About this house rental
Are you a fan of HGTV's Fixer Upper? Step into the world of Chip and Joanna Gaines and experience the ultimate Waco getaway at The Giraffe House - the charming three-bedroom abode featured on HGTV's Fixer Upper Season 4, Episode 15. This delightful home is the perfect retreat for anyone looking for a one-of-a-kind stay just minutes away from downtown Waco and all the Magnolia and Baylor hotspots.
While the home was originally celebrated on the show for its uniqueness from their other properties, it still features the signature Chip and Jo style that we all know and love. The Giraffe House exudes a cozy cottage vibe with modern upgrades and eclectic touches that will make you feel right at home.
Lounge on the inviting front porch swing, or head to the spacious backyard for a relaxing retreat. The open living room boasts stunning herringbone flooring salvaged from the bakery, while the pantry doors were a magnificent find from the garage renovation.
The fully equipped kitchen is ready for anything, while the upstairs bathroom is a true masterpiece with a wooden beam and rock from the house's exterior. And if you need a quiet spot to unwind, the upstairs office/reading nook is the perfect place to kick back and relax.
While most of the homes featured on the show are chosen by couples looking for a new place to call home, this particular property received some special attention from Chip and Jo. The couple purchased it as an investment property before completely envisioning and remodeling the home. Originally owned and occupied by the Matsumotos, the brother of the director of Fixer Upper, since its sale, Jo has mentioned her adoration for the home, showing that it still has a special place in her heart.
Waco Vacation Rentals manages the Giraffe House and is always available 24/7 during your stay. Contact and info will be sent 7 days prior to your arrival date as well as info regarding things to do and places to see while in Waco.

We loved staying at one the Fixer Upper houses. Everything we needed was available. The neighborhood was a little disappointing but we all felt safe. The backyard was nice for our youngster, but some overused toys and other items could be removed. Fresh paint is needed on the front porch and back door.

LOVED the house! It's so much fun and functional! We have a toddler so the playground in the back sold us, then I fell absolutely in love with the convertible toilet seat for the little one. All the details in this house are perfect. We love to take family walks, so on the first night we walked a couple of blocks and turned back, that's the only negative. Never felt unsafe in the house, just not a really walkable neighborhood.

I reserved this house for a mother-daughter trip to Waco. We were excited to watch the Fixer Upper episode featuring this house in the weeks before we traveled.
The rental contact communicated frequently prior to our arrival with instructions and add'l information about Waco. One the day of arrival, I received specific instructions on how to access the house.
We arrived and got into the house without any issues & we loved it! Very cozy bungalow size home with 3 bedrooms to choose from. House was clean and a notebook with check-in & checkout instructions, along with lots of recommendations for eating & shopping in Waco was left out for us.
The rental contact stayed in touch throughout our stay to be sure we were doing alright, and I knew I could contact them if we needed anything. Really appreciated their accessibility.
The house is very comfortable, but the upstairs bedroom does stay a bit warmer than the rest of the house. I do think they could add some hangars to the closets, and some towel hooks in the bathrooms, but otherwise this is a great place to stay! Highly recommend and we cannot wait to revisit someday!

We were all so excited to stay in the Fixer Upper house! And it was more amazing than we expected!!! Stayed here for 1 night, wish we could have stayed longer! Will for sure be back! Waco was so much fun!! Went to every Magnolia store. House was amazingly decorated! Got ideas for my own house. We all had so much fun playing board games at the table eating Magnolia cupcakes! And playing twister in the upstairs gameroom! Also played in the backyard on swingset and playing football! We loved the front porch swing. Quiet neighborhood, 5 to 10 mins from all things Magnolia! Thank you for the coffee, wine, and treats, and for sharing your house!!

It was fun to stay in a Fixer Upper house from Season 4. The house is in a convenient location and worked well for our family. Our granddaughters loved playing with the toys, and on the swings and slide in the backyard.
A pack and play was available, which was super helpful. It would have been great to have a highchair, too. There was plenty of space in the kitchen and dining area.

