Amazing this is our favorite hotel. We have stayed at another 5 star location and much prefer the Imperiale. The facilities and rooms and staff are superior!
10.0
The staff is first class. Everyone is at the same "nice" level. The room was a great size in every sense. Quiet, as well. The amenities were located well and I used the pool, gym, beach, restuarant, the bar (again the bar). As per the food served, the breakfast was filled with very good meats, cheeses, pastries, different omelettes, bread, yogurt, and much more. There is a lot more compliment the Imperiale Palace, so it goes without saying...I will be back!

Property is absolutely beautiful with so much history yet with modern amenities. Pool/beach area was absolutely amazing, great view and attention to detail. I highly recommend this hotel and would go back again

Elegant and easily accessible from nearby city center. Excellent service.

Selfishly, this is a hotel that my wife and I would really prefer to keep to ourselves. But it’s just so brilliant in every way, that the people behind it need to be commended, and thanked, so here I go letting this secret out of the bag.
The pictures online in no way do the hotel justice, but when you experience it in reality, one can understand why no picture can truly capture the essence of Imperiale Palace Hotel. This is a hotel frequented not by the Instagram crowd, but rather a high class yet relaxed mix of Italians and other Europeans. Being able to simply enjoy the hotel and its facilities without being surrounded by people constantly on their phones, looking for that perfectly posed picture, is absolutely energising for one’s soul. While it is impossible to discern one hotel highlight from another, the real stand out was the service and the total professionalism, yet engaging hospitality, of the staff at this hotel. From excellent fine dining cuisine, to probably the most delicious breakfast spread we have experienced across Europe, and then to the private beach at the Mediterranean water’s edge with quite simply the most spectacular view across the Gulf of Tigullio, makes this hotel one which we hope to return to many times in the future.
We are grateful to every staff member who made our stay truly feel like home. From the front-desk welcome we received when checking in, to every touch point across restaurants, bars, pool and beach sides.. we say thank you!

About as good of a stay as you can get in Italy. We would recommend it.
Three things we didn’t love that aren’t deal breakers but worth noting;
- TVs in the room are from 2015 and are laughably small. They also constantly lose cable access
- Pool and Beach drink service is terrible. They come around to the chairs maybe 4x in a whole day, so you have to constantly take trips up to the bar yourself. They also serve everything in cheap plastic cups that cause the drinks to warm up way too quickly
- Pool and Beach chairs are very old and uncomfortable, especially if you’re taller than 5’10. They do have a face shade which is nice for reading through

First time staying at the Hotel and was pleasantly surprised with everything, whilst it is typically Italian in design/furniture it has a lovely terrace..the pool/beach area is lovely with its own bar/restaurant which has great service...the town is a ten minute walk where there are lots of nice restaurants/shops/bars...all the staff are very friendly and attentive..I can't find anything to fault! I would definatley go back

We loved the hotel and the private beach. The restaurant is our favorite and staff is super friendly

Our room had a terrible order due to a baby next door. The smell was so bad we had to keep our door and windows open. We asked for a new room and they could not accommodate us so we asked for a discount because the room did not meet our full-price expectations. It was unbearable at times. They staff refused to even offer a discount. Very unfortunate. The situation was not their fault but it wasn't ours either. Situations happen and they should have taken care of us.

Absolutely beautiful Hotel

We really loved our stay at the hotel. All the staff are so welcoming and kind and go out of their way to make you have the best time. The food at the hotel in our view is the best in the area, with outstanding seafood linguine and seared tuna. The live music on the terrace in the evening created a really romantic atmosphere and created some treasured memories. The private beach also a real advantage, together with the short walking distance to town from the hotel. Un abbraccio to all the staff!

This grand old gem was an amazing hotel with so much character. The linen was amazing, the rooms were large and spacious. The bar was incredible, and the breakfast was amazing. The pool and beach facility were incredible , clean and service was spot on, The only issue was their wifi that keep dropping

Absolutely gorgeous hotel, and a gorgeous location with beautiful landscaping and grounds. Hotel staff was beyond friendly. The room was very nicely decorated. The shower pressure was adjustable from light to very heavy. My wife likes a light shower and I prefer heavy water pressure, so it was a good mixture for the two of us.
Only a few negatives to keep in mind if you are considering staying here. Number one is that the beach, the beach chairs, towels, and pool area all close at 7 PM, even though the sun doesn’t set until well after 9 PM. For the amount of money that you spend to stay in a hotel like this, you would think that they would adjust with the time lines of the summer. Also, you’re only allowed one towel per person. Again, spending nearly $1000 a night should allow you to more than one towel at a time in the pool or beach area.
Get to the breakfast early, because if you come within 30 to 45 minutes of it shutting down, they stop bringing out fresh food or allowing you to order from the omelette bar.
Overall, we absolutely love the hotel. We only wish with the amount of money that they charge that they would be more accommodating to their guests needs

A very high class and stylish hotel... expensive but worth 'pushing the boat out'...very efficient and pleasant, friendly, well trained staff...a sensational position in a stunning place...

Great property, would recommend. Just be mindful the walk from town back to the hotel is up hill and stairs so can be a little challenging in the heat, otherwise perfect accommodation, magnificent hotel, beautiful beach club and garden.

The property has an amazing beach club and pool area. The gardens are expertly manicured and the furnishings are wonderful Liberty style antiques. The view of the sea from the balcony rooms is unbelievable. Loved the property.

We waited a few months to post our rating, as we wanted to reflect on the hotel and our overall positive experience, despite the bad feeling left from a poorly functioning air conditioner during a 5 night July stay.
The Imperiale is the best in Santa Margherita. Location is ideal, literally a 5 minute walk from the train. Amazing waterfront property with its own access bridge to its gorgeous pool and sea swimming area, with friendly staff.
On our first night, we woke up hot. We travel all the time for leisure and business and don't sleep in an icebox, but it was hot enough that we kept waking up. The AC was on and there was some coolness when standing next to it. A nice night attendant came and also confirmed that it was abnormally hot. He brought a portable cooling fan, which registered the room at 29C, or 84F. He apologized that nothing could be done that night, but that he had made a note. When we talked to the staff at the end of the next day, they confirmed that it was serviced. There was no change and they couldn't switch our room. So, we suffered in a hot room. I told the checkout accountant when we left. Not much empathy. We got a note from a manager telling us that it would be fixed for the next guest... this ignored OUR experience. Not even a discount or refund of a night was offered as a consolation. This is not reflective of 5 star service, especially in wonderful Italy. We would love to come back but this caused doubt.
