Staff is incredibly nice, friendly and helpful. Location is also fantastic for shopping in Tonala. We did have a small problem with some mosquitos in the room, possibly due to a few windows overlooking the bar that could not seal tightly

As other reviews have said, the staff is wonderful and the restaurant across the street is very good. I visited in late June and it was very quiet. I stayed longer in Tonala in part because I enjoyed the hospitality at the hotel. Thank you.
I’ll be back.
If you’re going to use the buses when you’re in town, download Moovit app, it’s very good. And whatsapp is commonly used.

Love this hotel. Very closed for what I need

The bathroom is terrible and a death trap.
Average size room, very dark, unable to open the window because lack of screen and a multitude of mosquitos in the area.
A glass shower stall in a corner just 3 feet from one of the beds forcing one of us (sisters) to leave the room so the one taking a shower could have some privacy.
The toilet is located on a lower level.
To access the toilet one must go down three very steep, very dark narrow steps with nothing to hold on.
Once in the toilet area about three feet wide by five feet long (estimated, not measured) I was not able to put on contacts or even makeup because lack of light.
The only light was a very low voltage single light above the tiny sink.
The room also had a staled smell, almost moldy. With no car and not knowing the town our only consolation was that it was a one night stay.
Service was excellent! Very friendly and accommodating.
Will never go back even if some of the rooms are better, none of them have screens on the windows.

We loved the place but only problem was that we got room 14 and some dogs across the street didn’t really let us sleep. No hot water either

Great location for wandering through Tonalá. The hotel is super cute. My Mom loved the very firm beds. There was very little water coming out of the shower.
Great WiFi, nice seating area in common spaces with a fountain. Would definitely stay again.

The property is situated within walking distance of the main street and shopping. The hotel is quiet, secure and attractive with old world charm.
The staff are exceptionally kind, friendly and helpful.
There is a restaurant immediately opposite the hotel that is open all day and serves excellent food in a garden atmosphere.

Excellent hotel in Tonala.

Fabulous place, so quaint and clean. Beautiful courtyards, close to shopping, spacious rooms, wonderful staff. I’m already planning my next visit.

This is an old hotel in a gritty area of Tonalá. It is well run and the staff are great. There is some secure parking at no charge. The rooms are a little tired, thin sheets in ours. The bed was good. Certainly acceptable for a short stay. It’s close to the shopping streets and Centro. Really nice garden seating areas for coffee or a night cap.

A wonderful stay. Perfect rooms with new bathrooms. Close enough to shopping to return with your purchases and head out again. The staff was very accommodating and helpful. Would definitely stay again.

Very traditional and cozy hotel. Excellent staff and very clean rooms. Very good location.

Charming place, with a quaint courtyard, was the perfect location for the Tianguis. This hotel doesn’t have any amenities so it was just a place to shower and sleep.
The ladies at the front desk were very nice and helpful.
I will definitely stay again.

Very nice and comfortable small hotel. Very friendly and caring staff . Clean, hot/cold water, tea, coffee provided. All necessary amenities in room. Three blocks away from Main Street but safe walking. Many restaurants to choose. Will recommend this hotel to stay.

Nice boutique hotel, with pleasant garden area. Staff is very nice.
My only significant complaint is the hotel parking. They list free parking, but in reality they only have a garage with space for one or two cars. We ended up parking on the street.

I loved the old style Mexican vibe and the friendly staff. It's not the Ritz but it's clean, quiet and purely Mexican wonderful.

I like that it’s a very well kept old hotel. Too many stairs but that is what makes it unique.

A boutique hotel made from a cute old mansion. Unfortunately we did not have the adequate information prior to our arrival. First, our payment on Hotels.com was not processed, by hotels request, so they could charge an additional fee to use your credit card. If we had known we could have brought enough pesos. Second their parking, while secure and onsite was inadequate, needed to be scheduled for arrival and departures and 2 of the four parking spots were taken by staff. And lastly, the ongoing renovations during our four days stay created a lot of debris that made accessing our room difficult. Our home is under renovations, we were hoping for a break!! This information should be available prior to booking. Having said this, the staff and management were lovely!! Very friendly and extremely helpful. If you wish to walk through Tonala an excellent location and very pet friendly!

They were in the middle of remodeling/repair but it was very nice.

The hotel and the staff were very nice.
Too far away from the center of town and the surroundings were only furniture stores.

Santo Santiago is a lovely authentically Mexican hotel with modern comforts. Our room overlooked a beautiful courtyard which was perfect for enjoying our coffee in the morning and relaxing in the evening. We will stay there whenever we are near Tonala MX. The staff was attentive, helpful, and friendly.
