The staff was helpful and always had a member who could speak English. Food was great. The room, common areas and grounds were always well kept.

The hotel itself was great! Extremely helpful and nice staff. The location was however not the best. I didn’t feel safe walking around at night alone or even with my partner. A lot of homeless near by and a lot of people told me that theft is very high in that part of town.

The breakfast was great.

The property inside is good but properly because of the value so breakfasts time is like a zoo. Out side of property has big area for night club, drinking so good for someone who needs a lot of party nights.

This property is beautiful. There is an older section that has great character and architecture. This is where we stayed. It was a very great experience. There is also a more modern part of the property with all the modern conveniences. Once inside the facility it is very clean, safe, and inviting. However, the area of the city is less desirable. Like most cities, there are areas less clean and less safe. This is the area of the city that this hotel is in. Plenty of trash and unsavory smells in the area around the hotel. If you are a little adventurous and cautious this is a wonderful hotel to stay in. Again, the hotel and staff met or exceeded everything we could want for our trip to Rio.

Very good surprise

Its a cool old building. Its self contained. But its in a noisy, rundown part of town. If this is the area you need to be in, its nice.

This property is top notch! The neighborhood is lacking

This is a beautiful luxury hotel, renovated from an old historic building, great location in downtown, which also means that you are near the great music bars in Rio, but also the surroundings could get tricky at night. The breakfast and swimming pool were great. Overall, a fantastic option if you want to stay in the Lapa area.

excellent place downtown

To be fair the location isn’t the best Rio de Janiero can offer but if you seek a clean hotel with an amazing pool area at lower cost than this hotel will appeal.

Fantastic stay! We had a beautiful room (junior suite which I highly recommend since it’s just a little bit more money over a standard room.
Breakfast was great! Very much to choose from and everything was fresh. Egg station could make you any egg you wanted.
Pool is on of the biggest in Rio. Enough loungers aswell.
Very kind staff. Nothing is too much!
Be aware that the neighbourhood is not the cleanest or most touristic one. But it is safe. You can take a taxi/ Uber to any place very easily. I would recommend this place over a hotel at the Copacabana.

You wouldn't expect it from outside, but it’s a nice, safe and a enjoyable hotel. We enjoyed it, including the location for sightseeing.

The staff are very friendly & attentive. I would like to make a special mention to Sasha on reception who booked a tour for me which took a while due to coomunications issues with the tour operator, not Sasha. I think we focus too much on leaky showers etc & not enough on the hotel staff who really go out of their way to make their guests feel valued.

Quiet hotel in busy area, staff could be more helpful (not sure if it was communication issue or attitude but were unable to get help with basic things)

The property is located in poor downtown neighbourhoods also inside property is like 5 star resort but out side a bit challenging to walk around.
We enjoyed staying there but try to be in hotel by 7 pm .

This hotel is very well located in the heart of Rio de Janeiro. Upon arrival it was very hot outside, and I was delighted that the room came with fantastic AC to immediately cool down. The WiFi was fine, as was the restaurant. With the canaval happening, this hotel was a nice place to get away from the chaos

Me and my girlfriend spent the new years eve in Rio and we arrived a bit early to the hotel not aware we were ahead 3 hours from the UK. They took care of our bags while the room was being prepared. We have been provided with a great service from check in to check out!! Vladmir and Guilherme took care of us in the nicest possible way and and we loved the style of the hotel, the staff and the pool bar.
The breakfast is nothing short of extraordinary with a great variety for every taste and lots of staff taking care of the room. Next time I am in Rio I will be back to Vila Galé! Also is very close to the great Lapa nightlife which is amazing and vibrant! Obrigado a todos. David e Liliana

It’s a very nice hotel. The staff were very friendly, nice and helpful. We received the best service in the hotel from check in, check out, upload suitcases to Uber, at their restaurant, etc. The shower was excellent. The hot water came on instantaneously, almost as the Venetian hotel in LV. The price was right compared to the Hilton we just stayed before in rio.

Lovely hotel and excellent value

The room was so noisy, echoing every sound from the hallway, including the elevator buttons being pressed. The room was shabby, with soiled curtains and a black mold growing in the rim of the sink.
4.0 / 10.0
Not congenial atmosphere and lots of snobs walking around. The description of the apartment was deceiving and no views as they said it would have bur buildings with windows, windows, and windows. It was very expensive hotel and mostly business type. The parking lot was very expensive and very challenge to find a spot.....We would not go back.

We stayed at Vila Gale for 2 nights in room 203. It was billed a Jr. Suite I believe and was really an enormous single room with a separate double closet area and an enormous bath with 2 sinks. The hotel staff was excellent and the rooms and facilities were very clean. Disappointing was the quality of the breakfast and lack of dining options for lunch or dinner. We are vegetarians and could not eat at all in the restaurant for lunch or dinner. I would suggest getting a room poolside as this is very scenic and quiet. I would recommend!

I always stay there. It is priced lower than Copacabana because it is not in the best neighborhood but nevertheless is in a Bohemian part of the city with many bars and restaurants. Vila Gale feels like a little oasis in Downtown Rio.

Great location and the pool is fantastic.

All was nice. We had a little issue with a toilet, and it was resolved in an hour. We needed an adapter-it was given to us at the front desk. I would suggest the hotel may allocate a space to iron clothes or to have a few irons available upon demands.

Although the local area was not great but it is near supermarket the hotel was very good and the staff were very friendly and hhelpful

The pool is a really nice size and space with great bar - more of a party pool for sure.
Service was a bit lacking - took nearly 45 mins to check out with huge queues all morning. Really difficult to get towels for the pool. Breakfast was excellent

Great staff, great wifi, breakfast, air conditioning. It is very clean, staff are very friendly. Rooms are a bit basic, but totally a great value. Would stay again!

The best hotel I stayed in in Rio! The personnel spoke wonderful English, was very friendly, and respectful. The room had an amazing view of the pool. I was able to sit by the pool until late at night and enjoy. The music was a perfect ambiance and they even respected the silence after dark. The breakfast buffet was the best as well! Cool neighborhood. If this hotel was by the beach I would have paid double
