Really really overpriced quite disappointing yo spend this much and have a room that resembles a student accommodation
The outdoor pool was nice the bathroom was new but the hotel as tired bedroom decor lacklustre
One staff member was rather rude
And lots of mess and debris
Really wanted to ask for a refund of some sort as it was so expensive

Top quality hotel with great character I. The heart of new forest
4.1
Very friendly & helpful staff. Fabulous outside pool area. Would highly recommend.
4.1
The hotel itself is lovely with great facilities. The outdoor pool is wonderful. The staff are friendly and helpful. Unfortunately the room we stayed in was shabby. On check out we spoke to the manager about the damaged wallpaper, the crack in the sink, cracks in the bathroom tiles and the low water pressure. He told us that the room was on the list for refurbishment but they still charged £220 (or near enough) for the room which I think is unacceptable especially as their website says ‘high quality’. We had already paid on arrival so the manager said he couldn’t refund us anything. Quite disappointed as the hotel is in a great location with lovely facilities.
4.1
Our stay was ok but for a four star hotel and for the price we paid we found the room small and it was quite run down. The food and drinks outside were lovely, it made a really enjoyable afternoon. The service was quite slow but that wasn’t a big deal.

Needed a chilled weekend and we couldn't have picked a better hotel for this.
Beautiful break.
4.1
Decent hotel but overpriced compared to other options we have stayed at in brockenhurst. Expedia rate is high and didn’t include breakfast. We were made to feel grateful for being fed 3 times despite the high price! Not friendly and welcoming and room small and dated but great location. Better value for money options exist.
4.1
Great stay. Really friendly staff proving excellent service.
Pool and outside facilities very family friendly and the hotel is in a wonderful setting.
Fantastic breakfast as well. Second visit and we will return.
4.1
Beautiful setting on edge of New Forest and still handy for a 15 min walk to local shops. A few minutes stroll and you are on to the forest routes and with the wild ponies.
Used gym and jacuzzi and indoor pool. Lovely lounge areas and fireplace to sit and read the paper and enjoy a morning coffee.
Fantastic to have a few car chargers for electric cars on site so quickly recharged.
Annoyingly the “eco-friendly” setting of gym machines mean they turn off and lose your data the moment you stop jogging/ pedalling-need to change that as should allow a 1 minute pause while take a drink.
Spa towels were thin NHS-style towels - expected something soft and fluffier!
TV did not work at all in our room which was a shame. Comfortable stay for a weekend. Easter picture trail for children in hotel.
4.1
Friendly staff but very tired room- towels dreadfully thin, bobbly and needing to be replaced, big chip in bath, headboards all worn. Old fashioned facilities- indoor pool not suitable for a proper swim due to depth and shape - more suitable for young children.
4.1
Nice surroundings

Amazing experience for a short stay at the hotel-everything was impeccable-breakfast,dinner,spa facilities, attention from staff
4.1
Gorgeous hotel in a beautiful location, short walk in to the village. Hotel staff were excellent, very friendly and accommodating. Breakfast was very good quality, and a great choice. Evening meal absolutely delicious.
Spa (aromatherapy massage) was fantastic. Pool area was a little tired - pool was a little colder than ideal, and the button to activate the jacuzzi didn’t seem to work. Also would recommend better pillows as the ones provided were a bit unyielding. But all in all, good value for money and a lovely experience, would definitely visit again.
4.1
Had a few days with my son at the Balmer Lawn and had a great time. Kid friendly but also respectful to other guests.
Outdoor facilities were great and the staff couldn’t do enough to make us welcome and catered for.
4.1
Pleasant with good service. Unfortunately the room was extremely hot and only a small oscillation fan was provided. Very disappointed that there was only 1 vegan option on the menu for the Berisford restaurant which meant we had to travel further afield to eat.
4.1
Very nice stay for a birthday getaway, lovely weather so the outside pool was a must, so nice and relaxing! Room was great, needs a little updating but would definitely stay here again!
4.1
We only stayed for one night to attend a wedding but it was really wonderful. The reception staff were so friendly and welcoming and also very helpful.
Our room was very comfortable, quite warm but electric fans are available . Our ensuite bathroom bigger then our one at home. We managed to fit in afternoon tea as well which was delicious
It was a treat to stay at Balmer Lawn and the location is beautiful
4.1
Staff at check in friendly. But not asked or informed about breakfast.
Cons - Room lacking dressing mirror, drawers for clothes hanging for outdoor coats and very limited wardrobe space. Attending for a wedding so felt this is a must for me and let’s the room down. Cold water tap let’s hardly any water out. Double bed is firm and not big enough for my six foot tall husband.
Room is dated and clearly had animals in it - bathroom not very clean as dusty ledges / sides.
Buffet breakfast- eggs were rubbery and inedible, bacon dried out so inedible, black pudding and hash browns cold. Fab big mushrooms tho luke-warm as were the tomatoes. Sausages ok. Some basic choice for continental offer. Ability to slice and cook your own toast.
Masks / gloves not required.
Pros - coffee tea making in room and opening windows as room is nice and warm. You can borrow wellies and the lounge and dining areas are comfortable and relaxed.
Dog friendly site - tho listening to a barking dog early morning is not my favourite way to wake.

Great first impression, great lasting impression. Genuinely made to feel very welcome.

