature, the magnificent mountain views, (which can also be seen "up the hill" but close to the main rd. Enjoy the sunrise and family time / game night on the front screened porch.

Our location is convenient to groups visiting local attractions such as Luray Caverns, Shenandoah National Park, Shenandoah Valley river, skiing resorts, old town Luray, etc.. These are just a few of the many places to visit locally and are only minutes away from the home. You Will Enjoy the Home Privately Along With All Amenities.

The home is equipped with a Chef's Kitchen, 2nd kitchenette, two dining rooms (table for 6 each), 2 huge living rooms (with seating for 12 to 24 in each), screened porch, wrap around deck. The house has a total of eight bedrooms (8 queen/3 full beds, 1 King, and 3 sleeper sofa’s in total), 2 are master bedrooms and 6 are bedrooms with Jack and Jill bathrooms, a total of 5 1/2 bath rooms. Family rooms include large screen TV’s with cable channels, and 3 of 8 bedrooms have cable and flat screen TV’s. Along with the abundance of seating in the spacious family rooms, there are plenty of board games, card games, and other family fun diversions. The 10 acres of land surround the property is very beautiful. Three fire pits on the property, each with their own view and atmosphere. One- located up the hill, stunning views of the mountains and sunrise (close to the highway) One- under the shade of trees of fruits, and the main fire pit is in the back yard by the deck, this fire pit has mountain views and a view of our backyard neighbors farm of live cattle (amazing). We have 2 foldable outdoor tables for our guest to set up picnic anywhere on the property.

Our home set up and layout is uniquely decorative. The 5,500 sqft home is all one level and extends all the way back, so the front appears to be a small family modest home. You get both a warm cozy homey feel and a bed and breakfast feel the whole family can enjoy. The Alcove is the perfect place to spend your vacation, with its relaxing and picturesque atmosphere.

The Alcove at Luray is Family Owned and Managed. We Are Local and Just a Phone Call Away. We handle all of our bookings-no property manager and we like to talk to guests before they make their reservations, in case you have any questions. Give us a call. This house was perfect for our group that was just there a few days to hike Old Rag. Jane was great to work with. The house was clean and has lots of room for large groups. The drive is about 40 minutes to Old Rag.

We had a family get together and really enjoyed the stay at the property. Lots of bedrooms and space for everyone. Close to stores and downtown Luray which was nice as well. Would recommend and consider staying again if circumstances permit.

The house has an unusual layout but it worked very well for our family holiday gathering. We had 14 adults, including 4 couples, plus a 3 year old and an infant. There are 5 good sized bedrooms down a long hall, opposite a large living room we used for games. Three more bedrooms are in a different wing with the kitchen, dining area and another living room. It offers privacy but is very close to Luray Caverns. The 3 year old was especially taken with watching the animals on the farm behind the house. This may not be the best choice for guests wanting a modern, upscale home, but we were quite content there. It even had a Christmas tree and large Santa figure by the fireplace.

wonderful house had so much space my son got married and we had family coming in from 4 countries. The bedrooms were amazing the space was amazing. I suggest this for any big family event. Only suggestion get a dishwasher other than that it was fantastic.

We had a family group of 11 stay at The Alcove. Plenty of room for everyone. Unique floor plan worked great for us. Comfortable beds. Super clean. We read all the reviews and comments thoroughly so we knew what to expect. DSL is DSL. However we tied into two zoom meetings without issue. My Sister-in-law ate a pear off the tree outside and declared it the best ever. Never ran out of hot water. Parking was abundant. Location is great. So close to everything. It’s an older place and has its quirks but that made it fun!

We thoroughly enjoyed our stay at the Alcove at Luray. The house was clean and it had plenty of bedrooms and dining areas for our large group of college friends and their young families. Jane was quick to answer any questions we had and made sure that we were well taken care of. The Alcove is located off of a busy highway, which made access a little tricky at times, but it also was within easy driving distance of various attractions such as the caverns, hiking trails and Ralph H. Dean Recreation Park, which has one of the best playground areas that I've ever seen! The only reason for 4 stars rather than 5 is because the outside areas were a little unkept during our stay. There are dead trees in the yard, the chicken coop is overgrown and has poison ivy growing next to it, and we found a hornets nest under a stump in the yard (which we notified the property manager of). The grass was also a little long for easy play. We would definitely consider staying at the Alcove again, and if they clean up the outside areas a bit, it would be an easy 5-star review!

