Beautiful house but disappointing guest bedroom.

The house was beautifully styled. Loved the artwork and pleasant smell in the entrance hallway. The bathroom was shared with the owner as his wash items were on the side table but the shower was good. Bedroom was a good size beautiful wood flooring and a fireplace. Lovely sash window overlooking the garden.

The room wasn't properly cleaned. The kettle had a layer of dust, the water decanter was old and the water inside did not look fresh topped off with a small fly floating in the water. The sugar cubes had damp spots and the coffee jar provided was not attractive and was also damp inside. The mugs provided were not clean. The mattress and sheets appeared clean but there was some staining on the white sheets. The divan beds were just too old and are in need of updating to a tasteful frame in keeping with the rest of the house. The surfaces had not been wiped down as we found a fingernail on the mantle. The window could do with a wipe down. There were cobwebs and the ceiling is in need of painting it resembles smoke damage. For £130 a night we expected the room to at least be clean and fresh, disappointing as we thought the house itself was beautiful. We had to book alternative accommodation.

La localisation de exceptionnelle permet de tout visiter à pied

Un hôte très accueillant dans une ambiance "so British" manifestement amateur d'art et de déco . Le parking gratuit avec le n* de plaque pour la police est un réel plus pour l'Angleterre . Les conseils pour les bonnes adresses sont à suivre en particulier le restaurant indien Ghandi le meilleur leur que j'ai jamais rencontré

Il manque une fermeture dans la salle de bain partagée avec d'autres hôtes . En raison de l'exubérance de la végétation le jardin peu entretenu cache le n* et l'accès à la maison

A genial and generous host maketh the stay

Alex is a genial and generous host and his personal stamp pervades the house. Eclectic and sumptuous decor, lashings of OJ and coffee with a full fresh- cooked breakfast and fascinating conversation. Answered all prior queries by return. Very easy to see all that Winchester has to offer by walking from this location and ideal for The Grange opera

Igazi angol tradíciókat őrző szállás,nagyon kedves házigazdával.

A szállás elhelyezkedése és az atmoszférája tökéletesen megfelelő volt. A szállásadó nagyon kedves barátságos és nyitott volt a vendégeire. Közel volt az egyetemhez és a város központjához egyaránt. Imádtam!

We really liked the location, both the elegant quiet street lined with beautiful Georgian houses and its easy walking distance from the city centre, cathedral etc. Alex our host was extremely friendly and helpful, our bedroom was comfortable and well equipped with everything we wanted. We were fascinated by all the paintings, antique furniture, ceramics, chandeliers, candelabra etc etc.

Only two minor grumbles. The dining room felt rather cluttered for breakfast and we were presented with our cooked breakfast as soon as we sat down with no time for any cereals or fruit.

Very comfortable and warm

The host was most welcoming,& helpful, particularly with the parking facilities. He was knowledgeable of the city too and made some good suggestions and recommendations, which we enjoyed.

The tea and coffee facilities in the room would be more welcoming if they were in their individual packaging. Not loose coffee etc. Kettle needed to be cleaned and their was dirt around the taps in the bathroom.

Beautiful period house, perfect stop over on our cycling trip to Winchester and back

Lovely very individual house, with warm friendly host, good room, fab breakfast, and somewhere to put our bikes, safely. Definitely recommended.

A very pleasant stay in a quirky and pleasant B&B

Alex was a very friendly and welcoming host, the location was a 5 minute walk to the centre of Winchester and we had a lovely full English breakfast in the morning.

Convenient and friendly. Fantastic breakfast.

The B&B was very nice and perfectly located near both the University and the town which was perfect for us as we went to visit our daughter who is currently studying there. Parking was on the street but free so we were able to leave our car there and walk into the city and back. Breakfast was very good and the room was eclectically decorated much to our taste. Alex, the host, was very pleasant and helpful.

The bed was very uncomfortable for me and could do with an upgrade. There was no en-suite which meant the toilet was at the end of the corridor and was shared with the other guests. We were expecting this but it had a unique method for flushing which sadly the other guests failed to do and so it stopped working. The lock was not the best on the door either.

A fabulous place to stay.

