The hotel is not where is says it is on Hotel.com - it is 1km out of Llagollen, so very difficult if you don't have a car.
Staff were not hospitable, almost surprised I was there and gave little to no information about the hotel and services. Have to order breakfast the night before, if you can find any staff to order it.
3.2
The hotel is a bit out of town and very peaceful. Lovely view of the hills.
Checkin was friendly and welcoming. Room was rather bland and slightly 1970s, but clean and well kept. Most importantly it was warm a comfortable and I got a good night’s sleep.
The bar closed very early which was a shame as I’d arranged to meet a friend at 9pm but by then all was in darkness.
I would have liked to try the £10 breakfast but had already arranged to eat elsewhere.
All in all, a good value stay in a beautiful location. I’d be very happy to return.
3.2
Very tired, in need of some serious investment. Staff could do with some friendliness training

I genuinely wish we’d kept driving.
We were welcomed by a “lovely” lady who didn’t seem thrilled that we had booked so late even when I told her we’d been stuck on the road for hours. She proceeded to tell my kids to pipe down for giggling.
The room was covered in little hairs and was a little grim and loving the woodchip. All we could hear was next doors tv blaring until about 2pm and really loud laughing. Couldn’t even cover the noise as our tv didn’t work.
And oh my gosh I have never “not slept” in a bed with a mattress and pillows that were more like rocks in my life.
Definitely not a place i would repeat, the campsite opposite looked lovely if you were looking for a place to stay.
3.2
Meals are all homemade and fresh. Needs the breakfast to be included in price of the room.
3.2
setting is magnificent, nice choice for breakfast, nut no cereal as advertised. old fashioned rooms but clean and comfortable. a vert pleasant stay
3.2
This hotel has a great view (over the ample car park) of hills and forests. The hotel has solar panels and brews beer.
Room 8 was very pleasant; looked recently decorated - somewhat quirky but I prefer that. Breakfast was great; really good scrambled eggs & mushrooms.
3.2
Lovely room, 4-poster bed with a good sized on-suite. Amazing views of the mountains.
3.2
A lovely hotel in a great location. Friendly helpful staff. Beautiful hot home cooked food and a lovely breakfast.

The whole appearance was of a hotel that was closing down. There was nobody at reception. The man that was tending the gardens opened the door and let us in telling us the keys were on the desk.
There were two bars, both locked. In one there was a sign saying to use the other bar as this one is not in use.
It appeared that the place had been in this state for some time!!
We had booked bed and breakfast (inclusive) but were told they were not doing food. He said he could arrange breakfast at a cost of £10 each!!
He was extremely incommunicative and unhelpful.
There was a sign on the back of the door saying that there was no room service if you were staying more than one day. It also told us that there was extra tea/coffee/milk on a table in reception. There wasn't.
The heat in reception was like that in a sauna, and the lighting was never on.
The rooms were very tired with work needing doing to them.
It was a most unenjoyable experience and I feel that we have been lured there under false pretences.
I won't be going back again and will consider not using Hotels.com again.
If anybody was asking whether to use the Abbey Grange Hotel I would advise them to find somewhere else.

Most positive comment I can say is, the water was hot..
Bed was Way too soft :-(, pillows hard, carpet sticky, when kettle boils it steams the tv, no reception as such - just a row of keys with names written on paper under them. The bar looked like a cross between deliverance, an old folks home and someone's front room. Place looked kinda derelict as we drove up to it. WiFi was also slower than dial up.
But there was plenty of hot water for a bath, so not all bad.
Needless to say, wont be going back soon..

Rated as 3 star. I arrived and there was a note with my room number and a key. I rang the hotel to see whether I could book dinner and breakfast the following morning. I was abruptly told no, it was room only, albeit there was a sign at the hotel entrance advertising breakfast. There wasn’t even a bar there. The room was adequate, but in dire need of an update. However, the lack of any amenities makes me question the 3 star rating and why Expedia have listed this misleading description on their website. I book all my trips with Expedia and have never had any problems until this week.

It is the second time in a couple of weeks that I stayed here. Checking in and out simple and fast. Staff very friendly. I stayed in two different rooms and both were clean and comfortable. Tv and Wi Fi reception also very good. I would go back againg.
3.2
ok, bit dated but great and quiet location
3.2
Scratchy towel, I had to figure out everything for my self because nobody was there to check me in or out! I saw no hotel personnel my entire stay. Stay away!!!
3.2
Everything was closed when we got there 8pm, the bar, restaurant and reception. The person there didn’t seem very interested in even dealing with us. Signs everywhere telling us what we could not do. No food in the rooms, good job we had stopped and got some food, which we took to our room, regardless on the 6 or more signs forbidding this practice. As I said every thing was closed. Decor was as old and very tired. The bed was so hard it was like trying to sleep on a snooker table. The hot water was lukewarm. The best thing I can say is it seemed to be clean.
3.2
Tired and dated property, staff/owners seemed very uninterested. I had a meal which wasn’t bad. Morning shower was Luke warm after running for over 10 minutes, very thin mattress and cheap bed frame, not a great nights sleep. Room rate was cheap but I’d rather spend a bit more and get better standards and service.
3.2
Good location with plenty of walks.
3.2
Poor check in services hallways and room was unkept, food and drink options were severely limited. Overall unsatisfactory experience. We checked out before the night ended and went to a premier inn.
3.2
Just one night. Arrived late and left early, but felt very comfortable and had a great night’s sleep. Beautiful rural location.
3.2
Abbey Grange is a tired hotel / B&B, but OK for a short stopover. It is not in Llangollen, the map for the property is incorrect. it is on the road to the Horseshoe Pass. A good 45 min walk to the town. Staff were nice and the food good. Nice green setting fir a quiet stay.

