We have stayed here before, so I already kind of knew what to expect. You don’t get all the bills and whistles that you would with a large chain company But it’s a nice clean home like feeling. No early check-in options so make sure that you’re aware of the time. Most rooms have a fireplace and a balcony and a pretty nice view. Would definitely stay here again.

Glorified motel with a superior breakfast.
Overpriced for caliber of room.
Paid upper tier, given lower tier.

This business is in a nice location. The room was large and the bed was comfortable, but we were disappointed to find long blonde hairs from a previous guest in both the shower and under the pillows. There was an ice machine nearby, but we were only supplied with plastic and paper cups for a hot or cold drink. We headed to the local thrift (charity)store and purchased some glassware which we donated back when we were leaving. There was a heated pool and spa which even had access for people with disabilities but my partner didn't pack swimwear. We felt the accommodation was not up to the standard for the price we paid.

It was a great experience

The front desk staff was rude, but otherwise it was seamless and easy to check in.

They said we could call and see if we can check-in early, then they said to show up at 230p. No one was at the check in desk for 40 min. We decided to leave and check in late.

The only redeeming quality was the location and proximity to the beach. There must be a big difference between the cottages and rundown lodge, because some of the positive reviews and photos on the site are not what we experienced. The room was on the “first” floor which really felt like it it was underground because of having to go down a set of stairs to access the room. It was dark and in desperate need of some TLC. Walls were scuffed and dirty, and there were some dead bugs on the walls. The fitted sheets didn’t stay on the mattresses and other bedding was just okay. The room backed up to a cemetery. And the breakfast they advertise was a paper bag with cheap muffins, a granola bar, a piece of fruit and bottle of juice. Honestly, we felt duped from what is represented on the site. Maybe the cottages are nicer but overall would not recommend and would not stay here again.

The inn is in an excellent location; however, the room was not to past standards. The bathroom was dark, the shower was chipped, the overall room feel was dark and slightly unkept.

The stay was & ok but the place can use some TLC upgrades & a ceiling fan..the room was warm so we purchased a small fan & it helped us sleep better..

Nice room and location but the room needs some work. Walls need painting, funky caulking repair on the shower curb. It needs some maintenance.

The stay was horrible it does not say when booking that you will be staying right next to a cemetery with nothing blocking it. Costumer service was not too good person at the front desk was rude

We thought the place was nice. We stayed on the cottage side and had a king bed and the room had all we needed. TV worked, water got hot, fairly quiet weekend, convenient to Golf course and nice short walk to Asilomar State Beach. Had really nice fire pits and seating. The hot breakfast included in our room price was decent. We love that we could bring our 60lb. Pit mix and they are pet friendly. Short drive to Carmel and Monterey. We would stay again for sure.

Did not realize it was a few feet from a cemetery

This place was awful. Maybe the bigger cottage rooms are good to stay in but their smaller rooms near the entrance were so bad we left after about two hours. There’s no privacy for those rooms. Extremely dirty with broken parts of the wall. No screens on the windows we had until they removed a screen from a different room they wouldn’t let us move into instead. Disgusting smell in the room, probably due to how dirty it is. The bed had zero support and made the cartoonish noisy spring noise whenever you moved on it.
When we tried to cancel and get our money back, the manager refused to give it to us and he lied to Hotels.com about how long we were in the room as part of his refusal. Thankfully Hotels.com took care of us despite the manager’s inappropriate display of customer service.
Again you might have better luck with cottage rooms. Maybe they’re inhabitable for more than two hours. The staff was very nice despite how unacceptable the room was. It’s just the manager lied to try to save his money. I would not have left a bad and honest review like this if he hadn’t lied.

First time here. Staff was helpful, friendly and very accommodating. Our room faced a cemetery but it was actually beautiful to wake up and go to sleep to beautiful deer right out our patio door. Pool was very warm too :)

Including breakfast was misleading as we only got breakfast bags with apple juice, cereal bar, muffin and an apple. They had the option to get a real breakfast but it costed an extra 15$ per person and day. Overall it was a nice stay though and Pacific Grove is really pretty.

Cannot confirm the negative reviews on google. We had a very nice and clean room. It also has a fire place, which was nice as well.

This property was very old, dated, dirty, black mold in bath, dark, dingy, Only one window facing out to a graveyard !! I would not stay at this property if you gave it to me free !!!! Absolutely horrible !!

Check in was a little shaky but after that was great

Centered between Carmel. Asilomar, Monterey, and Pacific Grove. Great location! Breakfast served at the lodge or bag breakfast and coffee on the go. Pool and hot tub were nice to have. Friendly staff. An amazing golf course right down the street.

