Super nice place to stay on a business trip. Location was excellent + Whiskey bar attached was a nice touch.

It was great. Only hiccup was out coffee maker was defective and we didn’t get any credit for not being able to have coffee in our room for 2 mornings.

Michael at the valet as well as the entire staff..names I didn't obtain, were great. Great place to stay

We stayed for three nights, the first night there was a loud party in the courtyard till 10:30 PM which made it hard for us to sleep with the baby. The rooms were a little crampy, but the service was overall good. The best part of the day was the gaslamp district and close proximity to restaurant and shopping and the convention center.

Beautiful old renovated downtown hotel!

Seems very hit-or-miss.
My 1st room was street level and you could hear every person walking by on the sidewalk. Unacceptable and I quickly switched out.
My 2nd room was drafty, had a broken heater fan that woke me up in the middle of the night, and terrible pillows.
My 3rd room was fantastic.

Overall the place was great. Good location, clean and beautiful. The only thing I did not like was that I could hear all the outside noise. Friday and Saturday nights were the worst with people partying outside. I was not able to sleep well those two nights. If you are a heavy sleeper, this place may be perfect.

The service at the Horton Grand is so consistently excellent that i want to clone their management, training, and hiring practices for every business.
The staff working there are kind, knowledgeable, and helpful in that way that makes you feel like their favorite guest ever.

Fantastic stay. Very cozy. Fun antique architecture. Impressive.

My stay is always great when we stay at the Horton . This time they double booked a room and strangers walked in my room in the middle of the night.
Me and my wife were scared and mad.

The Horton Grand is a very nice place to stay. It is about a 10-min walk to the Convention Center. There are many restaurants nearby. My room was large and comfortable, The hotel lobby space is very nice.

My second stay with The Horton Grand. We were in town for a birthday and they helped me make it a memorable stay for the birthday girl. Accommodating for early checkin when called in advance. It is an older but still beautiful hotel rooms are a little dated but that goes along with the rest of the place which we liked. Enjoyed that we had a balcony to enjoy the lovely San Diego night air. Room did have a I’d say musty smell to it when we got in aired it out and was good to go for the evening.

Cool hotel in the gaslamp district.
Bar was nice, loads of bar fly's though.
When I arrived there was no power (for the whole near by 7 blocks) front of house were great, helpful and we're very professional and friendly despite the obvious pressure of having no electricity.

Charming and unique atmosphere. Loved the bell service as soon as I exited my Uber. Was given two drink tickets when I arrived, which was a nice surprise and it encouraged me to dine in their restaurant/bar. I don’t think I’ve ever had Better salmon in my life. Absolutely delicious

The hotel was really neat. The service and people were great. The towels were rough and the ironing board was a small one that went on the desk. Those weee my only two issues but I enjoyed it and thought it was a good hotel for a great price. It was a great place to get out and walk. Most everything was within 10-15 min of a walk.

Well it must be about sleep and comfort. Great hotel it needs to upgrade their mattresses. Changed rooms to second one not must better. A poor night sleep will ruin any stay.
Great facility just replace your mattresses. I have stayed there at least 6 or 7 times.

This is my second time here and love coming back. Room is cozy and classy, and great food at the bar. I will go back again should my travels take me there.

So the hotel is boutique-y, nostalgic and very Instagramable. I was a little taken aback that it was “haunted”. I missed that on the website. It messed with my psyche and so every bump and thump had me on edge. That’s the only reason why I gave it a 4 star instead of a 5. Once I saw the haunted tour offset of the lobby it put all of the antique furniture in perspective. Very close to everything. Parking is ridiculously priced - another reason for the star deduction. Other than that, great stay!

I always stay at The Horton.
It’s the best location in Gaslamp district.
You can walk to great restaurants.
The service is great and beds are comfortable.

Great location to walk to all the nightlife of the Gaslamp district. So many restaurants around within walking distance & even a grocery store. Petco stadiums are also within walking distance.
We paid extra for a room with a small balcony. I would bother with it since it faces into a small courtyard. And when people are in the courtyard it echoes up.

We really enjoyed our weekend stay. It was very convenient to walk to Petco Park for the concert we attended. There are multiple great restaurants within walking distance. Staff was great and friendly. The drinks at Salt and Whiskey were fantastic. Would definitely stay again.

Loved the room and location of the room. Wasn’t happy that it was hard to get hot water in the shower, and when it did, it didn’t last long. Other than that, it was great. Would stay there again. It’s located within walking distance of everything.

Loved the antiquity of the hotel. Very pretty. Room lovely, bed amazing. Sweet little balcony overlooking the internal courtyard.
Disappointed that they didn’t offer coffee in the foyer in the morning. Room coffee is always iffy, and going out to find a decent cup at 7am seemed unnecessary and frankly cheapened the otherwise lovely hotel.
Area safe and decent eating about 2-3 blocks away. Area directly around the hotel a little run down but safe. Great eating about 5 minutes walk from the hotel, and hop on hop off trolley literally right around the corner.
We had a great time

I wasn't expecting such a beautiful well kept place. This hotel is worth every minute of your stay. Use the valet service! It's great to utilize this service. Your car is safely stored in their garage nearby and easy to retrieve. It is a great service.
Every employee is kind and helpful. The building is full of cool history and in "museum" condition. When I return I will be staying here for sure. Close to all aminities in the area and a walk to the bay is close by. The Gaslamp Quarter reminds me of New Orleans, lots of diversity.
Thank you for making our stay here exceptional.

Great place and great location!!

This old hotel is awesome. Central to gas lamp and walking distance to rail, ferry service and the ballpark. The staff was awesome and the foood/drinks were great. My only petty complaint is the pillows and noise passed through the halls easily. Old hotels are that way, so it’s to be expected.
4.0 / 10.0
The hotel was very nice and given it's age, kept up very well. Staff at check-in was excellent and smooth as well. Only minor downsides would be some of the maintenance staff with their exceptionally noisy carts through-out the hallways and the back of service alley which echoed up into our room with the windows closed (woke us a couple of times), and the parking is a little pricey and limited to Valet only.

I am never staying here again. The front desk had an attitude and was not helpful. Valet was not available so we had to park our car outside until the morning. The security guard was getting beat up by a homeless man and ran inside the main entrance where the homeless man proceeded to throw the bell cart inside. Also the fire place did not work but the room smelled like gas. When we checked out the front desk lady looked sick and unhappy she didn’t even ask how our stay way or say good morning. This property was supposed to be a VIP property but there was no special accommodations or upgrades.

Great location and staff! The room was quiet. The vintage decor is charming. The only downside was the hotel was a little worn but still a great place to stay

The restaurant advertised that they served breakfast, but they don't.
