Good hotel great friendly service just what we needed

All good.
Its an old hotel with beams, so noneof the walls are flat or straight this adds to the charm and it is decorated well.
They have sufficient friendly staff which is great.
Breakfast very good too.
Would go back.

Room was very nice & comfortable, well appointed in terms of bathroom, cupboards, drawers, etc

The room was far too hot to sleep, even with the radiator shut off. The window could be opened but noise from fans outside made it too noisy to sleep. Other than that the hotel was good. Staff were friendly although unconcerned about the heating problem. Breakfast was good.

Very conveniently sited hotel in centre of town. Parking always seemed available. Hotel is an historic building modernised as far as possible. But no lifts and steps along corridors. Friendly staff. Good breakfast with self serve starters and main meal cooked to order. Good selection of courses at dinner. But wine at £30 plus per bottle is expensive and a deterrent to ordering. Surely something more reasonably priced per bottle could be sourced.

Lovely hotel with character rooms well furnished to a high standard bath room very well stocked with toiletries .Breakfast good choice although service seemed a little rushed ie hot food came before dishes cleared . Could do with light options on evening menu otherwise good.Parking was hard to find as on a one way system and easy to pass rear entrance

Great location, right on the high street, beautiful room and the dining area and bar area were very comfortable and first class. The staff were really polite and very accommodating, especially jordan, who looked after us royally and gave us advice about where to go round and about Welshpool. Would recommend the Royal Oak to anyone!! Can’t think of a single negative.

The stay was perfect. Clean well presented room and the breakfast was very good. I did book for 2 adults and a baby but didn't get offered any bed for my baby or have any towels left for my baby

Great place to stay.

The Royal Oak bedrooms need painting, doors are grubby, carpet dirty in public areas. The chair in the dining room was dirty and needed a clean. The staff were very courteous and offered a great service. Breakfast was good. Would I stay again? No

As seniors we found it a difficult climb to our rooms on the second floor. Apart from that all was good.
5.0 / 10.0
The hotel was good and had the right facilities
Only issue is that the heating is not controlled in the room and the fan provided was noisy so had to open the windows onto the main road to get an airflow
Otherwise the staff were super
The parking is fun to locate but do your research first otherwise its a trek to drive around town to enter the parking via the one way street

This hotel has genuine charm. Tasteful room decor; spacious bedroom, old-style interior; nice touches such as the breakfast tea service. Friendly and helpful staff

A “happy to see you” welcome. Clean well appointed room with welcome message from housekeeping, radio playing soft music, books, game and well stocked tray of teas, coffees and biscuits. Very modern bathroom with range of delightful toiletries. Wonderful helpful staff - would mention particularly Mandy who popped up everywhere and ensured we were happy. Mandy is a huge asset to the hotel. Food delicious with good selection and generous portions.

A lovely old building well refurbished. Obviously as an old building there is no double glazing and not much by way of soundproofing - but this was not really a problem.
Single room was a good size with some nice touches like books and playing cards. Bathroom very modern.
Staff very friendly and helpful. Breakfast was great.

Room very hot and unable to adjust heating. Much too hot for sleeping. Otherwise hotel very good.

Only downside would be the room was too warm but you could open window and a fan was provided so no big deal.

I travel a lot and stay in 3 hotels a week. The room was very comfortable and clean. The evening meal was very nice as was the breakfast. All staff i encountered were very welcoming and friendly and i saw this for other guest interactions too, so i take it this approach is the norm. The reception lady stayed on the phone call till i found the carpark, which was a big help. A very nice stay and will be back again when working in the area, thanks. I dont normally give reviews, but thought i would this time, Ian

Staff were excellent, food (breakfast and evening meal) was superb, good tv and desk to work from, room a little hot during the night and the bed a little lumpy (rm 101) but not enough to warrant me not staying there again.
