By New York standards our room was huuuge! We had a king size bed, kitchenette, dining table and chairs, walk-in wardrobe and a big bathroom with bathtub/shower combination. The hotel also has washers and driers available for use free of charge and they even provide the washing powder free too.
Location wise we were exactly where we wanted to be .....very close to Central Park without having to pay the ridiculous prices of the hotels literally just across the road from us. We have stayed once at The Plaza and several times at The Park Lane overlooking Central Park so we've been lucky enough to have the spectacular views but the prices have gone up so dramatically we decided it wasn't worth paying that price and opted instead for the AKA which is literally half a dozen steps across the road from the back entrances of both The Park Lane and The Plaza.
There are subway stations nearby making travelling around very easy and, if you want to make your own meals in the room there is a Wholefoods at Columbus Circle just a few minutes walk away.
When we return to New York we will be staying again at the AKA. The decor isn't as lavish and there is no spectacular view but at a much more reasonable price you get the same great location, an enormous room and more useful facilities than we had in either of the other hotels we have stayed in.

I rarely write reviews but felt my AKA experience was excellent. It’s a hidden gem near all the tourist attractions..Wonderful to have a kitchenette for stays longer than 5 days! Simple , understated design of room.

I stayed in A.k.A Central Park, while I was working in NYC, I liked the rooms they were large for NYC standards, and I liked the amenities and the location. I didn't particularly appreciate that my room was only cleaned one day during my stay, if I wanted everyday service I had to pay $75. I did not know this while I was looking and booking.

Perfect location

I did not enjoy my stay, and I don’t recommend it to anyone.
The description on Expedia is inaccurate they do NOT clean rooms on a daily basis. They only clean once a week, which I disliked, it should be at least every other day.
The shower design is extremely uncomfortable.
There is no isolation so it’s noisy at night. Also there is no AC, which is also inaccurately described.

we've stayed here before covid so were glad to come back - this time booked a bigger room with terrace - was a lovely room just like the photos. However the fridge kept defrosting so we lost food several times. Is definitely not as good as before covid. But thats not the hotels fault its covid I am sure as before they had lovely mix and mingle evenings in the lively bar area - now none of that and bar open random short times, the cafe was hardly ever open either :( So these are things I hope will change now things are coming back to life post covid. I will say the doorman... never seemed to be interested in the doors or luggage. Our housekeeping ladies were lovely, so was Hugo for our airport drop off service. The location here is fabulous for anyone wanting to visit NY. So close to some of the prettiest stores to see at xmas :) Very close to grocery&food stores as well as higher price fine dining. Super near central park & subways. Fast internet - great tv channel selections and viewing channels, great on site laundry room. Its a fab spot for getting around and being near a lot of iconic places and not to close to the nosier places. The hotel room itself was nice and quiet too - we def enjoyed our stay here and would recommend it to others happily. Oh! my hubby & I are both short - the shower is really high & doesn't have a head that can lower & no shower on a handle so rinsing a problem - but has a bath sized so we could actually soak in so that was nice.

There were some complication and misunderstanding while making a reservation mostly on my end, however they took care of it really well and solved the all problems. It felt like I was staying my little studio apartment and I so much like it! Super great location. They don't have a real restaurant however they do have a nice cozy cafe on the first floor where you can have quick coffee or breakfast. The guy at the cafe is the sweetest guy! Loved everything here. I will definitely come back.

Great location! Keep in mind that the hotel does not clean your room everyday, just once a week.

I came to NYC to meet my granddaughter born in Covid, and to visit 2 daughters I haven't been able to visit in over 2 years. I stayed a full week & the Central Park location was a convenient location for all. I love the space & amenities of a small apartment. The building even has free laundry. The staff are extremely friendly & helpful. I definitely want to stay here again.

This was a fabulous place to stay while I recovered from my surgery. The staff was so helpful and kind. Diana at the front desk was great with whatever I needed and the doorman (wish I could remember his name) was so sweet and funny. The location is so convenient to nearby awesome shopping, mini markets and coffee shops, salons, you name it! There’s a little salon across the street that will give you a great chair massage or foot massage for a great price. AND just a block away from the entrance to Central Park. I would definitely stay here again!

