Great location and friendly staff. Breakfast was fresh and hot, large outdoor areas and perfect for dogs. Only thing was room hard to get to with luggage top floor.

Loved the history and view from our room, breakfast was amazing, staff were outstanding. Poor water pressure in the shower, pub noise can be very noisy. I would look for a quiter place next time.

Nice central hotel, lovely staff, comfy room, excellent breakfast and plenty of selection. Room overlooked the churchyard. Hotel is a bit dated but otherwise comfortable and clean.

Overall good experience except for the WiFi that didn't work. I was told it doesn't work with Samsung phones

It was good enough. Mattress could’ve been comfier, floors could’ve been vacuumed better. Furnishings were aged. With some minor investments, could’ve been an overall 4 star.

Lovely hotel, nice and clean. Staff very friendly and catered very well for allergies. Food was delicious (would highly recommend the lamb shank)

Over priced hostel not hotel ,dated room, dated bathroom, water from tap was stronger than shower…. How they can charge £110 a night I’m amazed

We really enjoyed our stay at the Hand Hotel. It’s a very comfortable hotel with friendly helpful staff. The location and the view over the river Dee are excellent and we loved the riverside patio area. We will return

Excellent. But Llangollen rather run-down compared with ten years ago

The bed really needed the mattress replaced as it was lumpy and uneven.
The room was OK, and breakfast was included.

We only stayed the one night and it was a very good stay, requested a river view and we got one. Breakfast was very good and really enjoyed it.

Lovely little hotel overlooking the river in the centre of Llangollen. Staff are very welcoming and the rooms are good with comfortable beds. The en-suite bathroom was quite small though and in need of updating but everywhere was clean. The only real issue was the draughty windows that didn’t close properly and the room was quite cold but an extra electric radiator was in our room and worked well at warming us up. Breakfast was lovely with a great choice of good quality food. Would definitely return.

Our bedroom was small and very dated. We thought it felt shoehorned in, but it was very clean. The bar area was lovely. Breakfast was excellent although the tea was cold. Staff were all very friendly and helpful.

Great breakfast.
We booked this hotel as there was a restaurant and as it was a Monday night we were certain of getting a meal. Unfortunately the kitchen was closed and we were reduced to a Coop sandwich. They had our email so could have informed us in advance so we could have made alternative arrangements. Shame as otherwise very good

Very traditional hotel - not spoilt by big modern ‘improvements’. Staff efficient and friendly. Fantastic location for the view and local facilities which were exceptionally good.

Good historic hotel. Lots of quirky features. Evening meal and breakfast very tasty. Nice views of the river Dee.

The Hand is an interesting old building in a lovely setting in the town by the river.Breakfast was good, plentiful with a good selection of hot and cold options. The staff were helpful and courteous. The family room we booked for 1 night was clean and had all the basics but was definitely in need of updating. We would have appreciated a pack of biscuits to accompany the generous supply of drinks. The bathroom would benefit from modernising.A shower over the bath with a curtain feels a little basic these days. We found our room overlooking the courtyard at the back was noisy in the morning when cleaning began at about 5am so our sleep was quite disturbed.Maybe rooms at the front or church side would be better.
All things considered the Hand is a bit overpriced but is ok for an overnight stay and choose a room at the quiet side.

Lovely hotel in an excellent location. Our room overlooked the River Dee so was a quiet room. There is a lovely beer garden overlooking the river which we were able to make use of. The staff were friendly and helpful. We also had 2 good evening meals at the hotel. The food was excellent but the service was slow on the Friday evening.

This is a 17th century hotel so obviously it’s very old but this adds to its charm. The staff were very polite and helpful and the food was good and plenty of it.

Stayed at The Hand when canoeing the Aquaduct. Hotel was comfortable and cheerful. The staff were great and the food good.

Room was comfortable although perhaps looking a little tired and unloved. Hotel was very convenient with excellent parking facilities. Breakfast was very good and staff were on the whole very helpful. The major feature for this hotel is the outdoor drinks/food area at the front over looking the river and a delightful garden. Well done Hand Hotel!

We had a 5 day trip to North Wales and stayed at 3 different places. The Hand Hotel was the most expensive, with us paying for a premier room with a river view. Our experience was very disappointing. Room was a nice size and the river view was great, but felt the pictures shown as part of the booking process were misleading 9staying in room 59). I did not expect the wash basin to be in the room, the bed was very uncomfortable, no water of biscuits and the room could have been cleaner. The WiFi did not cover the room (you had to go down corridor) and as Sunday night we ate in and I had the roast beef, but was very poor (think it had been plated earlier and warmed in microwave). We felt for what we had paid, by comparison to our previous stays it was well over priced.

Excellent location -- all of Llangollen was within easy walking distance. The hotel was clean and well cared for. Full English breakfast was much appreciated.
We were there during warm weather. As is the norm in this part of the world, there was no A/C. The ground floor of the hotel was comfortable, but one floor higher felt 10 degrees C (20 degrees F) hotter. There didn't seem to be ventilation to allow the hot air to escape upward and out. Our room had one large window that only opened about 3" at the bottom, so virtually no ventilation within the room. The limited opening was probably to keep people from falling out, but it would have had bars on the window and allow it to open fully. This was a significant discomfort for us but shouldn't be an issue during cooler weather. The bed was quite uncomfortable. Were it not for those two issues, the hotel would have been a grand experience, but since the main reason we were there was for a good night's rest, the stay was not pleasant.

An older style hotel with the tradition and comfort that brings to mind the many famous guests who stayed in the past when, perhaps, it was more luxurious than now. We enjoyed the quiet comfort of the bar with the opportunity for chatting to other guests. We stayed Wednesday and Thursday nights.
3.0
I just do not think the hotel is worth the money, as the room was tired and needed a real good upgrade to warrant a charge of £120 per night.
