Had trouble getting any sleep because of a loud TV in the next room. Had to call the office numerous times and actually go to the front desk in person before they finally got the TV turned down, but by that time it was too late and already morning.

They are conditioner was so loud that it was difficult to sleep. They also advertise free breakfast yet they never had free breakfast.

Their concept of "Free Parking" is a misnomer. There are not enough spaces for all guests. There IS free parking, if you get there early enough. Otherwise, you need to park on the street, which is metered until 6pm, so NOT free. My room key worked once then had to be replaced. I was woken up, after midnight, by water leaking into my bathroom, from the room above. This was, apparently, because the occupant of the room above "didn't use the shower properly". It took 5 minutes to wake the night manager, so he could call up to the room above mine and give me extra towels, for the flooding. I considered asking for another room, but there were no other vacancies, so why bother. The cabinet that hid the fridge wouldn't close and it was so close to the bed, that I nearly tripped over it.

The room was clean and tidy, but it looked like it was just "thrown together". Some of the outlets/usb plugs were rusted and/or not working. The sink faucet worked, but wasn't secured in place and the bathtub faucet was sticking and hard to operate. The room is in desperate need of maintenance.

I liked that I was so close to the university and i was walking distance to the market. Very convenient location for an affordable price.

Nice and clean hotel, they don't have breakfast! Because they are renovated the palace

Great stay

The place was filthy. My room smelled like mildew, the carpets were stained and the sheets had cigarette burns. There were a few people loitering in the parking lot (I don't know if they were employees but why would they need to hang out in the parking lot late in the evening). It smelled like smoke the moment I stepped outside. I ended up checking out the same night I checked in. In speaking to the man at the front desk there was no resolution to the problem, a refund or an offer to a different room. I ended up driving two hours back home and cut my trip short, losing over $100. Please do yourself a favor and don't stay at this place. It is dirty and there are much better options at the same price point.

The rooms smelled awful. It had “halfway house” vibes. Nothing like the online pics or reviews.

The hotel was situated in a fairly pleasant and quiet part of Berkeley and about a 15 minute walk to the campus edge. The hotel itself was a bit run down. Water somehow leaked from my sink into the quarters below. I hope they fix it soon. The staff were very friendly. The breakfast was nothing to write home about. The lodging cost was reasonable.

Friendly staff.

Good location

The location was perfect, as we were in Berkely for a show at the UC theater. Only 3 blocks, and wonderful staff and room.

Limited parking

It was good, just they can improve in cleaning more frequently the rooms but everything was fine

For the price of the room, we expected more from this stay. The room was in pretty bad disrepair and the cleanliness was not great. The shower head had been removed, there were shelves that were removed, but the drywall was never repaired, the bathroom did not lock, the windows and blinds were super dirty, and the door handle to get into the room was not clean.

Pretty uncomfortable stay. Took a while to get in, staff was playing loud music next to our room but they did turn it off once we requested them to. The room had basic amenities but the appearance was very shabby. There were extremely loud noises from upstairs at one point that was concerning enough for us to wonder if we needed to call 911.

But Noisy

We had everything we need. Clean and nice!

ROOM CLEANLINESS, ESPECIALLY THE FLOOR. IT WAS KIND OF GRIMMY
3.5
Staff was friendly; property was older and not too well maintained. Limited parking. Rooms were small but adequate.

The hotel was clean and surprisingly quiet for the most part despite its location on the busy major road. Room was comfortable and everything seemed newer than the price or exterior may imply. Breakfast was modest but plenty sufficient. Staff was very nice in switching me to a less smoke smelling room.

Very helpful front office

Staff was great, property itself was fine, room smelled very strongly of smoke, bed was stiff and weird, and furniture was old and in need of replacement. Would stay again if price was right.

Limited parking space,

It appears that there's a parking space for all the guest . The rooms are clean. The microwave, coffee maker, & TV all work.... PLUS, there's actually a free breakfast! We stayed at this same hotel this past January (5 months ago), and was told by the manager the free breakfast was a web-site mis- print. We stayed at this hotel because it is one of the less expensive hotels @ Berkeley.

The hotel is nice. The breakfast has cereal and yogurt (on top of coffee, and those packed pastries). The woman in service was super nice.

I like the area its in
3.5
One night a car parked by who knows played loud music from 3am until i lost count. Being too tired and too timid to start up with a complete stranger while jet lagged and hoping for a peaceful remainder i did nothing. But i was mad and lost sleep
3.5
The hotel is fine for those who on a budget like me. The outside appearance had me concerned about the room but I was not disappointed I stayed there. Very clean; comfortable. TV worked well as did the WiFi. The bus I needed to take me to my conference on the campus saved me a lot of money in transportation. The area would not be conducive to walking alone at night in the dark would be my only concern.
3.5
Never going back there! It was not clean at all and there was poop on the floor that they did not want to clean.
3.5
Convenient location in Central Berkeley.
3.5
It was clean, the only negative thing is that you mentioned a continental breakfast on your website but there was no continental breakfast offered once there.
3.5
Extremely nice desk attendant.

The staff was horrible. I pick up second floor to have a quiet room. However, even at 11:30pm, my next door people were still talking, laughing, opening/ closing the door.
The even worse thing was the staff. He knocked at my door several times from 11:30pm, last at least 15 minutes. At first I thought it was a man who knocked next door. But it it turned out he knocked my door. I am a lady who stayed in room herself. I was so scared l, didn’t know who was knocking, and what was going on? I called front desk and nobody pickup phone. The knock continued, and I had to response. Then it was staff who asked me to turn down the music!??? I told him I was very quiet and didn’t make any noise. The noise was not from my room. 20 minutes later (after 12am) , the staff knocked my room AGAIN, still for several times, I asked him what’s going on again. He said there was music and TV noise. I told him again I didn’t turn on music or TV! I was very quiet! Around 12:30am I heard music came from down stairs.
The staff knocked at a lady’s room at midnight for so many times without having basic judgment. How rude he is! I feel unsafe and violated.

The “free breakfast” is a lie.
Room had a used coffee machine with water and a spent keurig cup in it. Floor was dirty.
3.5
There is nothing unique or impressive about this hotel. When we checked in and it was down hill from there. The bed is hard as a rock, the desk area was so close to the bed we had to pick the chair up and move it to be able to use it. There were hanging and exposed wires for all the electronics in the room. definitely will not be staying here again for the 130 a night after fees and taxes.
3.5
Pros: The location was convenient. The service was great.
Cons The room smelled like carpet cleaner. The bathroom and wash basin was separate, and there was no towel hanger by the wash basin.
3.5
Wonderful stay. Clean, reasonably priced, nice location, friendly staff. Food is not offered due to COVID- so maybe the site should have reflected that.
