Home is very old fashioned, but modern at the same time. Good location. Didnt have any issues

It was a great vacation with family. Big enough for all of us. The trek to the beach was a little rough

Was clean and all the things we needed for our vacation

The location makes this property. Quick 5 minute walk to beach, or restaurants. Furniture could definitely be upgraded, but it was serviceable. Bathrooms could be a bit cleaner/nicer, but they worked. My biggest complaint is that what appeared to be a rooftop deck wasn’t accessible. I think that should be explicitly stated in the listing.

Everything was really nice and clean, though we kept having issues with the AC. I would changed it to ON since the house was really hot, but i would find it after 2 hours, being off and the temp i set it to was higher than what i had set (69 ac).

Great place to stay with our dog. 5 min walk to the beach. The beach wasn’t crowded at all. 5 min walk to breakfast, lunch, dinner, and ice cream all next to each other. Beach chairs and umbrella in shed. Would stay there again.

Nice home quiet neighborhood. Little to no traffic on street. Older home. Like the fact that you don’t have all the steps to go up and down. Would stay here again

Excellent April vacation. Very quiet, safe, and just a few steps to the beach. Highly recommend. Lots of space inside for 2 families. The bedroom wings, both with full baths makes privacy easy.

The beach is a very short walk away. The neighborhood was quiet and safe. People were friendly. My daughter and I had a really great vacation staying there. It was so relaxing and close to great fish markets, coffee houses, and grocery stores. The house is designed so that you can easily have 2 families with privacy for each because there are two sleeping wings that are far enough apart so that you can’t hear or see anything across the house. Great big kitchen that was well stocked with cooking utensils, pots, pans, storage containers, a blender, dishwasher, laundry out back, air fryer, good sharp knives, and lots of cups and glasses. Living room was very comfy. We felt very relaxed and safe. Very chill vibe to heal from life in a big city. Well worth the drive from NYC. Only 7.5 hours. Zero traffic coming home on a Saturday in early April. Same amount of driving as places in VT, NH, or Maine. Definitely recommend!

House was very clean!
All needed cooking supplies in kitchen, sheets, towels, etc!
Perfect for friends and family that are there to relax, cook good food, spend time at the beach and have their pups with them.
No extra frills, which was perfect for us!!
We will definitely be back :)

The house itself and location was wonderful and it was very clean. Just a couple small problems when we arrived the oven didn't work and it never got fixed while we were there and two of the rooms had TVs, but didn't work so if u aren't going to have cable or a way for your guests to watch TV in the bedrooms then maybe there shouldn't be TV's in there. All in all it wasn't a bad place to stay

Great place to stay! Very clean when we arrived, friendly neighbors, & easy walk to the beach! Animal friendly as well. Would highly reccommend! :)

We loved how close it was to everything

The place wasn't bad. The beds were comfy, the water was hot, and the kitchen was well stocked. There were a few things listed that didn't work, like the dryer, and there was no Roku stick in the living room. There was a good supply of family-friendly DVDs. The walk to the beach was super easy and close, and there were tons of beach supplies available (toys, chairs, umbrella, clam shovel). Considering what we paid for it, it was decent and I'd go there again.
Just in case anyone staying there lost an iPad recently (we were there 6/3-6/9), we found one and left it for the clean up crew with a note!

I spent last 2 months with vrbo in the village of nags head and it was great...Avon cottage was not so good.

3 old men went fishing and had the storm that produced rough seas and not good fishing. We did enjoy the house and the location. We will see you next year!

It was a nice location., short drive to Avon pier. Very comfortable and homey like. Would like to have control of temperature myself because it was a little chilly in the house with A/C on. Called and they adjusted it.. I am a cold natured person😊. All on all a nice place to stay.

First the bad --- the company that manages the place is an Oregon company, and any issues must go through them first, so I had a few --- what turned out to be --- minor issues which went unresolved because of the difficulties in communication. There were numerous long waits, and transfers from one person to the next, when the issues in question could have been resolved within a few minutes with a local contact familiar with the property.
To be fair, the company did make good on the inconveniences by waiving a few fees and some other perks, so they acknowledged some issues and tried to make things right. Those issues did get resolved eventually.
As for the property itself ---- HIGHEST POSSIBLE RATING! Old school, quaint, cozy, but oh man! Perfect location! They have lots of DVDs for the children, lots of books for the adults, board games and a lot of room including a back yard. Two or three small families would be fine here.
I had a friend stop by for the afternoon, with her two 4 year-olds and they wanted to stay at the house all afternoon instead of go to the beach!
But Location --- the beach is a 5-minute walk. This place is virtually ocean-front without the view. 5 Miles north is a beach which I walked on in the evenings --- not a soul in sight in either direction for over an hour. Food Lion, the only one on the Outer Banks, is 2 and a half miles. Lots of good restaurants within a bike ride or 5 minute car ride. A fresh seafood market, again, right down the road. Numerous off-road beaches within a few miles, including sound side beaches.
I travel a lot and stay in comfortable vacation-style settings, and I have to say this place may be the best I have stayed at. Not the lap of luxury, not the most contemporary, not for people who want to be pampered --- just the best.
After I packed up, I remained at the house till the last possible moment, soaking up the comfort and peace of the environment. I nearly got emotional leaving, and when I returned home, I wanted to be back again.
I look forward to returning for a longer stay.
The "Beach Box" is pure heaven, a gem of a place in the perfect location for the definitive Outer Banks location.

Close to beach walk, safe area just off Hwy 12 which can be hectic. Yard for a dog near to shops, restaurants & food store.

Only problem we had is the thermostat for the a/c is controlled remotely by someone else. 74 on the stat was really 79 in the living room. We had to call a few times to have it adjusted only to have it revert back at night. I would recommend setting a few setpoints so people can relax.
