The Fairmont orchid is a lovely, family and romantic get away. The staff couldn’t have been more friendly and helpful! I especially liked the intimate feeling of the grounds which were beautiful! I would definitely come back!

Beautiful resort, large rooms, very friendly & helpful staff, in front of the ocean, clean rooms and great amenities. A perfect stay!

Loved this. As good as fairmont maui except less crowds. Beautiful property? Great restaurants, excellent service and better value than Maui.

Thoroughly enjoyed the relaxing atmosphere.

This was a very special property. We’ve stayed at many resorts at many destinations over the years and can honestly say that the Fairmont Orchid is a genuine 5-star property, from the accommodations to the views and overall staff, we were very pleased. Gave it a 4 out of 5 because we felt that dining options were somewhat limited and crazy expensive. We did use the hotel shuttle to go to the local store and loaded up on snacks and sandwiches. You will be happy staying here. :)

Truly enjoyed outside options / ocean access.

The property was gorgeous. The daily resort fee was pretty steep considering the only non-charge amenity was free coffee from 5 AM to 6:30 AM. Our TV never worked. Luckily, we were outside enjoying all Kona has to offer.

Beautiful place! The only advice I have for the resort is to offer a la carte options for breakfast at the restaurant

Beautiful property, but our room was just ok. Needed updating and the bathroom door knob needed to be fixed. The food options at the hotel were also average. But great drinks. We ate most of our meals off property. We’d stay again, but make sure we get an updated room next time.

The staff and property were amazing. My best friend and I went there for my 50th and they really gave us white glove service upgrading our room, champaign, birthday cake, and plenty of the staff all around the property were just so genuinely interested in making it a great experience for us. I so enjoyed that this island is not packed like the others. It is low key. I can't wait to go back!

Beautiful property. Loved the easy beach access. We were able to snorkel and see fishes & turtles. The room itself was nice but needs an update. Staff was friendly and helpful. Will be our go to hotel in the Big Island.

We had a hiccup with our original accommodation, but the Fairmont staff turned what could have been a stressful situation into a magical experience. From the moment we arrived, the team went above and beyond, ensuring every detail of our stay was perfect. Their warmth and friendliness truly made us feel like we were at home.
The hotel itself is stunning, but it was the people who made our visit unforgettable. In fact, we were so taken by the exceptional service and ambiance that we decided to spend most of our time at the hotel, soaking in the beauty and enjoying the luxurious amenities, rather than exploring the island as initially planned.
If you're looking for a place that combines elegance with heartfelt hospitality, the Fairmont on Big Island is the perfect choice. We can't wait to return!

First time in Hawaii and staff wasn’t helpful. Would not be back

The property was heavenly.
They should re-evaluate the cost of snacks ( $9 for half a papaya is just plain silly).

Gorgeous property, but most staff was rude and visibly annoyed with any requests for assistance. Food & drinks in the lobby lounge was average at best. The rooms were clean, comfortable, and very nice. The grounds were beautiful with running streams, waterfalls, and large pool.

I wish there is more vegetarian or vegan options to eat otherwise facilities is good, staff some were really good but some weren't that friendly

The property is currently undergoing maintenance. Rooms are dated and therefore not worth the price we paid. Service overall was not that great except for a handful of very hardworking and pleasant staff. Food was pricey which was true for most hotel restaurants in that region. All of the extra costs (from tennis, beach rentals etc.)around the property quickly add-up. The private beach was nice and the pool was decent. May come back in the future if service improves and the rooms are in better condition. Overall quite disappointed.

It was our first time staying here. We were blown away by the service. They sent us a bottle of champagne for our anniversary. Upon arrival they also sent gifts for our little ones. The spa was amazing too. The service, food, location, room, and property were all excellent. We will definitely come back.

We had a great stay at the Fairmont Orchid. Stayed for week and ate somewhere new each day- lots of dining options on property and within walking distance. A highlight was the staffer Matthew- he popped up everywhere and was so knowledgeable, patient and kind. He was our guide on a canoe trip we took, he guided us on a “turtle talk” walk and he is the one who lights all the tiki torches and blows the conch at sunset. My kids learned a lot from him during the turtle talk and canoe trip- I highly recommend those resort excursions. The beach and lagoon area was awesome and so was the pool. The food was incredible. Great trip overall!

The north tower is really nice.
The south tower not so much.
the food is really good but expensive.
The birds really try to ruin the breakfast.
Be prepared to get some meals from the local grocery to save money.

The protected kid friendly beach is worth the cost of admission. The service, impeccable.

Beautiful and friendly staffs. Has to drive everywhere to get some dinner/Lunch. Food is so expensive. The beach is small and no umbrella access unless you pay for cabana.

Great hotel, clean and friendly staff. We loved that we cold snorkelled directly from the beech.

The property is beautiful. The staff is friendly and helpful in all areas. We were welcomed and greeted by EVERYONE on the property. Everyone was cheerful and willing to go above and beyond. The ONLY thing that we were disappointed with was the cost/quality of our room service dinner. Other than that everything was wonderful.
We had a pleasant surprise as we were given high quality reusable water bottles when we arrived. I saw so many people all over the island carrying them around.

Originally a Ritz Carlton hotel and you can tell by the quality fixtures and decor. Great dining and the sunset views are spectacular. I would definitely stay there again

Beautiful property, courteous staff, amazing sunsets, great reef for snorkeling with abundance of marine life, including sea turtles.
If you go for a walk along the shore early enough in morning you can watch sea turtles resting on the beach.

We had a wonderful stay at the Fairmont Orchid in June. The resort never felt crowded, the grounds were beautiful and peaceful, and the staff was lovely. This was exactly the relaxing vacation we needed - far from the chaos of our typical Waikiki trips

I have been coming here for years, the hotels and everything is the same, except the prices. Get ready to spend lots of $. The hotel is old and outdated, the outdoor amenities and extras are the same as 10 years ago but all the prices have skyrocketed. The hotel was only 60% full (was obvious) and told to me by numerous hotel staff, and upon check in I had to wait for my room. When I checked in at 1pm I was told I needed to wait, which was odd since the hotel was half empty, and so I waited until 330 PM with two elderly parents, I returned and still the rooms were not ready. I asked the person why I needed to wait when guests checking in right next to me were being given rooms immediately, he said your "type of room is not available yet unless you would like to pay for an upgrade" he said, My type of room was $3000 for 5 nights but I didn't pay enough to stop the person from being rude. He then left and his manager came to the counter and gave us a room within a minute? Not sure why the previous person couldn't do that? The beach front cabanas are all over $475 now to get some shade. They went from $100 a few years ago to now $475 for the cheapest one. On the kids beach you can find an old two seat chaise lounge for $150. Dinner is about $100-150 per person so be ready. They also only offer breakfast buffet for $50 per person no more ala carte menu which forces everyone to buy the buffet. overall average and overpriced. Much better hotels in the area to chose from.

Fantastic pool with an adult pool section. Great private beach area with cove where water is calm and beautiful! See some fish life and turtles too! We definitely will be back again.