We had a very pleasant and interesting stay in a gorgeous room with a good breakfast in the morning. It was very quiet there in the evening. The host allowed us to leave our bags early and return to unpack in our room at the agreed time. The location is perfect for making your way to the Cathedral through Winchester`s fascinating streets- away from the main road. We took a no.1 bus from Southampton that drops you very close on St Cross Road.

A great weekend away

Our host was fantastic and made us feel right at home from the moment we arrived. The B&B is in a nice quiet area away from any loud traffic or noise but just over 5 minutes walk to the High Street, cathedral and many tourist attractions.

A haven in a quiet street minutes from the centre of Winchester, could not more highly recommend

Alex was the perfect host, he made you feel so welcome. His stunning Regency home was warm and clean and oh so stylish! The breakfast was delicious, served in an exquisite dining room with the upmost attention to detail, it completely exceeded our expectations. A parking permit was provided for the street outside which took all the stress out of our stay and the Cathedral and centre of town is a 5 minute stroll away. Thank you for your kind hospitality Alex, meeting you made our trip.

We thoroughly enjoyed our brief stay in Winchester. The accommodation was located in a quiet road of similarly elegant

It was beautiful with numerous interesting paintings and other wall hangings.

Nothing really. Our host was extremely courteous and helpful. Breakfasts were delicious and set us up nicely for our walks around Winchester. We look forward to coming back.

An elegant house within a short walk of the city centre - perfect for a short stay.

A very warm welcome by the proprietor, Alex into a very comfortable and elegant home. Warm, clean, comfortable with a very pleasing eclectic interior. Alex was very accommodating, the room was clean and the beds very comfortable, and we could choose our own time for breakfast, which was a delicious full english with toast, cereal and orange juice..

Lovely break in an interesting place.

Bed was comfortable. Breakfast was excellent. Location was perfect - very quiet but a short walk to the centre of town. Host very welcoming. We loved the quirky decor.

I had overlooked the fact that we would have to share a bathroom. It wasn't a problem but would have preferred an ensuite.

It's not a modern, cookie cutter hotel. That's why we chose it. Memorable stay and lovely host tho and that's what we look for.

The owner of the B&B was friendly and helpful. I would recommend it to my friends.

The cooked breakfast was lovely and the coffee was superb. The dining room was unusual with candelabra on the table, as was the art work in the room. The house was in an ideal situation to be able to walk easily into the town centre and Cathedral.

The TV was in line with the bed so that you couldn't actually watch it from the bed.

Comfortable and welcoming.

It was very comfortable, with beautiful paintings and decor. The room was comfortable and breakfast was lovely. Alex was very welcoming and helpful.

Only one issue was that there must have been an open fire in the house which was a bit smokey - ordinarily a lovely smell. My friend was not 100% well and the smoke affected her coughing through the night.

Warm and welcoming host, close to Winchester centre :)

A homely feel with a very hospitable host who was very accommodating. The host was happy to prepare breakfast at whatever time suited me and he even offered to book a table at a local restaurant for me, which I thought was really lovely. The location is brilliant and the host gave me a parking permit so I could park on the road free of charge near the hotel.

Some people won't like using a shared bathroom - it didn't bother me and I only had to wait a few minutes on one occasion. I would suggest having the toilet separate, but the style of the property might make that difficult.

Warm friendly and a great location!

Staying in Alex's accomodation was an absolute delight. The place itself is very interesting with beautiful paintings and furniture etc and sitting down to a full english (perfectly cooked) breakfast in itself was an absolute treat. Alex was the perfect host blending local knowledge (trying to book a table in a local pub / near by recommendations etc) as well as being friendly and welcoming.

We stayed one night when dropping son off at Uni. Great location. Very nice host. Great breakfast in fantastic breakfast room.

A stunning place to stay and well located

The property is an old building and is so full of character, a really relaxing place to be. There are two guest rooms - one with a double bed and one with twin beds - and one spacious shared bathroom. It was very clean and everything you needed was supplied (but take your own shower gel as there were no complimentary little bottles). The beds were exceptionally comfortable and the breakfast was excellent. The B&B is in a pretty and very quiet road, within walking distance from the train station and a short walk from the city centre and there were some really nice pub restaurants very close by. Absolutely perfect for our stay as we didn't have a car. Alex the host was very friendly and welcoming, and genuinely interested in his guests.

There wasn't anything that I didn't like. It was one of the nicest places I've ever stayed at.