1st room view dire.
Some staff lacked training: anticipating needs; initiative. Others very good.
We had to cajole afternoon tea as we had just missed time slot.
Very good family hotel.
Breakfast average. As a non pork eater I objected to paying extra for salmon.
Lunch outside very good.
4.1
Lovely hotel in good location. We only stayed one night but would have like to stay more to make most of facilities on offer. Tasty breakfast. We shall be back.
4.1
It is a very nice hotel but the pools are badly designed, the indoor one is an odd shape, and the outdoor one has shallow steps which cut the useable length down to about 6m, so it is not somewhere you can swim proper lengths, however they make it look on the website. it's really just for small kids to splash about, and very nice from that point of view.
4.1
The hotel has great facilities, staff were amazing but the room we had was quite stuffy and warm even though the weather was not. With the amount we've paid, we've probably would expect a little bit more.
4.1
a lot of £ for an average stay

Great stay - reception manager (Phil from Cork) could not have been more helpful and sorted out a problem we had. Excellent stay, wonderful staff, great location
4.1
Our stay was so good that we instantly booked up to return for our anniversary in October. We have stayed all over the World in hotels and I honestly don't think we have ever received such great service. The Reception Manager Phillip Bunney was particularly attentive and helpful. The room was very good too, hotel was very clean, location great, amenities very good only one minor negative was that the bar and restaurants were a little on the pricey side but wasn't too much of a bother. Already looking forward to going back.
4.1
The rooms were so hot so i was unable to sleep despite opening windows wide and lying on top not under any covers so i felt tired. Pool needs updating outside one
4.1
The hotel has put in place good procedures for social distancing and dealing with COVID 19, however these need time to bed in. There are many occasions when the staff seem unsure of processes and although there were many staff on duty we waited each time we required attention. The room was small and hot but had all we needed. Overall a nice stay, restaurant was excellent and we would return.
4.1
Excellent staff very friendly and helpful. Food was lovely, although they should include bread rolls in their continental breakfast. Unfortunately their Doombar beer was not very good tasted like the pipes needed cleaning. Lovely spa treatments, I would recommend staying there to anyone. Room was very nice and clean but the view was a bit mundane.
4.1
Very good stay, good covid measures in place. Staff very helpful and friendly. Great location next 5o the foest, and close to restaurants.
4.1
The hotel is in a wonderful location and has great facilities. The food is excellent and there is a wonderful atmosphere.
However, the staff really made our stay, working in
4.1
Generally a good hotel with a mix of traditional and contemporary decor. Food - breakfast and dinner superb. Visit let down by an average room for the quality of the hotel/price with scaffolding immediately outside window, items from previous guest left in bathroom by mistake, no wardrobe and shower verging on unusable as temparature very high. Pool area average - very shallow and looking a bit tired. In summary, quite a good hotel let down by staff oversights. Other hotels offer much better value/quality for money. Highly recommend a lunch of meal there, however!

loved everything about the place apart from the hard pillows!
4.1
Good position in the forest . Staff polite and helpful but sometimes misunderstood .
Room clean and well presented but very small, Storage space minimal. Did have forest view though.
4.1
Beautiful location with excellent facilities. The service was exceptional & every effort was made to accommodate our dog.
I will definitely stay at the hotel again.
4.1
Experienced extremely rude service from the bartender on more than one occasion. The hotel held a party that we decided not to attend. It would have been nice to receive the same level of service and politeness considering we were still paying guests. Very disappointing and I previously had such fond memories of this hotel.

Stayed at the Balmer Lawn hotel this weekend, although it wasn't entirely a bad stay there are improvements that could be made for the price you pay.
I had booked three standard rooms and we found one of the rooms that had been allocated was tiny in comparison to the other two rooms we had, we found it was actually priced online as a budget room.
Went to the front desk to talk to the lady at reception and we were told my friends could not be moved to another room as the hotel was now full and the room had recently been renovated so had now been graded as a standard room and was no longer a budget room. The receptionist made no offer of any kind of refund, to refund the difference between the cost of the budget room and standard room or no gesture of maybe a free breakfast the next day. All we got was a cold, stand offish response of, 'you'll have to speak to my manager.' My friends had to call down to reception twice asking to speak to the manager and an hour later they finally spoke to him. He agreed to refund the difference and offered free breakfast too.
With regards to my room, if you're paying almost £200 per night you don't expect to find a gaping hole in the window frame when the window is actually closed and locked. Had it been the height of winter or a stormy, windy night it would've been freezing in the room and the wind would be howling through the gap between the window frame and window. Also, there was a notice saying the air conditioning unit was out of order.
4.1
Great location - first room offered was tiny bu staff responded to our concerns straight away . Staff were brilliant throughout our stay . Not convinced of 4 stars - looking a bit tired in places, but perhaps my expectations were too high .

We arrived on Wednesday and stayed until Saturday at this hotel. On arrival we were greeted by a very efficient receptionist, and were quickly registered and given our key. Our room was a good size and very well appointed. It was very clean and comfortable. We ate in the lounge two evenings and the food was very good. The barman Adam was very nice and always found time to speak to us each evening while we were there. The breakfast was very good with plenty of choice of hot food or a continental buffet. The hotel is well situated to access the New Forest, and we were able to enjoy the scenery without travelling too far. I enjoyed using the swimming pool at the hotel, and found it clean and well maintained. All in all we had a very relaxing stay and look forward to returning in the future

I booked a superior room but I have stayed in better B&B Guest Houses. The room was quite large and was very clean but the furnishings were not what I would expect for a 4 star hotell. The bed was fine, the chairs were dining chars,no comfort. The rest were 3 missmatched peices that had seen better days and were not in very good condition.
Breakfast is not included if you book through Expedia but you can still have it at £12.95 pppd.