I arrived very late, approx 10.30pm i think but did call twice to explain - i was in an uktra bike race from France thst went through Llangollen. I asked for a quick snack or food but was almost laughed at. I was allowed to buy a bag of crisps.
I needed to charge my cycling computer and asked to borrow a plug sat on the bar but was, no.
Room was dirty and full of flies and midges.
No breakfast either so when i left i was starving.
The owners don't sleep there so it's more like a hostel. I rarely complain and have never completed an App Q, bu this is the worst hotel ive ever stayed at
3.2
Poor service and services. Room untidy and dirty. Bathroom dirty with 1950’s decor. Hotel closed on arrival. Bar and restaurant closed at 20.00 hrs. Hotel locked at 21.00 hrs. No exit available in case of emergency doors locked until 08.00 next morning. Room was poorly decorated with only one power socket. It was also extremely warm in the room making it hard to sleep. Beds were uncomfortable and creaky. All in all very poor. Definitely not four star as described probably only one star. Will never stay there again. Surprised that Hotels .com rated it as four star.
3.2
Water pressure in shower needs fixing. No room service during 5 night stay. Memory has left the memory foam mattress. Only saw staff at bar. No on there at check out. Clean on check in
3.2
Quite and not too far from Llangollen.
3.2
4 poster bed ,choice of pillows
3.2
Stains on bedding and towels
Had a shower in the morning and there was no hot water so i ran a bath and had to use water from the kettle but the plug didnt hold water in. Not impressed that i couldnt have a warm shower or even run a full bath. Properth wasnt in good condition, room was constantly cold and the wallpaper was pealing on serval walls in the room. Also we had a 4 poster bed but the curtains/dress to go over the bed was srunched up in the wardrobe and not over the bed which was disappointing.
3.2
Landlady was not very friendly and abrupt
Room was old fashioned and cold
Hotel .com said food was available but it was not
Four poster bed was comfortable
3.2
Perfect location for cycling up the Old Shoe, the Horseshoe Pass and along the river to Horseshoe Falls. Quiet except for the local cows gently moo-ing. I was surprised that breakfast was not available but Llangollen itself had a delightful cafe for breakfast that also had a second-hand bookshop attached. Notices said: no food in the rooms. Lots of tea and coffee available.
3.2
AVOID!!!! this is the worst hotel experience ever, and i had a lot.
I was looking for a hotel in city center, it was listed with a 0.03 miles distance but it is actually in the middle of nowhere (GPS stated 6 miles)
Very rude staff (landlady?) told me it was 2 miles, easy walkable (it is not - no pathway) when i pointed out the 0.03 miles she said "what does it mean in plain english" maybe as the crow flies?!
told her this was not what i booked and demanded my money back. did not get it back ....did NOT stay there !
Will take it further.... this is not the end ....
unfortunately hotels.com was not helpful either :(
3.2
Staff were very unfriendly and i certainly didnt feel welcome here despite my efforts to make conversation with them. Not sure what was wrong but i certainly wouldnt stay here again. Its a shame as itcwas a lovely lication to stay.
3.2
A return visit for us as we use this beautiful area of wales regular
We stay here multiple times as it’s an ideal location in the valley of the horseshoe pass with stunning views peaceful but close to Llangollen and Wrexham if required
We ate here and had samples of the home made beers from the owners micro brewery which operates adjacent to the hotel
The owners made us as ever feel extremely welcome and nothing was to much trouble
The Sunday carvery is excellent and I recommend that
All in all lovely stay we shall be back
3.2
Beautiful place for weekend way wee been working our self
but I like to come back for weekend way lovely spot
3.2
Requires throughout cleaning. Everything in the room was stained (assume by bed bugs), the fear of them ruined the night and the next day, still hope I haven't brought one home.
3.2
Unwelcoming upon arrival, tried to argue over the booking despite having proof of what we had booked. The room was freezing cold all night.
Lovely outside view and surrounding around but that’s all
3.2
Staff were accomodating. Room was very clean and warm
3.2
Arrived to be told breakfast is not included even though booking said it was.
Room was clean but creaking floor and rattling doors
Room was hot with no way to turn heating down so leaving window open was required.
Tv was small but room was large and bed ok
For price I paid ok but more suitable for workman than tourism.
3.2
Arrived after midnight. The room was spacious and clean. The beds were soft how we like it.
3.2
I hate to leave a poor review, but I have to be honest.
Beautiful location in rural Wales.
However most of the building was closed off downstairs, the lady behind the bar was not the nicest person.
There weelre storage boxes and packaging within the passage ways.
On arrival at 6pm it took 20mins to be noticed to check in. To be informed the bar closes at 8pm along with food and the hotel will lock down.
All lights were turned off unless you walked in to a room, with the lights turned off behind you.
My room was clean apart from a part drunken can of carling left on the beside.
The cleaner had just been in the room as was still on the floor however could not be found. Even if you followed the trail of cleaning products left in the corridors.
Please do yourself a favour and avoid. There are much better places
3.2
The property was set in lovely location and the room was comfortable and had everything required. We thought breakfast was included on the site booked with but assume due to corona this was not the case. We had a lovely meal at night. Would recommend this place if staying in langollen.
