We were made welcome on arrival and helped to our room with our bags. We enjoyed the balcony with a view and the comfort of our room, although the space was limited. There was a tiny space for clothes hanging and nowhere to store cases or bags. The bathroom was lovely and was very clean. We had a good breakfast and an evening meal which was disappointing, the menu was short of fresh options and lacked imagination. The attention to detail was poor regarding the food & service and really needs to improve. The staff were engaging and friendly, happy to help. The location is good and there are other local places to eat nearby.

Just a 3 night stay, but made very enjoyable by our stay at the Victory. We will surely return. Staff friendly and helpful. Breakfast great, Location great, what more can you ask?

Our second stay here. Really friendly and helpful staff. Small but comfortable bedroom. Great walk in shower. We didn't have dinner here but we enjoyed a fresh cooked to order English breakfast which was delicious. We'll definitely stay again when in the area.

Excellent spacious room with wonderful estuary views. Hotel is really well located for walks around the island and close enough to walk into town too.

We had a very good stay. The room was lovely great view staff were very friendly and nothing was too much trouble. Fabulous breakfast enjoyed it so much we stayed for lunch and enjoyed the live entertainment of sing Steve Brewer. Only regret is we hadn’t booked a 2 night stay.

Very friendly staff, they had fruit, snacks, tea, coffee and toilet roll that you could help yourself to if you wanted/needed.

Although the stay was very short , I did ask and pay for deluxe room
With balcony overlooking the beach area.
We didn’t get that , we got a room at the back of the pub area, very noisy neighbours, thin walls .
But couldn’t fault the interior, or the room/ bed and bathroom.
Extremely clean and catered for .

Lovely river views from our balcony room. We had stayed here years ago but I don’t remember the rooms being so small, I think they’ve all been refurbished and are all small now although they do have good size bathrooms. It was fine for one night but wouldn’t want to stay longer in such a small room. Food was good and plentiful (we really wouldn’t have ordered a starter had we known!)

I booked an accessible room as my wife uses a wheelchair but can walk short distances with 2 walking sticks. We found the Garden Room No. 7 was ideal for our purposes. They were flexible regarding breakfast items and were happy to accommodate variations on the listed menu.

Disappointing that you pay for bed and breakfast yet you cant actually get breakfast when your there.

I found the hotel comfortable with friendly staff who were obliging.
Its a striking building with nice views. We only stayed one night, we were attending a friends wedding.
The rooms are modern and fresh looking if not a little overpriced. I realise this is essex and tjere aren't many options on Mersea but £140 per night is high. I guess if we all pay it it will not change.
The breakfast was delicious and again the staff were obliging.
The tables in the restaurant are tacky to the touch and i noticed one staff member spraying some kind of chemical all over the table then wiped it off with paper, it was a bit over the top and would be better if it was rinsed off with water....no more sticky tables.
Anyway overall a great night.

Unfortunately we didnt sleep very well, the bed was uncomfortable, the room was hot, (it didnt help that the towel rail was on full blast). A fan in the room would have helped. The bathroom mirror light & extractor fan didnt work & needs attention. People smoking outside directly below us, so the smell of cigarette smoke wafted up to our room, l realise not much can be done about that.
On a positive note the full english breakfast was delicious.

I'm sure there are much nicer rooms at the Victory, but, unfortunately for us, they were not available. We requested a double room, but were given a twin room as it was the only one available. The carpet on the floor was very dirty and stained. The beds were tiny and on opposite sides of the room. The lamp-shade was tatty. It was cold and raining when we stayed, so we looked for heating. The option was a plug-in electric heater, but the legs had come off, so we had to balance the heater precariously on the feet. The bathroom door handle came off in my hand. The sink was grubby. The shower temperature wasn't consistent. The toilet seat did not fit the toilet.
The breakfast was OK and the staff were friendly, but the room we stayed in needs a lot of attention.

The room was so small there was no room for bedside tables and the bathroom was very small with inadequate lighting. Two friends stayed in single rooms which were bigger than our so-called double. This room should never be sold as a double room.

Well done Peter the Manager he works very hard and makes you feel welcome.

Was a tad disappointing in that we slept very poorly. The dinner the night before seemed to have been warmed in a microwave as our cod has soft wet batter.
The staff were friendly and we had a nice hot shower.

The room was quite small with only a double bed but it was very clean and tidy, the en-suite was modern, clean and big enough but could have done with an extractor fan. Staff were friendly and helpful. The batter was burnt in the evening meal but otherwise food was good. Plenty of tea/coffee facilities in the room with decent sized cups (unusual for recent hotel stays) with extra tea, coffee etc on a table in the hall outside the room. Room was a bit stuffy during the night so had to open the balcony door - balcony shared with two other rooms but fortunately they were unoccupied that night. Free parking at the front of the building.
