The hotel is very old, and while well maintained and clean, not up to modern standards in a few ways. Elevator took us to the second floor but then there were two sets of stairs ( carpeted ) to navigate. Bathroom was nicely renovated but the door opened inwards making it difficult to easily enter the small space because of the placement of the sink. We could not open the window for fresh air more than a couple of inches. The staff were all very nice and welcoming, and the food was pretty good at breakfast and the one dinner we had. Nicest touch was the coffee maker in the room. The bed was bery comfortable, and the shower was great. It was fine, but not as good as we had anticipated.

Nice building, good service, nice restaurant (a bit pricey maybe). Not too fond of carpets in the room, but the bed was good.

Our room was on the third floor, so we had to get the elevator, it was then down two flights of stairs into a very small, hot and dark room where neither the WiFi or or phone signal worked. We went back to reception and asked if we can change rooms or even potentially pay more for an upgrade as there were rooms on all booking sites available. One lady on reception was pleasant and said no, the other was quite snarky and rolled her eyes at me for asking. The room we were given certainly was not a 4 star hotel room.
Second to this, the meal was slightly overpriced for what we got. The steak was requested medium but came very well done. We didn’t bring this to their attention as the attitude I experienced when asking to change rooms put me off bringing any issues to their attention

Hotel needs some updating but nice big room with a gorgeous view.

It was once a grand hotel but has seen better days.
4.1
Stylish, comfortable traditional hotel with outstanding sea views. Close to the excellent Blue Pool walk and Garinish Island.

We have just come back after a 3 night stay. Our room 406 was clean & well equipped. However the nice new shower flooded the bathroom & at night you could hear a generator or something above the room that kept me awake…a big shout out to the lovely bar man (sorry we didn’t get your name) & Margo Donovan who was also lovely…food at this hotel is very good. We had a nice view over the sea.

wonderful friendly staff who couldn't do enough for us . We didn't try the spa but the bar food and breakfast was great , we shall return
4.1
Historic hotel with old world charm. Lovely staff and complimentary breakfast that exceeded expectations—maybe our best breakfast experience in Ireland!
Glengariff was also perfectly situated for our check in following our drive around the Ring of Kerry!
4.1
Lovely hotel with lots of character overlooking the water. Had a complementary upgrade to a Seaview room which was nicely decorated and clean. The room is a little small but suited us just fine. Breakfast was good in the morning with fresh pastries and a made to order selection. Spa experience was also nice overlooking the harbour

Luckily we were only staying one night - This was a 10 night trip staying in a range of hotels and this was the smallest room we experienced.
I had to stand between the toilet and the shower (a narrow gap) to be able to close the bathroom door behind me. There was barely enough room in the wardrobe to hang anything (because of the bathrobes, ironing board and iron etc.) and only enough room for one of us to dress by the wardrobe at any time.
We realise that the hotel is a listed building and they don't have the ability to create more space but it you have a choice avoid room 304.
Service was helpful and food was good. Parking was plentiful outside the front of the hotel.

Great location, friendly staff and excellent service.

A nice hotel in a nice location, only our room was a bit small

Excellent older hotel with old world charm .

Staff very helpful and friendly. We were a bit disappointed in our original room so they offered a really nice alternative.

Great to revisit 50 years after our honeymoon there.
Great service from very friendly staff.

The hotel is lovely. Our room on the 4th floor had dormers, as it presumably was the old servants’ quarters, which made it a bit cramped, but otherwise was nice. The desk staff person was lovely. At dinner, the restaurant staff seemed almost frantic, which made for a less-than-perfect experience.

Great quality food. Nice furnishings

The Eccles is well worth the stay. The food and the ambience of the hotel are superb and the staff were extremely welcoming. The rooms are small, but cleverly laid out to give the illusion of space, and let's face it if you are using the room just to sleep, do you need a massive room? The room was newly renovated with a very comfy 5ft bed and I really liked the cosiness. I had room to lay out the yoga mat, so the rooms aren't too tiny.
The food and the view with dinner were definitely the highlight for me though. I look forward to staying again.

For an old property it was so clean and comfortable. Lovely job modernizing without losing all its charm.

Very good , staff were very friendly and relaxed. Rooms are on the small side. No bed linen changed fir a 4 night stay a bit disappointing but understand this is as a result of COVID. Very relaxing atmosphere with fantastic views of bantry bay!
4.1
Lovely location and staff were really friendly. Meals have to be prebooked so worth doing that early if you want a specific time.
4.1
The food was very good. The service was extremely good in general, and the staff members were both professional and charming, but one person on the desk might have worked a bit harder on warmth.
4.1
The staff extremely efficient and friendly
As far as hotel food goes this is at the top off it’s game this kitchen has very serious skilled hands
The only down side the room we stayed in was a little tired looking but I do see signs renovations are in progress the food more than made up for it
We’ll done staff at Eccless well done kitchen

Eccles staff always very welcoming. Great place to relax.

Great staff, whose helpfulness excels.
One waiter even dropped a (local) friend home when no taxis were available at 2am

I was travelling solo so room was small with no view which was a little disappointing but to counter that, staff were particularly friendly (especially the waiting staff) and welcoming. Hotel is beautifully laid out and very old world in a scenic spot on the Beara penninsula

This is the second time I have stayed at The Eccles. Its a fabulous, homely and cosy hotel with amazing food and very friendly staff. Location is superb in the village with fabulous views. There is really nothing more I would want in a hotel. Loved it, we had such a relaxing break with friends. The hot tubs are such a bonus too!

History and attention to details was good. Helpful reception team and very friendly breakfast waiter who was attentive and helpful.
Some updating would be good...pillows not great, coffee and kettle in difficult to get to spot in the cupboard. Window not aligned so difficult to open and close.

Stayed for our 25th anniversary they made so special by having chocs & prosecco in room(I had pre ordered these)but added extras was lovely. All staff super friendly & helpful

Excellent hotel- old world charm with modern amenities

There was a glitch with our reservation, no fault of the hotel. Mary and Patrick went above and beyond to accommodate us and did they ever! We were given the last room which happened to be the bridal suite which was phenomenal.

The food was really good and the brown bread the best I’ve ever had❤️

Very old, dirty, hot hotel

Great hotel
Beautiful location
Staff could not be better
4.1
Overall it was a pleasant stay. The bar food and service was excellent and to be recommended.
However the breakfast experience was bizarre. The staff could not cope with the numbers. There didn't appear to be anyone in overall charge. Table not set properly-got bowl instead of a cup!!
Ran out of glasses, plates for buffet, butter. 2nd morning there was nothing available for the menu only buffet food. Ordered coffee and got tea one morning.
Serious attention needed to breakfast organisation. In my opinion the room was understaff and staff not trained adequately. However everyone was very polite and pleasant.

beautiful old world charm; great location with lovely views.

Nice location overlooking the sea. Quaint building in need of some love. Rooms were ok. Breakfast was mayhem but it was busy for a Monday. Hotels nearby were similar price and look a lot more modern. If your after luxury it’s not the place but not too bad either.