We stayed in a queen room (not cottages, just standard). We enjoyed the area this hotel was in. It was very quaint and not in a busy zone. However, the room was a lot smaller than it was portrayed on the website, and there was no breakfast served except for a “go bag” breakfast (that we had to initial that we were ok with upon check-in). The pillows were very tiny, would have preferred something at least standard size. Be warned, no air conditioning or fan in the room. Highly advise against staying here during the summer months. We were lucky it was cool at night. No screen on bathroom or front window. Reverse plumbing, but they tell you upon check in. For what the rooms are going for at peak, probably not worth it. During off-season (cheaper months), maybe.

Staff was a bit rude and when asked for more utilities such as towels would never receive them.

Reservations were not as the website described. The pictures on the website did not match what the room looked like in person. The hotel (cottage) smelled bad. The bedding, curtains and carpet looked old. The lighting in the room was also dark. It looked creepy and scary. The outdoor premises were not well kept and dirty. The pool area was not inviting either. It was lonely. The room next to us had a dog that would not stop barking. All of the above would not make our stay pleasant and had to check out right away. The website also stated that continental breakfast is included but front desk clerk directed us to the nearest restaurant due to continental breakfast not served at site. False advertisement. The hotel had pre-made brown sack lunch bags with your continental breakfast snack. Who knows what was in there. Definitely not recommended. Oh and we also found out after checking out that the hotel is right next to a cemetery. The room definitely matched the ambience of a cementary at night. If you are looking for a halloween kind of night then this is the right place foryou. But if you are looking to be refreshed on your vacation then please dont walk, run from this place. Totally false advertisement and a waste of your money. So sad because the reservation was not cheap. Hotel.com should be more careful what hotels are posted on their website. Total disappointment.

Pool and jaccuzzi could be a bit cleaner.

The room didnt have air conditioning and was located on a noisy street. The window coverings were all stained and there was a funky smell in the room. It appears the bathrooms were recently remodeled, but they reversed the hot/cold water and its never been fixed. They also have a make-shift water barrier at the shower door, but the entire bathroom filled with water during a short shower. I would never stay here again.

Absolutely gorgeous property with a little ocean view. We had our own studio and thought the accommodations were amazing for the price!

The staff are very friendly and helpful and the location is excellent ! The rooms are good sized either a small patio or small balcony. The cooked breakfast is wonderful and a great value. You are a short and scenic walk away form the short Monterey Bay with beautiful views. If you like to golf, it's got to be the nicest municipal course you'll find...right along the water and within site of the Lighthouse Lodge!

A group of us stayed at the Lighthouse Lodge for one night-3 rooms. The room itself was on the smaller side, our unit’s AC did not work, screen missing from slider widow next to front door.:-( No blow dryer in our unit as listed. The neighborhood was so cute! very walkable to downtown and to the beach! Loved Lighthouse Lucy’s next door on Saturday afternoon! Lively atmosphere and a live band…a real treat. May try other Inns in the area next time because we love going out to Pacific Grove…

The location around the corner from the golf course and ocean is great. However, you are directly adjacent to the cemetery. First floor stay is not advised as it backs into the cemetery grounds. The sheets were rough and there was not a single fan circulating air in the room. Screen door was ripped therefore impossible to open the sliding glass door.

Lovely location, upscale, quiet, nestled in nature.

I didn’t realize this property was right behind the cemetary and we could see it from our balcony. Rooms were clean, however the mattress was not comfortable and my back hurt. Pool and spa were really good with pool water being very warm. Continental breakfast consisted on muffin, apple, juice and granola not. So we ended up going to a breakfast place. Nice and quiet area and very walkable.

Location of Lighthouse Cottages was outstanding, within walking distance of beach trails. Room size was good-had a fireplace and nice soaking bathtub. Property grounds need TLC. The patio was not as pictured- it was 2 old chairs looking out on weeds, a broken down fence, and caution tape. A sit-down breakfast was provided. They were seriously understaffed, and the hostess/waitress/server was clearly stressed and snappish. There was no housekeeping to speak of-just told to leave towels and trash outside the cottage. The reception for check-in and check-out was not particularly friendly. One housekeeper we saw was pushing a giant cart with the most ancient looking vacuum. That vacuum should probably have been retired 20 years ago. Overall, it was a shame, because it seemed like Lighthouse Lodge and Cottages was once a lovely place. We left thinking this was a hotel with great potential in desperate need of more staff and new management. We would not recommend to friends.

Not a fan of the view from my room balcony directly to a cemetery.
I requested a different room but none was available.

For the price I expected more compared to other places I stayed this summer. There was no air conditioning and the shower handle did not work correctly. The bed squeaked too.

I loved it. The pool was so warm and the hot tub was relaxing. The rooms are big and have everything you need and a balcony. I highly recommend this lodge!

Everything was really nice and lovely, very calm and a good place to stay. The only thing we didn‘t like was the breakfast, as it was only coffee and a bag filled with an apple, a muffin, some juice and a cereal bar… for the price of the hotel we expected a little bit more selection.

Our room was fine except for the issue with the shower, as water leaked through the shower door when taking a shower.

The room was clean, nice area, short walk to the beach to watch the sun go down.