Large comfortable quiet rooms with walk in clothes closets. Bathroom a tad small and only one small shelf. Once a week cleaning not a problem. On site laundry facilities

Poor outlets for electronics, no walk-in shower, no heat when outside temperature was 30 degrees, platform bed frame same color as carpet with narrow path caused a visual problem.

outstanding location just 1 street back from central park south at a competitive price. staff are exceptionally professional but in a relaxed, informal manner. rooms are generous in terms of space and finished to a high standard.

What they quote that charge unlike some NYC hotels who rack up service charges that you don't use.

the location was superb, the staff were pleasant and helpful, the room was large by nyc standards, the rooms were quiet and clean, there is construction going on next door but noise doesn't start until 7:30

This is comfortable hotel in a brilliant location for sight seeing. Service was also excellent - including daily housekeeping and an informative and friendly front desk. An Aparthotel suited us brilliantly , so we could eat a simple breakfast ( and on 2 occasions in a very busy week - supper ) in our room .
This was recommended by our daughter and son in law ; we will recommend it to other friends in England .

Good location in Midtown near Central Park South. The suite was spacious and clean. The views were not so great even at the Penthouse floor. The suite is decorated in dark gray and feels quite depressing but it was clean.
Amenities are nice. Large gym and free laundry machines.

Always a good reliable option in NYC. I like staying near Central Park and often times hotel rates are through the roof. They were this week but AKA was half the price. It’s a great limited service hotel with super nice staff. No complaints. Only comment is that the hallways in the room floors are tired and dated but rooms are great. I’llBe back.

The hotel is in a prime location, yet surprisingly quiet. Our room was on the 11th floor. There was no street noise at all. The staff were all very courteous and professional. The hotel entrance lobby is very discreet, there are no delays at the elevator or reception desk that one encounters in larger hotels. There are no lounge or bar facilities. But this was not a problem because these were not important to our stay. The Wi-Fi performed excellently. The laundry facilities were good, though we did not need to use them.

fantastic location, so clean with a semi-kitchen that really came in handy. Heat wave in NY so we really appreciated the air conditioning. This will always be our go to place in the city!

The property is beautiful. The gym in particular is magnificent. I appreciated having access to a laundry room and the staff were incredibly attentive and helpful. The bed was amazing and the room was spacious.

Great location. Room keys didn’t work daily. Every time we came back to our room we were locked out. Also major construction was going next door so we were woken by drilling early in the am!

Amazing location! Close to Central Park and Town Square! The staff are so helpful and always willing to help. Makes you feel like a priority. Rooms were super clean and spacious. Found it fairly quiet at night too.

The room was nice. Much larger than other hotels. We had a full kitchen in our one bedroom. The room was clean. The location was nice and close to shopping and one block from Central Park. Everything overall was very good.

Comfortable, well situated hotel with extremely helpful staff. Public areas and bar were quiet and welcoming and the studio was well furnished. The bed was extremely comfortable and bathroom and small kitchen were adequately equipped. Would recommend.

How fortunate to have a day of over 70 degrees in February. Spent the entire day in Central Park with my 6 year granddaughter. It was so easy to get around from this fabulous location, walking was easy, subway close by and always a cab! The staff was amenable, anxious to help. The rooms are so very much larger that what is normally offered in NY and having kitchen facility made it so easy with a child. Not only would I highly recommend this hotel, we are looking for another few days when we can do it again.

Our stay at AKA Central Park made it already magical trip even better. The staff was warm and welcoming, rooms are clean and large but the location was the cherry on top. Steps away from shopping on 5th or at The Plaza, AKA seriously delivered. Special thanks to Autumn and Jay for going out of their way to make us feel taken care of! We'll be back soon.

A really nice comfortable hotel. The location was great as it's central, but also tucked out the way a little so it's not too noisy or busy. The room was quiet and clean and furnished to a very high standard. I felt really comfortable there.
It was really handy having a little kitchenette as it meant not having to buy food out for every meal, so reducing the cost a little.
