We stayed for a stop over before an early flight. Host was nice enough. Room was freezing, radiator hadn't been turned on so it took forever to warm up. Very noisy due yo close proximity to reception and a guest was complaining very loudly at the receptionist at 10pm. Bed was alright. Tv didn't work.

I have stayed here a few times and have found it comfortable and clean . Plenty of parking too. Check in is quick and staff helpful and friendly.
3.8
Nice room, plenty of parking.
3.8
Very noisy with the planes constantly flying over, the room was also very dark and dingy so decided not to stay
3.8
Not good! Parking too far from the room. Room across the road! The key didn’t work 3 times. No breakfast and no where to have dinner.
3.8
No restaurant or bar facilities available when we arrived,so a bit disappointed but the room was lovely
3.8
No bar or restaurant, as they are being refurbed. This wasnt very clear when I made the booking !!
3.8
Lovely room . Noisy with the planes and being refurbished so no facilities for evening or breakfast
3.8
Friendly greeting at check-in and offer to book taxi to airport straight away. Bed was extremely comfortable. Shower was powerful and hot. As others have stated it is on the flight path for Stansted with airplanes taking off over the hotel. I just had the TV on quietly and the planes didn't really bother me,as I'm used to a noisy house. If you like silence this may not be the hotel for you
3.8
Again restaurant shut . Was given a very small too
Room was not adequate for my needs and what I paid for had to argue with male on duty ! Suddenly got the room I paid for
3.8
It is being refurbished and there is no indication of this when I booked it on Hotels.com.
There was no bar, they offered drinks from a fridge that had to paid for there and then not your room to paid for at the end. No food including breakfast. The rooms needed upgrading as they were in poor condition. No service what so ever. All in all a bad experience.

I only spent a very short time here on the way to an early morning flight. I arrived late in the evening 10.30ish and the staff member on the front desk was very welcoming, professional and friendly - even booked me a taxi for the morning to the airport - which I hadn't properly thought through at that stage - so saved me a job! Slept well and left bright and breeezy

On first site this hotel is beautiful with loads of character, with beautiful grounds and at a reasonable price.
Unfortunately its basically at the end of the runway of Stansted Airport with planes taking off and landing approximately every 3 minute's.
Because of the hotels age the windows.are still single panes of glass and the noise can be heard like your standing outside.
My room wasnt located in the main hotel, it was in the building across the road and although there was a carpark directly outside of my room i was told i wasnt allowed to use it and had to park my vehicle on the carpark behind the main hotel which was approximately 100mtrs away which wasn't ideal considering i have walking difficulties.
3.8
Room was so hot as the radiators were left on and there's no windows to open. I don't understand why they didn't have the heating switched off in the middle of summer.
3.8
The accommodation is being renovated to a high standard but we did not realise there is no restaurant or any catering facilities onsite, and will not be for 12 months! It is also close to the runway so planes taking off or landing are very low flying over the hotel.
3.8
The hotel deserves good ratings for it's friendly team and convenient location and cheap price. But the main letdown for me is the poor sound insulation. The walls seem to be very thin as you can hear your next door - talking, opening doors, drawers, wardrobes... Rooms are converted from a big mansion so that's probably normal. But I was waken a few times by early guests departing and staff entering the building and next door
3.8
Directly under the flight path so very noisy. Our so called ‘deluxe’ room opened on to a road. Defensive manager when I explained the floor of the room hadn’t been cleaned. Other than that adequate if you need a convenient overnight stay.
3.8
No dining facilities or bar and until 2mths ago housed refugees!
On direct flight path so very noisy. No air con, very hot! Couldn’t have windows open because too noisy. Not a great stay, wouldn’t recommend.
3.8
The hotel is in a convenient location for Stanstyairport. The hotel is an old Manor House and has great potential but needs a complete renovation
3.8
No restaurant facilties. Worth the £60.00 I paid for the night.
3.8
Super friendly staff at check in and check out, late check in (around 1am) was no problem :)
3.8
We stayed in room 34 (top of the stairs) it was beautiful with the sitting area and then the bedroom. The room was so warm and the aircon didn’t really reach the bedroom so was very hot in there. We couldn’t open the velux windows either. Beautiful location and stunning place. William the receptionist was so nice and friendly and happy to help when we reported an issue with one of the TVs. He’s a real character
3.8
Obviously, I stayed there to get to the airport very noisy because of the planes so would suggest earplugs
3.8
Hotel okay for the money BUT. Check car parking signs. I was told by reception that my car was okay and she took registration number. I have
Received a £100 car parking fine for the 6 hrs my car was in car park. Spoke to car parking people said I was told wrong info. Very unhappy.
So beware of the parking.
3.8
Lovely setting but poor comfort in room, esp bed. No breakfast available. Knew it might be noisy with airport but also others talking loudly in reception at 11.30 plus.
3.8
This hotel is amazing for what we needed it for!
3.8
Very friendly and professional receptionist.
No bar or food.
Room across a very busy road with very little pedestrian thought.
Paper thin walls woken up in the night by people being shown to their room.
Tv didn’t work. Shower was very good.
Right on the flight path, to stansted incredibly noisy with no double glazing..
Room was modern and clean. I suspect there are a better places to stay and main building very rundown.
3.8
Arrived to be told everything shut, bar restaurant as undergoing refurbishment
Ladies on reception lovely though
Bed short , feel every spring , toilet doesn’t flush
3.8
A lovely hotel in a great location for the airport, but could be so much better if work was done there. Has great potential. The downstairs is currently a dumping ground which you can see, there’s duck poo everywhere outside and the windows in our room were all misted up from inside the double glazing. Room was big, nicely laid out, noise from airplanes weren’t bad, it’s next to an airport so expected.
3.8
No WiFi in room
Underneath flight path with old single glassing