We had a wonderful time at the Giraffe House. It was exactly as advertised, clean and welcoming. Very easy to check in and out. No problems at all. Highly recommend it.

Affordable and clean stay with the full Magnolia experience. Toddler age kids loved the backyard and house was kid friendly too. Would recommend to anyone but in particular those with young children. Only request would be a full length mirror in a bedroom or bathroom.

Beautiful, unique home from Fixer upper. Loved it. Tour bus actually drove by to see it :) As a fyi, there are very steep stairs to get to master suite.

We loved this house!!! There was plenty of room, clean, close to the HOT Livestock Show and downtown. We will definitely be staying here again next year!!!

The place was nice. The location is not awesome but we chose based on that is was the Giraffe House. It is still not far or difficult to get to what/where you want. Management was helpful and easy to communicate with. They could use a little more sitting space in the living room and the front bedroom bed squeaks/creaks each time you move. Those where the only challenges...

Neighborhood was on edge of feeling safe/unsafe. Had our kids with us and definitely wouldn’t have gone walking but immediate neighbors were fine. There was a stray cat on porch that was clearly being fed on porch and kept trying to come in house. Kids playground in the back was awesome. Dirty sock on the dresser in our room when we arrived. Lots of options for opening wine but nothing for making tea. Coffee wasn’t good. Some of the finishes felt cheaply done for as much effort as was clearly put into the home. The bedding was all polyester instead of cotton, pillows were not comfortable but beds were great.
Last detail- we booked a week before travel at which time we requested a late checkout so our kids could get a nap before departure. I didn’t get a response until the day before our departure (because I asked a second time) and they denied it since they had new guests arriving. Just bad communication and customer service.

We came to Waco, TX to check off a bucket list trip to Magnolia. The Giraffe House wad the perfect place to stay. Close to everything in Waco, TX, check-in and check-out was a breeze, and so comfortable we would encourage anyone coming to Waco to have a memorable experience stay here!

We loved this house. Had everything we needed and more. Checking in/out was very easy and hassle free. My 11 year old daughter thought it was so fun to watch the Fixer Upper Episode where Chip & Joanna remodeled it. Hope to stay again next year!

Clean, cute and close to things. Kim's diner is right around corner and food was "diner" good. Ate there twice. The only issue was that the shower is upstairs and the risers on the stairs are high (because of the age and layout of the original home). For people with bad knees, you might want to take this into consideration. But overall, we liked the quaint atmosphere.

Such a treat to stay at the Giraffe house. We are Magnolia fans so were so excited to stay at the Flipper Upper. Such a cute place to stay as a family and so close to all things Magnolia.

We had A awesome stay here at the giraffe house.. Me and my husband had to be at the Wake up. ConventionTo do continuing education because we are three generations in the septic industry Our children stayed at the house with our oldest son. And because it was fenced in the backyard and it had a children's playground it was perfect.... We will be coming back here every year.!!❤️❤️

Nice little house for a weekend getaway very relaxing, not the best neiborhood though a bit run down, but close enough to downtown Waco

We loved the giraffe house. Big fans of everything Chip and JoAnna so getting to stay in one of their project homes was great. Great home with lots of character. Close to everywhere we wanted to go. Magnolia table, the Silos and the Fixer Upper tour. Do yourself a favor and book the giraffe house

We enjoyed our visit and travelled throughout Waco to the Silos, Downtown Farmer's Market as well as the Heritage Homestead! Looking forward to coming back!

I booked this property but our plans changed so I needed to cancel several months before the booking. They charged me 10% of the rental fee to cancel even though they had several months to rebook the property. I was not aware of this policy or I never would have booked here in the first place. Also, even though they refunded me the remaining balance they never fully canceled the reservation on their end. It said "Pending Cancellation" for months under My Trips on my account. I called about this several times and got very rude responses indicating it was my problem and not theirs. I couldn't book another place for the same weekend because it showed that I was already booked someplace else so it was quite frustrating. I called VRBO and they said the error was definitely on the renter's end. It looks like a nice place but I would never rent this house because of all the hassle and expense if you need to cancel.

