Staff were very friendly and made sure that the multiroom group were close together. We stayed in the annex and I have never stayed in such a noisy place. Doors banging all night. Went to breakfast and it was totally disorganised. We left after 10 mins and had a fantastic Breackfast at the Ivy up the road.

Rooms are ran down, cleanliness is not good, hair everywhere on the bathroom floor, bulbs missing in lamps, building smells musty as soon as you walk into reception. In major needs of a revamp. Expensive for what you get.
The staff is friendly

The hotel is very dated and in need of repair - whilst price is reasonable and staff helpful the environment is in need of a refurbishment . It could be a lovely hotel as it has a lot of history .

- Room was not very clean ... very dirty behind the bed.
- Room was not made for my last night there.
- Nobody was at the reception when I was checking out (even though they advertise 24 hour reception).
- No hot water during my last 2 days.
- Will not use for any future trip I am planning.

No one around to assist on arrival firstly. (1st person I encountered just said “someone will turn up shortly”)
Room was dated and not the cleanest I’ve seen.
It’s a pub with rooms above BUT the pub wasn’t open.
Cheap and “not so” cheerful I suppose

In real need of refurbishment and general maintenance upkeep , not a pleasurable experience

Hotel nice enough, staff friendly, but breakfast was a total letdown, very little left towards the end and not very nice.

The area is very convenient. Bang on central. Castle just across the road . The hotel itself need a whole new refurbishment. It’s slightly run down .

Being refurbished so restaurant was closed and some facilities lacking. But breakfast was good and the room was fine. The staff were excellent and very helpful and friendly.

Dated interior. We were away from the main building which left it feeling like a hostel rather than a hotel.

Very very tired hotel, 'garden view' was just weeds & a fence.
No resturant open atvtime of visit, breakfast was ok, but chairs fir example peeling their covers.
Clearly bought to be a rebuild but only paint brush being used duringvthe visit, the fundamentals are still old & need totsl referb to be like what Best Western hotel's used to be.

The stay was pleasant enough and the bedding was very soft . I only stayed one night so didn’t spend much time there. The check-in was very efficient, but there was no one there to check out. When they arrived they said to just leave the key and went off with some other guests. I didn’t get a chance to tell them that the shower was boiling hot, and couldn’t be turned down, or that the window latch didn’t work so couldn’t be closed properly.

It was good, but a few niggles.
Room was too hot, can’t be helped I suppose during a heatwave
Shower was low pressure
Other than that speedy, simple, nice

Absolutely wonderful staff. Everyone very friendly and eager to help. Wonderful old building if you are in the old hotel section. On the day of our stay the hotel had issues with cleaning staff absences. Cleanliness was an issue, but resolved by reception promptly.

A lovely, quirky old building. It was very clean. The staff were friendly, happy to help. I found plenty of parking in their rear car park. One of are mattresses was very flat. My partner didnt mind. We had a lovely expensive here. We would stay again.

Staff were really nice and attentive, though surprised we only had one bath towel for two guests, hotel is just a bit tired and in need of some TLC though the rooms are spotlessly clean. Location is wonderful, Tonbridge is a lovely town

The hotel is really good value. Compared to the cost of accommodation near Sevenoaks..
It's clean but needs updating. Rooms tired, with old furniture. Bar area is very nice. The staff are really helpful and pleasant. We would stay here again.

The hotel is like a slightly older lady who needs a bit of a make over. There were a few ‘niggly’ problems with the room eg dripping shower, but it was clean, good breakfast and staff were very obliging and friendly. I would stay again.

I was in a room in the old part of the hotel it had a lot of character was clean with a walk in shower. Staff were pleasant and friendly, location was great and the lowest price for a room in Tonbridge. I would stay there again.

Very comfortable. Only complaint is the number of stairs to get to the rooms caring luggage. Not suitable for the elderly even if not carrying luggage.

After arriving was put in room and was told it was quiet how wrong.
Door being slammed late at night and early morning.
I asked to be moved and then no hot water was told it would be an hour but know hot water from 7pm and all night and in the Morning.