We booked 2 rooms, due to a late finish at work. Would have been better to return home at 2 am in the morning. Noisy guests on and off until 3am, which you can get at any hotels, but the rooms do not insulate from the noise. I asked if there was a night porter to help manage noisy guests the next morning to be told yes. I asked could they not walk around the buildings to manage nuisance guests. I was told in the night porters defence he may not have heard them, which I highlighted was clearly the case when there is a road and 500m between. Both rooms booked were in different parts of the hotel, but both parties were disturbed. I get the impression people book here to leave for flights in the early hours. Would not have left a review if my feedback had been listened to rather than strange excuses given.

Very handy near Stansted for early flight.
Right under flight parh but quite FUN,on does get used to the sound of aircrafts taking off after a while.
Beautiful setting.
3.8
Nice hotel with very friendly and helpful staff, however the bar was unmanned and had to request reception to provide bar service which made not bother. And there was no in hotel evening meals available.
The hotel is still refurbishing their restaurant and other areas.
There was a lot of noise in the early hours as I could hear heavy footsteps in room above me, people moving furniture about, and people going up and down stairs slamming doors etc. Not a peaceful sleep at all.
3.8
Room was near to road and had disturbed sleep.
3.8
Am going to say poor really staff were very nice no issues there however couldnt get tv on in 1st room so was moved tv worked however shower was cold so moved again was put in another which was a big room but felt empty cold needed more furniture shower took a while to heat up tv kept jumping to netflix with names i had no clue ...heating not able to ajust in room just all a bit cold wouldnt stay again shame grand building grounds okay and parking lacking the love and whats with the 2 teabag thing which all hotels are doing so you got to go and request more MADDNESS

Upon arriving we noticed a signed saying that the bar and restaurant were closed for the foreseeable future! There were no facilities to get food or drink and we had to drive out to find somewhere. This was not ideal and we were lucky a pub served us as it was gone 8.00 pm. Also there are very low flying planes all day and all night which is extremely noisy. There are earplugs supplies in the drawers of the bedside cabinet which says it all!! The hotel is not in a good state, the bar and restaurant is empty, another room you walk through is like a ghost town, the lake is a mess and you can’t walk round it very well. It’s a real shame as this would be a lovely place if someone bothered to spend the money. I blame hotels.com as nowhere on the site for this hotel did it say there was no bar or restaurant even though the hotel informed me they were informed back in March! They don’t tell you about the planes either!!!

I have stayed here several times. It is a good value hotel close to Stansted. I always end up with a room across the road and not in the main hall. It is dark over there and between 1am-3am, when I tend to check in after a late flight, there tends to be at least one male guest still up and loitering about outside. I have never had any trouble and they mind their own business but it can be disconcerting to a lone female traveller late at night. It is clean, but the beds can be a little rickety. It is under the flight path and has single pane windows so pack ear plugs. Works fine for me though to get for a few hours sleep before hitting the road. Why do I stay? A great cooked to order breakfast option! Shame they invested in a coffee machine as the cafetière coffee they used to do was much better. Also the sausages used to be better. But it is still 1000% better than Holiday Inn Express or Premier Inn breakfasts.
3.8
Unfortunately the restaurant was closed the receptionist was doing everything bar work reception and making teas and coffees.more staff needed
3.8
staff were very helpful and did more than enough during our stay. Rooms need a bit of updating and if you are a light sleeper, i would highly recommend ear plugs as you are on the flight path to stansted. would of liked to have been told in advanced that the bar and restaurant was closed due to refurbishment. would stay again due to location and to see what it is like when it is fully running
3.8
Advertised as 4 star with restaurant and bar, more like 2/3 star with no restaurant and bar available. It’s unacceptable to accept bookings with clear miss representation and not inform clients and give the opportunity to cancel and book elsewhere. Double glazing so close to the flight path was sadly not provided and we had a sleepless disturbed night.