Loved our stay in the Giraffe House. We were super happy with how clean the house was. The welcome snacks & bottle of wine was a nice touch and much appreciated. Great location, very close to the Silos. Like some other guests have mentioned, there are some minor chips in bathroom tile and a few nail holes where it looks like a decorative item was missing. Other than a few fixer upper handyman items that needs to be done, the house was wonderful and we enjoyed our stay.

Was expecting property to be a better Neighborhood, we actually left early for this reason. Master is up stairs with very steep staircase.

Close to everything. Enjoyed our stay. Would definitely stay here again.

We loved our stay at the Giraffe House! Very Cute and clean. Beds were comfy, linens were quality and all the little extras (coffee, paper towels, laundry and dish soap etc were supplied). We did a lot of things and felt the location was perfect! 2-3 miles from everywhere we wanted to go (Magnolia, Baylor, Downtown, Parks) Only issue we had was with the TV - we are not smart TV savvy so we had to watch the HGTV Giraffe House episode on our laptop! (Bring a Roku if you have one). Wi-Fi was good and AC worked perfect we were always happy to come back to a nice cool home! The neighborhood is trending up so some houses are not as nice as the one we stayed in but we walked the neighborhood and felt perfectly safe. Not a lot of people outside, it was an extremely hot week Which may have kept people indoors, we saw more cats than people on our walk! We would definitely stay here again, we recommended the house to some other tourists we met while in Waco!

The property is wonderful! The property manager was very helpful to begin with. I messaged about when we would receive specific entry information and was told that the information would be emailed to me at 1PM. At 1:30, we still hadn’t received an email. I messaged the manager via VRBO and got no response. At our check-in time of 3:00, still no email. I messaged again and got a response rather quickly, but was disappointed that there were no apologies made concerning their failure to send an email and their delay in responding to my message. Please don’t misunderstand. The property is very nice and we thoroughly enjoyed our stay. It’s just frustrating for anxious travelers who like to stay ahead of the game and have their ducks in a row.

This house was the perfect place for our mother daughter trip to Waco. My 12-year old claimed the “office” and loved have her own space when we were at the house. Great central location and everything was maintained very well.

awesome stay (: wished there was a shower downstairs and maybe a full length mirror but other than that it was good!

We had an amazing time at the giraffe house. I have stayed at many rentals through the years and this was by far the most stocked and well equipped. Location is minutes for all the main reasons to come to Waco and from groceries, etc.
The house itself is stunning! We wish we would have had more time to stay.
I cannot recommend this rental and hosts enough!
Thank you for an amazing stay!

Everything was great. The management team answered quickly and were very accommodating . The only thing is the 4th bedroom isn’t really a bedroom more an office and it’s needs a full length mirror. It was a great house and we had such a good time.

We really enjoyed staying at this property. It was a family girls weekend, and all four of us could spread out with the 4 adult beds and 2 lovely bathrooms. We also really enjoyed making meals in the kitchen and hanging out in the living room.

We had a great time at this house. We were there visiting family just 45 minutes away and also to have the Waco experience at the silos! This house is honestly a short distance from everything. We were 2 miles away from downtown and minutes for movies, food, shopping. The house was beautiful and had everything we needed. Thanks for a wonderful stay!!

This was such a perfect spot for a girls’ trip to Waco. We loved watching the episode of fixer upper and then seeing it in person! The decor had changed, but all the architecture Chip and Jo put in was the same. The bedrooms were large, the beds were comfortable and the kitchen was stocked with what we needed. The only suggestion would be to provide more/larger seating in the living room. We had 7, and there was a small couch and two small chairs. A large sectional would have gone a long way! Otherwise, lovely.

This was an excellent experience to come to Waco for Baylor Parents Weekend and stay in this lovely home. Perfect location and exceptionally comfortable. We enjoyed the entire experience from start to finish. Staying in a "Fixer Upper" is just amazing!

We enjoyed our time at the Giraffe House, the home was very clean and comfortable. While the general area of the home is not as nice as the house, there are other homes in the area being updated too. We would stay here again!
