Convenient location to Sheffield city hall

The hotel itself wasn’t the worse, however the rooms we so outdated, the service was terrible and it also wasn’t the cleanest.
I won’t be staying here again & wouldn’t recommend.
The toilet didn’t flush properly, the sink only drained slowly, the room was dusty and had a terrible smell and the thermostat wasn’t working so it was very warm in the room.
I travel quite a lot and this wasn’t a good experience.

Somewhat understaffed but otherwise a good stay. There were a number of parties taking place and during breakfast there seemed to be 1 staff member rushing around to accommodate everyone in an overfilled restaurant. We had to take our breakfast into the bar! I was so impressed by that staff membets politeness and pace given the chaos, that I asked for her name, Aaliyah should someone at the hotel want to thank her for her amazing work!

Room was cold and heating didn't work. Toilet wouldn't flush.

Checked in and went to room and the bedside stands and table surfaces had not been cleaned and were all drinks spills on them so the surfaces weren't cleaned at all. I called reception and the man said when did you check in as if it was our fault. Told him just now and he told us to come back down to reception. When I did so he said I suppose I’ll have to change your room and seemed really put out. As we had a signed for our daughter he said that would have to be made up. I said when would that be as we were really tired and he said I don’t know when that would be. Again I said that it would be nice to know when and he huffed and puffed and said when someone could cover reception. He then arrived at room 10 minutes later to make it in total silence. I asked if I could have another quilt as they were very thin. He returned with one without cover on and gave us it to do and left again for in silence. been to a lot of hotels and I would say the attitude of this fella to customer just asking for a clean room which is just a basic requirement was rank. I would never stay at this hotel or any chain of it ever again. Rooms generally not of a standard you would expect. Carpets filthy and room very tired. Breakfast was good though. Glad we were only there one night. Would not recommend

It was excellent city centre location, good facilities, very comfortable room, great breakfast.

very good location for the main train station and for the city centre too.

It's a good hotel. But they really need to do something about the noise level in the pool area, we were just 8 people in there but couldn't stay long because of how all sounds were amplified. We had to keep asking them for things at breakfast because no one appeared to be in charge of refilling the bread, cheese, etc. And the door to the room was completely without dampening so it slammed shut really really hard and fast. It's just a matter of time before a kid gets hit by it.

Check in was quite disappointing with quite an unfriendly host. Also even though staff were on the desk nobody greeted me in the morning or upon check out.
For the cost of the room I’d have expected more as well as the room was just very average for what I paid.

Nice hotel convenient for city centre. Located near enough the main city hubs for shopping and dining. Easy parking on site or nearby at reasonable rates.

Hotel is close to the city centre, and is relatively affordable. Room is realky quiet and bed confortable.
The personnel is not welcoming or polite: the reception seemed to be more busy with their own tasks than customers. In the breakfast room the personnel on weekdays nice, but during weekend seemingly on bad mood.

Lovely & clean & great location for Dining & Shopping. Transport links are good on buses & tram. Hotel reception & restaurant nice & spacious, although kept waiting 30 mins as everyone checking in at same time. Comfy Bed & clean room. Pool too small & only allows 8 in at once. Tiny changing room.

I honestly have no idea how this is a 4 star hotel. The reception area is nice but the rooms are extremely tired and old fashioned.
Check in staff were friendly but the staff on check out were rude and unfriendly.

We wanted a city centre hotel to meet family and this ticked the boxes. Always a friendly place and any issues are dealt with quickly.
The swimming pool is a bonus for a quick relax.

The hotel does not have air conditioning and it has poor air circulation. We had a fan in the room which was not enough to cool the room. We requested an additional fan, unfortunately they didn’t have extra fans.

We had a nice stay. The room was good, fairly spacious and clean. Bed comfy. Room decor a bit tired and the separate toilet to bathroom was not great but ok. Bar area was good, food and drink affordable.
The only let down really was the chap on reception when we arrived was totally minimal and seemed like he couldn't be bothered. He was not outright rude and he answered our questions but he offered no welcome or information. We had to ask him to tell us how to get to the room, he was not at all forthcoming just handed us the card key and seemed to expected us to know where to go. It would have been nice after paying £30 for parking if he had told us how to access the car park to go out giving us the codes etc, saving an extra trip to reception. Some information about how to access the pool and gym would have saved us looking like idiots trying to get in with our room key card. Never had a welcome or 'non welcome ' like it before, not even in really budget hotels.

