About this cottage rental
The "Twiglet", is part of the Nature Energy Centre, home of the multi award winning "Hoblet". The twiglet is a totally private and separate unit from the existing Hoblet, yet guests will be able to experience all the rescues and adopted horses, alpacas, miniature goats and many other farm animals residing within our beautiful wooded property.
The Twiglet is unique, a tiny house, modern, new and nestled in the forest. 400 square feet of indoor and outdoor living area, 3 glass doors opening to the patio deck which leads you to your own fire bowl (manufactured fire logs/bricks ONLY). Two more private deck areas all with furnishings for lounging or viewing, or just "chillin" out.
Surrounded by pine trees and forest, not to mention the goats nearby. The outdoor living area has a small propane barbeque all housed in a separate outdoor cooking barzebo.
One of the highlights of the Twiglet is the wonderful bedroom, over 100 square feet, queen bed, sitting area and a full glass corner, floor to ceiling looking onto the lovely Dragonfly pond and garden. The bedroom even has its own door walking out onto the third deck patio area. A morning coffee, some time for a great book, or just watching the goldfish makes for a truly zen experience. Two functioning windows as well as a ceiling fan, and closet complete the modern, crisp romantic bedroom.
The full bathroom includes, sink, cabinet and shower with a high end "rainshower" bar, a skylight above gives wonderful light and height to this modern bathroom, as well as a little window over the toilet area.
The open concept living room/kitchen, and the entire interior is done in a modern clean "industrial" look, exposed rafters and silver conduit electrical. A 40 gallon hot water heater, TV and DVD, as well as a modern kitchenette.
Total of six windows for tons of light and views of the forest and those infamous horses, goats and alpacas!
The kitchenette area has a small fridge (tiny freezer in it), microwave, toaster oven, and two induction cooking hot plates, with the appropriate cookware included. Toaster, kettle and coffeemaker are included as are dishes, flatware, utensils etc..
The living room/sitting area has TV and DVD player with movies provided.
Though the "twiglet" is part of Nature Energy Centre, it is its own entity, with its own parking and situated on opposite ends of the property from the "Hoblet". (Please refer to our listing of the Hoblet, award winning for over 12 years). Privacy for all (including ourselves, lol).
Whether you are travelling from abroad, a week long vacation or just getting away from the city for a weekend, or perhaps considering life in a "tiny house" - the Twiglet is a perfect getaway. Fifteen minutes from the brink of the falls, in the heart of the Niagara Peninsula and part of the working sanctuary we provide for rescued critters. Guests can make reservations for a "meet and greet" and "hands on time" with the animals. The alpacas, horses and the goats all have their own personality and love to interact with our guests.
Whether you choose the "Twiglet" or the "Hoblet", our attention to detail and providing a mixture of back to nature energy with the comforts of home is always our priority. Revenue from the "Twiglet" and the "Hoblet" rentals have helped to provide a new beginning and wonderful life for the creatures that call Nature Energy home now. We look forward to welcoming you and continuing our passion with our beloved animals.
Come and enjoy what nature has to offer and the energy the love of animals can provide.

The twiglet provided a window to the animals on the property and the perfect place to curl up and read a good book! It was a short drive to the falls and also provided a nice respite from all the action of clifton hill. Would stay again!

Animals at the location were nice….goats, ducks, lamas. Property is filled with animal stalls, very dirty, expectedly. The accommodations are right next to the animals, mice, ants, spiders present, and the building seemed pieced together with whatever. I will say that the people there are very kind. Limited water available. A bit too close to the animals.

Some things were wonderful. Patio outside the bedroom and the window view were lovely. A tiny oasis. Bed was very comfortable. We had everything we needed for a secluded time away. That said everything was just a little less than desirable and we are not hard to please guests. It seems like no one prepared for our visit. Dirty dishwater left in the sink, microwave not cleaned, overgrowth and random items placed around the property unlike the pictures, doors don't open and close securely, out of date instructions, and apparently we were expected to clean and set-up the outdoor spaces ourselves. Would it deter us from returning? No. Could it be nicer? Cleaner? More inviting? Yes. It's a tad neglected and a bit pell mell.

My husband and I had a great stay at The Twiglet. We enjoyed getting back to nature and visiting with the neighborly goats and other critters!

Enjoyable stay.

We only stayed one night at the hoblet on the way up to Lake Ontario, but we had a great time! Dawn is so nice and accommodating, the place was great, we absolutely loved petting the goats and all the farm animals. Would definitely come back again!❤️

This was the absolute perfect stay from the easy check in, coziest cabin, fun with farm animals, and incredible communication from hosts! We felt out in the country while also having access to everything within 15 minutes! It was perfect, we would 10/10 recommend and come again! Thank you!