The Alcove was a pleasant surprise. Jane was very kind to give us a tour of the property and let us know everything about it. It is ideal for a large family looking to spend time with each other. Also very close to supermarket and grocery. Ideal location and close enough to do any sight seeing and come back. Overall the property is large and spacious for everyone to have fun.

Very clean! Lots of room. Don't be afraid of the kitchen it will all work just fine. We loved it. We could only stay for a weekend, but wished we had more time to stay longer. So much better that staying in a motel!!!

We were 6 families (23 people) staying in the location. The house was very spacious and the kitchen was large enough for cooking for so many. We also used the grill outdoors. It was a little dirty, but a quick scrub and we were able to use it. Jane was very quick to respond. Overall, it was a very pleasant experience.

The Alcove is ideally located 5 min from downtown Luray, from Luray Caverns and close to some good restaurants. Beds were comfy and the living room had more than enough seating for the family as did the screened in porch though if you use all 8 bedrooms, you will need a few more seats on the porch. Wi Fi worked great as did the large TV. Don't let the industrial kitchen scare you away as everything was provided though a toaster would be a good addition.. There is no dishwasher. Do bring your own shampoo and body wash. This is not a modern, "up to date" property. It could best be described as unconventional, but again comfortable and provided us with all we needed.

We stayed here as a group of 7 families. Right from the checkin, home tour, Jane had been a great hostess. The property was splendid, and huge even for a big group like us. The cleanliness was impeccable and kids enjoyed every bit of the space. She was very flexible and even extended the checkout time for a few more hours. This house was absolutely perfect for our large group of 10. There are 8 bedrooms, 5.5 baths and TONS of outdoor and indoor living space. There is not a washer/dryer or dishwasher, so plan accordingly. The check in process was smooth, well managed and very attentive. The rural area is gorgeous, especially for outdoor enthusiasts. I feel I should mention it is an older, eclectic property. We for sure would return! Our large group of adults, teens, kids and a dog all had a wonderful time. 🥰

Lots of space to move around and plenty of beds. We were there for the weekend of the 4th and found everything to be as mentioned in the listing. The end rooms don't get as much cooling from the AC and there are no fans in those 2 rooms. Apart from that everything else was amazing. Jane was very helpful in giving us the tour and responding to any questions within minutes. Will definitely stay here again.

This is our second year visiting Jean's property. We gather our family (as many of our combined ten kids and their families who can make it) for an early Thanksgiving. The beds are comfy, the seating plentiful, and the kitchen large enough for a bunch of cooks and helping hands. We hope to be coming back for years to come!

Spent an enjoyable weekend with my family at this location. The house is extremely large and could accommodate a very large number of people. We found it had everything we could have hoped for including multiple dining rooms and living rooms. We enjoyed the outside fire pits on two evening with the grandchildren. It was easy to locate and has plenty of parking. The enclosed front porch is also a nice feature. I would highly recommend for anyone with large groups as there is a huge amount of space and no shortage of living areas. The kitchen was also user friendly, doesn't have a dishwasher but the (3) basin sink is almost commercial oriented and made clean-up quick and easy. The separate chest freezer was handy to hold our bags of ice for our libations!

Really big place. the 6 kids that we have with us were able to use up all their vacation sugars in and outside of the house! super close to walmart and tourist attractions. A pool or a hot tub would be a great addition, we think.

A beautiful house (or, I would rather say, a mini-hotel) in a very convenient location. Luray Caverns, various trails (not to mention a plaza with Walmart) are within a few minutes drive. 16 people had no problems with accommodation. The owner was very responsive, and even provided us an opportunity to extend the checkout time on January 1st. The only problem was heating. It was quite uneven. Some rooms were very hot, while others were cold (all thermostats were set at the same temperature). We all enjoyed our stay very much! Thanks, Jane!

All rooms were clean on arrival with fresh towels, blankets, and linens. Plenty of parking for 16 motorcycles and a chase truck and trailer. Nice firepit and grill on the side of the house. Wheelchair accessible. Close to Luray shopping centers.
