The attention to detail. Impeccable service, the staff was truly the best, warm and kind. Beautiful property. Amazing food. Very clean, spotless!
We chose the room with the private plunge pool, and, unfortunately for us, perhaps the worst room in the entire property. The pool is not really private, it is open to the common area, so it defeats the purpose of having a “private” plunge pool. Also, by plunge pool we mean a bathtub size “pool”, it is not really a place where you can swim at all, just seat in it. Unfortunately, this is also the closest room to the train tracks and you not only hear it very close, but the room itself shakes every time the train passes. And bear in mind, it continually passes by, all day and night. The room didn’t have windows, well, one very small and high window that you couldn’t really open as all the mosquitos would come in (didn’t have fly screen nor glass as such, just a wooden window). Same with the main room door, you couldn’t really leave it open. So basically you were trapped in a very dark stone oven (yes, the room takes ages to cool down, it was basically an oven). You couldn’t leave the bathroom door open either (which was quite small) because the only (small) window didn’t have a screen or glass, just a wooden frame. So if you would leave it open, the heat and mosquitos will get in. The staff mentioned the best rooms are at the main house. So probably try to get those.
We must add, the beach, although beautiful, is across the train tracks. It is not too far, but it is not close either…. They have a private beach team for lounge chairs and other services, but honestly, the whole thing is a bit inconvenient.

Very luxurious, the staff were very attentive and helpful.
Maybe the prices of food and drinks were a little prohibitive for us to have every day. And, of course, the railway line so close made it noisy at times but we were aware of that before arrival.

Everything! The place, the staff, the pool area, the lounge areas, the proximity to the beach, the FOOD! We were treated like royalty and we can't wait to try other properties of Taru across Sri Lanka!
Little difficult to find on Google Maps but if you speak to the manager, they'll guide you well. Its behind a government office so they can't put up too many boards to guide you.

Great food, easy access to the beach, very clean, staff was amazing and gave you privacy. very comfortable, easy to get around and wish we could've stayed longer. just amazing experience all round
nothing that really impacted our stay but I would like if they could pave the road/driveway that leads to the hotel as its not a great entry.

We loved everything about this place. It far exceeded our expectations in all respects. The Muse is very modern, stylish and comfortable. The staff went above and beyond to make our stay memorable. The food was excellent with plenty of choice.
Nothing!

Everything. Staff were Amazing & went out of their way to make sure you were enjoying your stay. They were all so happy & accommodating. I loved the quirky interior design throughout the villa. The vibe was chill, relaxing, happy, romantic, intimate, private, quiet, peaceful. The food was outstanding- breakfast & dinner. Cooking class was phenomenal 7* dish with a wonderful chef. It was exceptionally clean & comfortable. Few feet away from a beautiful private beach & staff bring you down an ice pop to cool you down :) we would definitely return!
If there's one thing it would be the entrance driving in to the villa & car park is a little messy with other buildings around it

I liked the quietness and being away from the hustle of the town.
Quietness and peacefulness.

Lovely interior design in lobby and across common areas
Good breakfast
Helpful staff
Umbrellas, towels and water set up for guests on the beach
Very close to the railway track. Trains can be loud, are more frequent in the morning and afternoons but pass by in seconds so not intolerable
Had to call for towels whilst at the beach, no set up before 9 it seems. Maybe more staff needed
We stayed in the Premium room with private terrace and still found it not as large or private

If I only had one word to describe our stay: flawless. Generally hospitality in Sri Lanka is good but this place takes it to the next level. Very friendly and professional staff. Amazing food which felt like fine dining (definitely recommend having dinner here during your stay!) - and one of the best eggs benedicts at breakfast I've ever had (along with fresh fruit, nice coffee etc). Staff helped us to arrange trips/tuktuks. Bedroom and bathroom were very big and furnished/cleaned to a high standard. Very peaceful location, lots of nice places to sit around the pool/gardens and the beach is a stones throw away.
I only wish we had stayed for more than 2 nights! Would definitely come again.

- The property is lovely, an old house with a great design, right in front of the beach and a beautiful garden. Manutention an cleaning is perfect.
- Pool has a great water temperature, you just want to stay inside all day.
- Good arrival experience, and service in general is dedicated and welcoming. The villa manager is great.
- Nice beach experience, they escort you to the beach and prepare sunbeds, beach is also one of the best in Sri Lanka.
- we asked to tour the property nearby "the long house" and we were greeted as we were guests in there, what a great experience, they offered coconut water, cold towels (by the way great property)
Even if we had a great time, we have just arrived from a previous property that made us experience the pinacle of good service. A couple of things could be improved:
- even if service is good be ready to hear some "no"s. For example when you order breakfast (a la carte) i ordered eggs and banana pancake and we were told: sorry sir, only one item.. also juice of the day was watermelon, so no other juices for breakfast.
- the food can be improved. The choice is very limited, even if i don't care to have a limited choice if everything is good. But the 4 dishes we ordered were all average. Food is very important for us, and if it was better we would have extended our stay.
Overall it was a great experience, we are not disappointed, and if they solve this minor issues they can be the best hotel in Sri Lanka

From the moment we enter Taru Villa's the service was just spot on. There was really not one thing to comment badly on.
All the little things, that makes a stay special were thought off.
From a homemade fresh popsicle at check-in, to a clerk on the beach bringing you ice cold water regularly and every single dish coming from the kitchen, if it was local or international food, was just delicious.
Not even mentioning the service at the restaurant and at the pool, it was at a Michelin Star restaurant standard.
We couldn't felt more pampered than we did during this stay.
The added weight due to all the lovely food!

Lovely and quiet, great food and amazing service. We especially liked the little touches, e.g afternoon tea and cake and an ice lolly by the pool in the afternoon.

Everything about this hotel we loved, total relaxation and the location was superb. All the staff were amazing, facilities and pool were great, we even loved the trains passing and how we had to cross the track to get to the beach which just added to this gem of a hotel.
Only slight negative was a couple of the facilities were slightly over priced. (Spa and transfer to airport)

Awesome place; staff is very friendly and helpful. Also Karu who was on the beach to support facilities there did a great job. Always smiled and asked if we needed anything else.
We were fishing and then brought the fishes to the restaurant; they made us a lovely dinner. Their chocolate mousse is highly recommendable.