Property was very clean, well decorated, and close to Niagara while still being remote. Animals were fun to be around, and Dawn was very friendly and attentive.

If you love animals then come here. I've never stared so deep into an alpacas eyes with it, at least what seemed, like it was smiling back at me lol. The cabin was cosy and suited all needs. We would definitely recommend.

Enjoyed it all. Host was friendly and very helpful. Didn’t realize how much wine was in the area. Easy drive to Niagara. The worst thing was the alpaca that sneezed on me lol. I would recommend to anyone looking for a romantic and comfy get away!!! If there weren’t so many other places I want to go we would go back next year.

The Twiglet was super cute and we really enjoyed our stay. Dawn, the host, was really nice and the goats were so fun! …Would definitely recommend a stay if you enjoy animals and a unique little place to unplug from technology.

Animals great, didn’t get a tour of the place. Could not sit on deck area dirty, musty and lots of mould. My clothes, suitcase and car smells of mould. The animals look healthy, god bless, but would not go back. Best of luck Dawn, I know rain does not help, which we had a lot of rain. 🙁😊

This was a fun time having a goat greeting and so many animals to adore.
Well-kept tiny house - very peaceful and quiet. All you can do is relax with no internet service.
A great experience

This was a wonderful, unique accommodation. A completely different experience from my usual business travel. Unplugged evenings, animals yo say hello to, trickling water features. Tiny house relaxation.

Typically during our anniversary we are already on a family vacation. This year we decided to do a stay just the two of us. My husband and I had the best time this trip!! We didn’t have a ton of time to spend on the sanctuary due to things my husband had planned out for us. But, the time we did get to spend there was wonderful. It’s peaceful at night. Miss Wanda will visit you. I got to meet so many goats, even had to put some escapees back in their pin Lolol!! They were the sweetest! I definitely recommend staying here with your spouse/significant other! It’s romantic in so many ways! I wanna go back for sure!!

Every inch of the property is absolutely beautiful and staying so close to all of the animals was magical. Dawn is the kindest BNB host I’ve ever met as well and makes you feel at home here. You can walk around the conservatory freely and visit and/or feed the animals whenever you want. My girlfriend and I ended up booking an extra day here because we loved it so much. Can’t recommend it enough

We had a great time staying in the Twiglet! What a cute and cozy cabin! And staying around the animals was an extra treat… we loved saying hello to all the goats, alpaca, and ducks with special appearances by the farm dogs and cat. Dawn was great too! Easy to communicate with and clear easy instructions for checking in. The Twiglet was the perfect peaceful oasis after a busy day exploring to Niagara Falls area. Would love to come back again!

It was a kick interacting with all the animals. The little house was private and had all the amenities you’d ever need. Very clean.

The Twiglet was a great spot for a long weekend getaway. Only 15 minute drive to Niagara Falls. Located on an animal sanctuary- we could feed and pet the animals (goats, alpacas, horses, donkey, turkeys, and ducks). This “tiny home” was a perfect couples retreat!

This stay was extremely magical! Cute, quaint little cottage was such a little gem! It felt super remote but very close to everything. The animals were icing on the cake! We loved the dogs and the cat that would come to the door…we loved having visitors everyday! The host was very helpful and kind! We will definitely be back again!

We had a great 2 night stay at this property. The tiny house is a perfect spot to relax and enjoy the surroundings. And those surroundings include many goats, alpacas, ducks and cute dogs. The house has everything you need and is clean and comfortable. Dawn was friendly and quick to answer any questions we had. She introduced us to the animals on the property and we had fun feeding them during our time there. Coming back after our daily travels we were always greeted by many bleats and baas :) We highly recommend staying here for a change of pace from your usual accommodations.

What a gem! A little getaway hidden in wine country surrounded by sanctuary animals (mostly in their own penned areas). Offering easy access to the region’s amenities with a car, this little (and they mean little) home has what one needs to take care of themselves. Heat, electricity, water, own mini kitchen w mini appliances and a mini bathroom and a mini bedroom with a queen-sized bed.
(It might be a touch tricky for anyone with mobility issues to navigate, but it isn’t a challenging landscape to traverse.)
The hosts are friendly and helpful and are doing great work with the animals (the animals you can meet and pet!).
A great and eccentric accommodation for great, eccentric people like me. ;)

Favorite part of our day was hanging out with the goats, donkeys, and pigs! Loved how close we were to the Falls as well as other cool sites like Balls Falls, Niagara on the Lake, etc. Wonderful vacation with great hosts!

