Beautiful space and great location. Outstanding communication. Would definitely stay here again!

Nicely appointed unit in a convenient location to getting into town for food/drink. Clear communication throughout the process. Would definitely stay here again!

The Rainbow Loft is a hidden gem in Hilo! Very close to downtown Hilo, Rainbow Falls and other trails. We appreciated how clean the place was, as well as the wonderful amenities (washer/dryer, luggage racks, coffee, etc.). It is within walking distance to local businesses, though we felt more comfortable driving.
Thank you Steven for a wonderful stay!

Enjoyable and cosy. Weather challenging for the first few days.

A great property right in the heart of Hilo. Easy to walk to local shops and restaurants. Easy to find, very clean, and the owners were fantastic to work with. Would stay here again in a heartbeat.

We had a great time in Hilo and the central location to all our activities made this place a great choice for our family! It's an easy walk to a lot of restaurants and shops, and a short drive to a number of Big Island sites like Rainbow Falls and Akaka Falls State Park.
Check-in/out was easy and the hosts were responsive when we had questions (the laundry wasn't immediately visible but it was easy to find once we got the host's note).

Exactly as pictured! My teens loved the decor. Very responsive owners. Use the provided snorkeling gear and go to Richardson Beach!

The Rainbow Loft felt like a lovely combination of straightforward / modern decor with just a few very intentional highlights around the rainbow theme. Not distracting or "trying too hard", I appreciated the very functional approach. Perfect for a two or three day stay, with a longer stay we might have felt a little something missing, but we were out and about so much the place suited us perfectly.
A few items of note:
1) there is no washer/dryer, despite the listing. We had planned on doing laundry during the stay there so it threw off our plans a little - not the end of the world, but be advised: no washer/dryer in the place.
* * On this note, I messaged the property manager and got no response. I get it: can't do anything about it so ultimately who cares, but still. So, again, be advised: no washer/dryer.
2) The driveway has a very sharp hill - the van we rented scraped EVERY TIME until I mastered approaching the entrance far off to the side, mounting the curb, to avoid "belly scratching" the minivan.
3) The neighborhood is not a tourist spot. Hilo itself isn't "postcard Hawaii", for that matter. Not to the point of feeling threatened or completely unsafe, but it's definitely not a resort feel.
Despite those few little gotchas, the rainbow loft was a lovely place to stay: clean, right in town, and cozy. We're glad to have stayed there during our Hawaiian adventure!

We loved this place. It had plenty of space for the 5 of us, it was in great condition, and it was decorated in a very fun way. The kitchen was also amazing, and the owners also had plenty of items for us to use on the beach (i.e. chairs, beach blankets, etc.). The neighborhood around the Rainbow Loft wasn't much to speak of, but it was in walking distance to some restaurants and grocery stores. If we ever stay in Hilo again, we would definitely choose this spot.

My daughter and I had a lovely week in the Somewhere Over the Rainbow Loft. The loft was clean, very well-equipped, and many thoughtful touches made us feel very welcome. The loft's location is great - all of downtown Hilo is within a walkable distance, and we were able to shop at the Farmers' Market and supermarkets on foot. Parking was easy, and getting to the Saddle Road was easy for our multiple trips to the Kona side. All in all, the Somewhere Over the Rainbow Loft was fantastic location for it, and we can't recommend it highly enough.

The 2 story condo was immaculately clean. This was a great location for touring different waterfalls and botanical gardens. Volcanos National Park is a 45 minute drive from condo. The upstairs had AC, down stairs could get a little warm especially if cooking was done.

This beautiful rental in the heart of downtown Hilo was well stocked and equipped for my wife, 20 year old son, and myself to enjoy our weeks vacation on the Big Island of Hawaii. Within walking distance to a variety of great shops, food, beaches, and such this was our rainbow paradise and home away from home. We traveled all over the island hiking, snorkeling, and even playing a round at each of the islands disc golf courses. Thanks to the owners for an amazing home base for our island adventures!!

This rental is perfect for two couples who want to spend time in and around Hilo. Easy walking to downtown restaurants, shopping and market. The apartment is comfy and plenty roomy for four people, and comes with all you are likely to need. Very satisfied.
Very few options like this right in Hilo, so very happy that they are on VRBO.

The property is immaculate, spacious, and has virtually anything needed for cooking, going to the beach, or just relaxing at home! The owner and all the workers are congenial and helpful. It's neighborhood living as opposed to being just another person in a big, overpriced hotel. Restaurants, grocery stores, and various attractions are within short walking distances. Would want to stay there again if we ever got to come back to the Big Island!

We had a terrific time in a clean, really well located property. The owners were very helpful and communicative. Overall an excellent rental.

This is by far the cutest and cleanest vacation rental we've used. It may not be the most scenic but the location is excellent for exploring Hilo and the surrounding area. We loved waking up in the bright space, coming home after a long day out and getting cozy on the large comfy couch and listening to the frogs at night. The beds are also really comfortable. Overall exceeded my high expectations and would love to stay longer next time! Additional nice touches were noticed and appreciated.

Doesn't look like much from the outside, but really cute & clean on the inside. the kitchen appliances are new. The owners are super nice & available. It doesn't have the nicest views, but it is within blocks of the Hilo bay farmers market & lots of other shopping, several restaurants & the ocean. Laundry (also new appliances) available onsite, which was a big plus. The frogs & birds make lots of noise, but its like those sleep sounds cds. You'll hear them even at a hotel.. The beds were super comfy. Some neat extras, too. Thanks for a great stay!

The perfect location for exploring Hilo and the Big Island. You are within walking distance to downtown, Hilo Bay, Banyon Drive and more. Approximately 10 minutes to some great beaches. It is a charming, modern beach house. As you might expect with a close-to-everything location, it’s a bit noisy. Owners are terrific, there’s plenty of room, and it’s pristine. We stayed for over 2 months—and would do it again!

The property was well cared for and comfortable. It was well equipped for cooking and conveniently located to both markets and restaurants. If you wish a nice getaway in the heart of Hilo, it is worth considering this property.

Nice little beach house. Everything was as advertised.

Newly renovated, clean with most required appliances, great location, and responsive owners. Nothing fancy but allowed our family to stay together. We look forward to staying there again.
