About this cottage rental
Underbow Cottage is situated inside Dartmoor National Park. It is a detached property on the far end of a quiet, dead end lane. Previously, it was a five bedroom, former coach house. In 2015 it was lovingly restored by an interior designer. The latest photos are from spring 2019, so it's kept to a high standard. However, it's still quirky and full of character. It was changed to a three bedroom with three ensuite bathrooms. Hence, it's spacious, and light whilst allowing everyone privacy. The view from the top floor across Dartmoor is stunning!
There are three bedrooms -two rooms with kingsize beds and a twin room with two single beds. All the beds are fully made up with 100% luxury cotton waffle duvets and white fluffy towels.
In the solid wooden kitchen there's everything you need including a new large Rangemaster (Aga) cooker(7 ring gas hob/2 fan ovens) and masses of John Lewis crockery, glasswear and cutlery. The kitchen is well stocked with all sorts of kitchenware to make cooking easy.
The sitting room has a wood burning stove to pump out masses of heat and there's full gas central heating radiators throughout the rooms, so everywhere is inviting and cosy. There is wi fi throughout and four flat screen televisions (two with integrated DVD players) in the house. It has been filled with masses of books, DVD's, puzzles, board games and toys. There's even a set of train tracks, a wooden farm, and doll's house in the top floor cupboard.
Underbow has its own first floor, sunny south facing, fenced garden. It's not overlooked and has stunning views over Dartmoor. It is located at the end of an extremely peaceful, private lane but is only 200 metres from Moretonhampstead's centre.
Parking is a premium in Moreton but Underbow has ample private parking for two cars, three at a push, as you tumble out the front door. Well behaved dogs will be considered only if requested on booking. There are plenty of circular walks straight from the door.
Underbow's central location, in the bustling working village of Moretonhampstead, belies its quiet location. If you fancy eating out there are lots of cafes, restaurants and pubs to choose from. If you want an indulgent treat Bovey Castle or Gidleigh Park are only a few miles away. Moreton has a supermarket, tourist information centre, chemist, pottery, hand-made shoe shop "Green Shoes", car museum and art gallery "Green Hill" - all less than 300 metres away from the cottage. Most importantly Dartmoor National Park is on your doorstep. If the sun is out Moreton's open air swimming pool is right there. There's so much to do for an enormous range of tastes and of course the Information Centre is right there if you need any help.

Guests raved about the spotlessly clean, well-furnished cottage with comfortable rooms, great location, and welcoming hosts. Everything was immaculately presented and fully equipped for a perfect stay.

We had a wonderful stay at this spotlessly clean house with very comfortable rooms. Plenty of room for our two teens to escape to their own space when not on beautiful walks in the area. Our host Louisa was so helpful with recommendations and very generous with logs, milk, eggs and delicious lemon cake! Really hope to be back again, it was difficult to leave! Thank you for a fabulous stay.

Amazing cottage! We've stayed in many self catering cottages/barns and this is the best by far. Everything you could possibly want, even cotton buds and pads were supplied! The gorgeous smell of the reed diffusers around the property was so welcoming and highlights the cleanliness of the property. Great location in the heart of a quiet village. Plenty of attractions around 30-60 minute drive away. Would love to stay again.

Home from home
An endearing cottage in a welcoming town on the edge of Dartmoor. Great place for adults and dogs. The cottage has everything you might want, including sharp knives, comfort, and a wonderful Harry Potter convenience under the stairs. We enjoyed the food at the Hart and the Union pubs. Have a good appetite before you go. Make sure you have the ice cream and visit the butcher - pies recommended. Dartmoor gin is made here and generously a bottle was placed in the cottage for us. Such fantastic hosts. Thank you

Beautiful cottage in lovely location
This has possibly been one of my favourite rentals in Devon. The cottage was immaculately presented and fully equipped for all your needs. Lovely views from the bedrooms and comfortable beds.
We were a party of two teens, 2 adults, a dog and 2 elderly parents. Having our own bathrooms was brilliant as well as a downstairs toilet - very useful. The kitchen was well equipped, although we ate out most of the time. Only a short walk into the village where there is a handy Co Op and a pub serving good food, including a great Sunday roast, yet the property itself is down a very quiet little lane.
5 star!

Lovely cottage in a good location. Well equipped and comfortable. Lots to do in and around the area including walking and cycling. We enjoyed Berto’s Italian, the White Hart and Cross St cafe. We were looking forward to sitting out in the garden on the rattan furniture and on arrival was disappointed to see the rattan furniture had been replaced with wooden bench seating. It would have been useful if a garden parasol was provided.Under facilities on the website it says milk, farm eggs and a cake will welcome you. Sadly none of these items were provided.

Went with my husband, daughter & son in law, their 3 year old and baby. The layout worked brilliantly. Having the upstairs as our chill out zone. Daughter and family on 1st floor with the children twin room near was perfect. Having village shops and pubs on doorstep perfect and also playground and walks. Fingle Inn and Teign walk a must. Absolutely gorgeous.

A nice cottage in a nice village in beautiful surroundings
This cottage surpassed our expectations. Clean and well equipped in every respect. Only exception was the lightning in the livingroom. We had to buy ourselves two bulbs for the lamps. Also one bed lamp failed in the master bedroom (out of order).
The property is well situated in the center of Moretonhampstead. I will be glad to recommend it to friends.

Perfect home for a holiday!
I don't even know how I can start singing praises for Underbow Cottage.
Location : Moretonhampstead is an ideal location for exploring the Dartmoor National Park. It is a cosy village, with a good range of shops, and I personally find it the perfect number. The cottage is situated in a quiet private lane, but just walk out and in less than 2 minutes, shops are within reach. The Co-op has a really good selection. I love the Union Inn which is a cosy village tavern, and the tea room with its friendly owner (she showed me her collection of tablewares and shared with me the history).
The Cottage : I can go crazy over the cottage! So cosy and beautiful! It is so well laid out, and so spacious. The kitchen has everything, and I mean EVERTYHING for a cook. I have never seen a holiday rental with such amazing range of cooking utensils, cookware, and bakeware. One can cook and bake everything one desires in the kitchen! We had a blast cooking and baking away.
The rooms are very spacious, and each has a big attached bathroom. In fact, the top floor bathroom can squeeze in a single bed! The beds and beddings provided are extremely comfortable too. I have never slept so well all my life. The views from the windows ( top floor especially) blew my mind away. Rolling hills and all the greens. On a quiet evening, I heard the sheep bleating from the distant hill.
The living room/hall is another fabulous hangout place with the big TV and cosy fireplace. I spent many happy hours knitting on the sofa.
Hosts : Kimberly and Nicki (who helps her manage) . were extremely easy to communicate and very fast in responding to questions and render help. Moretonhampstead had a power failure first 2 nights we were at the cottage, and both Kimberly and Nicki offered their help so quickly. It was such a pleasure to have them as hosts.
Overall: Perfect Perfect Perfect! I can't think of any other word to describe Underbow Cottage. On my last day at the cottage when packing up, I broke down in tears because I can't bear to leave the cottage. You must think me crazy, but I even gave the little dog, chicken, and bunny door stoppers a pat before leaving. I am so in love with the cottage.
P/s : If Kimberly decides to sell the cottage ( or any of your neighbours along same lane), could I be the first one you inform?