We had a terrible day leading up to our stay. Petra was very understanding and made us feel right at home as soon as we arrived. Her and her husband are just wonderful loving people, can't speak highly enough about them. The property is gorgeous and enough out of the way for the perfect peaceful time, yet close enough to Niagara and surrounding areas to go do shopping etc. The hoblet that we stayed in is beautiful and charming. The sauna was an added bonus that I desperately needed. All the animals are the cherry on top. All of them are very sweet and endearing . We got to have many special moments with all of them. Plus they are all rescues and are beyond loved and taken care of. Perfect place of a fresh new start. Thank you again to our gracious hosts. We will definitely return.

This was a surprise getaway for my wife. She has always wanted to stay in a cabin in the woods, but neither of us are truly outdoorsy. We like to be close to more urban areas for restaurants etc. The location was perfect. It was rural but close enough to tourist areas, if need be. My wife crossed off a bucket list item on this trip.
Our hosts were warm and welcoming. We were introduced to the sanctuary animals and were trusted to feed the goldfish. We could have also fed the donkeys, pigs and goats with a diet specifically designed for them. The hosts were a text or phone call away, if needed.
Because there are animals running through the grounds, it is vitally important to close the gate when you enter or leave the property. To make this as easy as possible, there is a remote for this action.....just like a garage door opener.
There are two rentals on the grounds, both offer a rustic experience in very unique and charming ways. One is smaller than the other and positioned in such a way that you do not notice eachother.
One of the donkeys is a bit of a media icon. He has starred in Murdock Mysteries and an upcoming movie penned by Dan Brown (Angels & Demons). We would have liked to have known if he was a member of the ACTRA union.
This was a wonderful few days experiencing Niagara region in a very different way. There is a convenience store that sells pizza (not on Mondays) and the Niagara Parkway that will take you along a very scenic route.
As an important note, the funds from the rental properties go to the animal sanctuary, enabling animal rescues and thier upkeep onced saved from their various fates.

I was welcomed at the gate by owner Petra and we immediately hit it off, with much laughter, as I recounted my navigation (or lack of) skills during my drive from points west. There was a quick tour of the grounds enroute to the Hoblet, with introductions to Mush, the very friendly dogs and the other animals along the way. There were no surprises, everything was as described, except the ambiance...that's hard to put into words. I chose this location for R and R purposes and it met all my expectations. Solitude, when I wanted it; a chat with Petra at feeding time. I will definitely be back.

Amazing, quaint spot for a relaxing getaway. Petra is so welcoming and genuine and obviously loves all her rescued animals. My daughter and I were in our element!

There really are no words that describe our experience. Peaceful, welcoming, calming, joyful. Our main attraction was supposed to be the falls, but our time with the animals at the Hoblet was second to none.It became the main attraction. We felt honoured to have the opportunity to stay here. Slightly off grid/rustic. A beautiful place to unwind after being a tourist.

My husband and I stayed at the Hoblet for three nights. It rained basically the whole time we were there :-) it really made no difference to our trip at all except that the poor donkeys had to go to higher ground so when I went to bring them their apples and carrots they were gone :-) because of the beautiful patio we could sit out while it was raining. The pigs and dogs came to visit us every day. You really don’t realize how much TV you watch until you don’t have TV and the news. It was great!!! We watched a couple movies that we had never seen or heard of and were really good :-) Petra told us about a wood-fired pizza place that was close by - we got one and it was delicious. Had a sauna in the Hoblet - I know I am just listing things…saw a hummingbird up close, brushed and fed pigs, saw a goat climb up into a big tree stump… it was just fun and quirky and different :-) Petra and Mush were amazing hosts and just really nice people. I would highly recommend the Hoblet for some peace and quiet in a really cool secret hideaway :-)

A few surprise critters and loved feeding the group. They sure enjoy their apples and carrots. A nice getaway that is not too far from home. If you use Google maps- don't be fooled, take the route off of 406 through Welland, much faster than the Niagara route.

We had a wonderful stay at the Hoblet and loved being able to hang out with the pigs, goats, donkeys, and pups! The fire pit was amazing too! Petra was very accomodating and great with communication, making our stay completely worry free. All the recommendations for local activities and dining were spot on and much appreciated. If you're looking for a relaxing getaway with the added bonus of a chance to interact with some the friendliest pigs and goats you'll every meet, we can't recommend this place enough! Many thanks to Petra, Mush, and the 4-legged gang!
