We love this hotel, have stayed here x4.
We had a ground floor room which was spacious & clean, very comfortable bed with lovely bedding.
The bathroom and shower had all you needed and the apartment was well equipped.
Fantastic breakfast and fantastic food with happy friendly staff.
We visit family in the area and will choose this hotel each time we come.
Super location!
Super vacation!

Highly recommend.
Thankyou!

Good value for the price. Exceptionally clean.Large spacious room, very comfotable bed.
I requested a ground floor room; I was told it would open onto the car park which is in a secure off-street courtyard, but that was actually very convenient for me. Good breakfast. Centrally located in Newbury.

Lovely stay in Newbury. Room was clean and beds comfortable. Breakfast could be improved

The room was extremely hot and unfortunately with the room window being street side, I was woken up at 4am by delivery trucks.. had very little sleep due to the noisy world outside.
Recommend having a room nowhere near the street

Very nice overnight stay. Good location for walking into town. The room was VERY hot, I opened the window but somehow that did not seem to add to the ventilation so didn't sleep too well. But would I recommend it - yes, would I go back there - yes.

Pretty good overall for the price. It’s an old hotel and some of the plumbing is in need of updating but otherwise it’s ok. Would stay again if I can get a deal through a discount app.

Great location only 5 mins from the racecourse, good breakfast, good value , free car parking , fluffy towels , comfy bed , probably needs a refurb in places ( windows ) traffic noise woke us up quite early but not an issue! Quick check in & out all in all a good stay .

Pleasant stay at this hotel in June 24.
Room was on 2nd floor and had no view.
Room was warm and had a fan for additional ventilation.
Starting to look a little tired in places but overall had no issues and a good nights sleep.

Tracey and her colleague on reception gave us a very warm welcome and went above and beyond to make sure we had a suitable room as I use crutches. ALL the staff that we encountered were friendly and helpful. The room attendants were very helpful and efficient in cleaning our room. We were placed in a room on the edge of the car park, which was clean, comfortable and convenient. You might think it would be noisy, but this wasn’t the case for us. The room contained everything we needed, including an iron and ironing board, flat screen TV and a fan. Tea and coffee making facilities, biscuits and bottled water were also supplied and replenished daily. This was welcome as it was very warm. We ate in the restaurant the first evening and the food was very good. We walked to a nearby Nepalese restaurant the second evening. The hotel is independently owned and situated right in the town centre, which is very convenient. It is suitable for visiting Highclere Castle and our room rate included free secured, Wi-Fi, a smashing breakfast and free parking. We would certainly stay here again and would like to thank all the staff for a lovely stay.

The room was clean and sooo big. The breakfast was very good with more than enough choices of food. The receptionist and the bar staff very extremely helpful. Have stayed on several occasions and have never been disappointed, will be booking in again later in the year.

My second stay at the Chequers..
As last year, the hotel was comfortable and enjoyable.
This time over looking the front, the road went quiet at 11pm, so not so bad..
Breakfast was good as before, very comforatble bed and nice shower.

Nice comfortable hotel on centre of Newbury. Old building but very convenient for local restaurants. Only downside was no lift so not so good if disabled. Great for overnight stay.

Generally a good hotel except that it was a hot day and there was no air conditioning. Staff were friendly and helpful, room and bathroom were clean. Parking bays could be wider. Bed was comfortable.

Really loved this place. Perfect easy location, staff were brilliant. Food fantastic.

Good sized room with comfy bed and large bathroom and quiet. Initial impression of the room was good, but did then notice that it could do with an update. Bottles of water in the room was a nice touch. Negatives were the step up into the bathroom and not having privacy glass in our bathroom, although there was in our daughters room, there was a blind to pull down. But when you can see into the properties across the road from the toilet you feel the need to keep the blind down all the time. Had dinner in the restaurant which felt expensive, along with the cost of drinks, for the quality. Buffet breakfast with an acceptable selection for cooked options but no pastries on offer which would have been nice. Great to have free parking.

Hotel a bit dated but generally clean. Staff all very friendly and helpful. Good value for money and great location.

We had booked the four poster Bridal Suite as the cost could be redeemed with a voucher. The receptionist was very friendly. The decor of the communal areas was a bit dated. The room itself was very large but didn't have the wow factor I was expecting for the Bridal suite. Standard tea and coffee making facilities. Surprised to find no USB charging points. These cost very little to install and everyone uses them these days. Breakfast was included in our room rate, which we were pleased about as we would have not been happy to pay the £8.50 rate for breakfast. It was average at best. We would stay again for the convenience of the town centre but would probably look at other options too.

Excellent position in the town and very friendly and helpful staff.