A impromptu last minute booking due to the poor weather, the member of staff checking us in was prompt and polite.
The room was poorly lit and in need of an upgrade, the bathroom was also in a poor state of repair and a observation on this was passed to the management team.
The bar person, didn't know what glasses to serve a G&T in and gave it in a half pint glass :-(
Breakfast was freshly cooked and in good supply.

Had to move room 3 times!!! First room I was given had not been cleaned, 2nd room “number 30 is only to be given out as last resort” as there is nothing in it!!! 3rd room was at least “ready” for customers, facing the car park so extremely noisy. The restaurant is closed permanently and was not communicated to me before booking, how can you run a hotel without a restaurant? Very run down, grotty building. Water has 2 temperatures - hot or skin melting. Hotel needs to be shut down and refurbished. The only good thing about this place are the staff. They are a credit to the company. Not worth the money. 1 night was more than enough.

I was impressed with the cleanliness of The Rose & Crown Hotel, I found the staff friendly and extremely helpful. I will definitely be staying again.

The room was ok and staff friendly. The bar was a bit of a let down, sat at a table and all you could hear were young lads at the bar discussing wanking and despite it saying you can get a drink after midnight from the night porter it was refused just after 10. The barman just left and didn’t say a word

The Rose and Crown is very old: it is a Grade II listed building (read the entry about it online at British listed buildings). Above the entrance is a rare survivor: an inn sign with the arms of Frederick Prince of Wales and Princess Augusta, parents of the future George III (they married 1736, he died 1751). Usually inns had the arms of the monarch, in this case George II. The king and his son did not get along, and Frederick gathered a following of his own - so the innkeeper was taking sides in the royal standoff! The facade is a typical reserved Georgian brick design. Inside (reception, bar and restaurant) are timber beams of a much earlier building. So the inn got a face-lift c1736-50). Upstairs, the rooms are along corridors at different levels - the typical ramshackle construction of half-timbered buildings. The doors are unusually small, again as was often the case in earlier structures. So you know you are in a historic space. It won’t be up to modern hotel standards but if you insist, at the back is a wing built in the 1970s. In the historic block, the bathrooms have been renovated recently. I would hope the carpeting and the beds are next - I would charitably say they were acceptable. My Full English Breakfast was cooked fresh to order and was well up to standard. Staff were friendly. It was an interesting experience and reasonable at this price point.

It was very convenient for local amenities and parking was good. The room was adequate but cold because the heating didn't work. The temperature of the shower was fixed and the bathroom light was temperamental.

Parking available at the rear of the hotel. Friendly staff. Furnishings and decor dated and creaking floorboards but as you would expect for the age of the hotel. Full English buffet was tasty (warm plates would have been nice). Windows in room actually opened wide which was ideal for us as we prefer fresh cool air whilst sleeping (radiators and heated towel rail worked fine). Definitely bring earplugs rooms are not sound proofed to any degree. Bath was great, shower not so. Overall our 2 night stay was comfortable and in a great location on the high street to explore with the train station in walking distance.

Room not cleaned thoroughly.Found toe nails on carpet. Bath very slippery, No rubber shower matt in bath. my partner slipped twice getting out and hurt himself. Needs updating. Wasn't told we had to ask to stay in the rooms in the pub, we have stayed in the rooms in the pub before and had an excellent time. We stay again if we had room in pub.

Room smelt old, wardrobe fulling apart couldn’t use, not much in coffee basket food on the floor. Could feel the join of the two beds pushed together even with a zip,
Breakfast wasn’t great taste of washing up liquid on scrambled egg. Not much choice

A very third rate experience. Ripped & stained net curtains. Wallpaper coming off wall. Dirty hand basin (not cleaned from previous guest). Bathroom shelf not level - items fell off. Smeared mirrors and tiles. Generally grubby communal areas. Marked and stained furniture. Less than comfy beds. The only good thing was the location. Needs a complete overhaul and brought up to modern expectations. At £60 a night off season, an expensive & less than pleasant stay.
