The property is old but functional.
The living room couches had a smell. the LR needs a deep cleaning.
Parking space is cumbersome for a compact SUV, let alone a large vehicle. Not much street parking near by.
The deadbolt is defective and sometimes took a full minute to get it to turn.
The neighborhood is not the best.
Price is high for what it is and where it is.

Very clean and comfortable.

The property was clean and welcoming. The house opposite the rental makes a person feel you are in a bad neighborhood.

Good location 5 miles from Monterey. House was clean and well-equipped. Good value. The reason I gave it 4 stars instead of 5 was that there was a lot of back-and-forth to try to change dates (which I requested prior to the free cancellation date); that part was frustrating and time-consuming.

We were six adult family members who stayed over a rainy several days between Christmas and New Year's Eve. The home was nicely decorated for the holidays, and we had most everything we needed. We did bring some extra folding chairs for the living room, so we didn't have to move dining chairs every day. Parking can be a bit tricky, but we used the driveway for the smaller of our two cars, and were lucky in finding parking in front of the home for the other nearly every day/evening. The beds are a bit on the soft side, but we all slept well after days of hiking and whale watching. It's only about 15 minutes to Monterey's tourist attractions by car, so the location was well situated for us. Be sure to check messages for the door code just before checking in, as the code we originally received thru the website earlier was not the correct one. We also were sure to double check through messages about leaving the key in the lockbox upon departure as the original instructions indicated leaving it on the kitchen table.

Visited Monterey Peninsula to scatter my parents ashes in the locale where they met. This home was quiet, well appointed and easy for such an activity. It was easy to find, easy to navigate around town and within minutes of all the attractions. Previous reviews discussed location and neighborhood but I was completely comfortable. I did struggle to use the Roku as I am not so tech savvy and instructions would help but otherwise, thrilled with my experience. Great views of the harbor and bay.

Overall, the house was very clean and well stocked, beds were comfortable and met our needs. The advertisement indicated there was an air mattress available, but it was only a twin size and had a leak, so was unusable.
The neigborhood and parking situation was not the best, but we didn't have any issues and made it work. Location was good based on our itinerary - close to everything in the Monteray Bay area.

We locked the door and left key on kitchen table. Wanted to make sure everything is okay with check out?

This place was very clean, well priced, and we had easy communication with the homeowner. The location was perfect for going to Cannery Row and Carmel. The pictures online do not do the interior justice. The home is much more roomy than we were expecting from the pictures. It was very clean and well equipped. The only negative which is out of the owners control is the street is a bit sketchy. Seaside is just like that however, like many older beach towns. That being said we had no issues. The neighbors were quiet. The driveway is STEEP and SHORT. We have a mid sized SUV and we just fit at a 40 degree angle. We will be happy to stay here again.

As soon as we arrived the neighbor was out telling us how to park and to look out for the busy street traffic, which was strange but possibly well intended. The street was narrow and busy, neighborhood looked run down, but the house itself was well equipped. Coffee maker didn't work but owner was quick to replace, very responsive when wifi password didn't work. Most importantly, beds and pillows were clean and comfortable. The driveway wasn't ideal for parking, difficult angle, but we made it work.
The house was advertised as pet friendly, which was important for us, but the back yard was entirely concrete with a little bit of gravel, if you arrive with a pet, you may want to walk down to the park for potty break.
TV in main area is not a smart TV- limited channels, which wasn't a big deal for us because we wanted to be out exploring the whole time. But had we known, we would have brought our firestick. Masterbedroom had a Roku with the TV.
We found an amazing Mexican restaurant down the road called La Tortuga!! Super good food and amazing staff.
Smelled like a smoker had lived there, which would have been a big deal for my allergic daughter but they had air purifiers so my daughter did okay.
Overall, the location wasn't what we had hoped but the house slept our family of 6 comfortably, so we feel okay about our stay.

The house was great for our 3 week stay in Monterey. We were there for we were doing in the area. The neighborhood is a blue collar working class neighborhood with a mix of houses. Parking is a real issue. We were in 1 vehicle but at night cars line the curb out front. One day we actually had to knock on a few neighbors door because someone had parked there car in front of the driveway and we could get in.
. The washing machine died while were there and they sent someone the next day and installed a brand new one. They also offered to come clean the house and restock with fresh clean towels halfway through our stay since we were there for 3 weeks. The house was clean and the owners went out of their way to try to make our stay a good one.

Would stay there again.

The only downgrade I would give is that I was there to celebrate my birthday and the oven didn't work. When I called I did not get a call back. I wouldn't even mention this if someone had gotten back to me. Communication needs to be improved. Other than that the house was clean and the location was convenient. It was affordable and I would totally stay there again if the communication was better when I had a legitimate reason to contact the owner.

Cozy well decorated and well stocked home. Close to everything, aquarium, Carmel, etc.