The good thing that I stayed for one night. The room was quite clean, but no vanity kit or toiletry kit. There were shampoo and shower gel in the bathtub and a liquid soap on the sink. Also, there were no slippers. Usually, hotels provide free bottles of water per stay, but there was none. Literally the room was empty. The toilet does not flush water properly and it stopped flushing in the morning. For what I paid, it was not what I expected. It is not even close to four stars.

My partner and I booked a suite at the Novotel for 2 days as we were visiting Sheffield to watch the World Snooker Semi Finals. The hotel could hardly be better situated for the snooker as it is a 5 minute walk from the Crucible Theatre, right next door to the Winter Gardens.
The hotel suite was spacious, clean and very comfortable. The staff were really helpful. We had a slight problem with the coffee machine in the room but a hotel manager sorted that out for us within minutes of our mentioning it. The breakfast buffet was delicious with a wide range of choices. The hotel has its own indoor car park at a charge of £15 per day at the time of writing.
All in all we had a really enjoyable stay. We're planning to go back to the Novotel for a bit longer next year.

I don’t have anything good to say about this hotel stay unfortunately. I had got back into my hotel room at around midnight and decided to call it a day. I would say I was just starting to get off to sleep when I hear the door to my hotel room open and a man came in supposedly thinking this was his room. I was startled. A huge error from the hotel which led me to not sleep for the remainder of the night of fears something like that would happen again. This was to apparently be followed up but I haven’t heard anything from the hotel themselves. What apparently happened was I was not properly checked in by the hotel staff when I arrived at around 3pm. My room was then supposedly vacant and so another man took it and was able to get in while I was asleep. Very, very disturbing. I wouldn’t recommend this hotel to anyone and I have yet to hear from any staff member that sympathised with me for the trauma that I endeavoured.

The hotel was in a great location in the center and we were able to park easily. The roll was amazing with comfy beds. Even though it was a central location, the room was very quiet and we had a good nights sleep. Breakfast was good and service was great. It was my husbands 4th and they accommodated for this really well.

Hotel is a bit scruffy and in need of refurbishment.

I had received traffic offence penalty for entering bus lane outside your hotel, on exiting your hotel car park: You should setup a big readable warning notice to traveller/customers of your carpark (at the gate exit) to warn traveller/customers not to do a left turn (a turn of no return but to enter bus lane- no choic at that point- hence caught on camera by traffic monitor system of Sheffield City council). Only a right turn should be done. This peculiar road is just outside your hotel but you take no precaution to warn traveler from overseas or unfamiliar and new to this area of Sheffield. Honestly ou should pay for my 2 traffic penalty fines for being negligence.

Room was old, carpet was filthy, skink tap not fixed into the wall, buttons on shower mixer missing, fold out bed extremely uncomfortable. The coffee machine was grubby, looked like it had never been cleaned. The swimming pool area needed updating, the changing rooms filthy and old with some lockers missing lock. The kids play area next to the bar was locked. Some of the staff very kind and cheerful made us feel extremely welcome. But ultimately we won’t be staying here again, and to me honest we stayed in a Novatel in Leeds and that was very dated too, it has joined the no go list along with Premier Inn and Travelodge.

This hotel was terrible in every way. Upon checking in my friend and I were told that the room we booked was only suitable for an adult and a child. When booking the reservation this was not said but at check in they said the maximum age of someone who can stay in the pull out couch was 12 years old. I checked off 2 adults on the reservation so surely they should’ve said something about this?
Once getting into the room just to see what the situation was, the pullout couch mattress was stained and the mattress cover was dirty. Not too mention there weren’t even any sheets we could use if we had wanted to sleep on it. As said above the bed was very small even for me so this wasn’t going to work.
Before leaving to find another hotel, my friend decided to use the shower and found hair inside of the bathtub (see photo).
After all of this I reached out to hotels.com and notified them of this experience to which they said they’d reach out to the hotel. To no avail, Novotel said there was no way they were going to issue any refund, partial or full after this.
Overall, I wouldn’t recommend anyone stay at a Novotel property at all costs. I am out $750 for a hotel I didn’t spend more than 30 minutes in even though Novotel could’ve booked it for the following night and issued a partial refund. Stay away from Novotel hotels.
