Property is quite excellent and the house has everything you would want and more it is a bit remote to get to any food stores etc but smith mountain area is not overly populated which makes it extra nice to try to get away from the hustle and grind of DC. Overall very nice house but unfortunately the next door neighbor would camp her 3 small dogs on her back deck and they would bark incessantly at any movement in our yard so trying to enjoy the yard or the dock at sail away was less then relaxing or tolerable for that matter. I politely went over and spoke with the neighbor after day 2 and she did bring them in for a couple of days but then they were back out at the end of the week. Although we loved the house we won’t be going back for that reason. I also called vacasa to see what they could do and they said they can’t do anything unless it’s after hours, shame spending so much money on this house and being stuck inside

Home located on a great quiet cove. Every room has its own balcony/deck with a view of the lake. Kitchen very functional and had a large propane grill. We had a great time and looking forward to coming back again!

This was our third time staying at this home and we are always so sad to say goodbye. Our kids call it “our lake house” and I think they like it even better than our real house! The recent kitchen renovations make it even better. This time the couch smelled REALLY bad though - possibly like a pet had accidents on it, or maybe someone just laid on the couch after a long day of fishing without showering? I thought it smelled exactly like dog poop but my husband said it was catfish bait, so who knows! It was so bad that we all had to cover the couch in blankets and towels to tolerate the smell. I let Vacasa know and hopefully the couch is professionally cleaned or possibly replaced. We will likely stay here again because we love the house, but we’ll definitely confirm that the couch has been cleaned before booking.

The house was amazing. Decks for all rooms, gorgeous lake views, kitchen was well equipped, amazing game room and dock

Our stay at the lake cabin was perfect. We needed a break from the daily grind, and this beautiful lake house with its peaceful setting and stunning views was just what the doctor ordered. We are excited about booking this property again in the future.

Great home with spectacular views and plenty of things to keep you busy. Very clean, easy to get to local restaurants and activities. Will definitely be booking this home again when we go to SML.

Sail away is an outstanding home. Everything was well stocked and the kitchen was particularly lovely to cook in, due to having plenty of necessary kitchen items and having the drawers l labeled. We loved the dock, the cozy fireplace and the general ambiance. We will be back! Thank you!

We have been coming to Smith Mountain Lake for about a decade now, and this is by far the nicest house we have ever stayed at. The furnishings are lovely, the kitchen is well appointed, and the toys for the lake are in excellent shape. The stack of extra life as in variety of sizes is a really nice touch. The only downside is that cleaning misses a lot, like under beds, the headboards, and under the furniture it’s pretty dirty/dusty. But that’s pretty small potatoes because the overall impact of the house is spectacular. We will be renting it again!

Loved the private beach where our little ones and dog could just wade in; perfect! Haven’t had this set-up for any of our past SML trips. Plus, a nice gradual walk down to the lakeside; no daunting steps for the 70-yr.-olds.

Great views, easy to find. About 20 min away from a grocery store. Peaceful and quiet in December. Well equipped kitchen. Wood burning fireplace on main floor & gas fireplace in basement. Ping pong/billiards table was a nice amenity.

Family stayed here for second year in a row, for the Thanksgiving holiday. Well stocked kitchen, house is clean and well-laid out with room for everyone, and the yard, beach area and dock are terrific places for the dogs to play (and people to hang out on the dock). We didn't use the "toys" but there are paddleboards, kayaks and a canoe. We would stay here again!

The location was great, the House was great, wonderful dock and amenities. Fees where a bit excessive and lead to higher than expected per night stay. This is the only thing preventing a five-star rating.

We enjoyed spending our 20th wedding anniversary here together with our children. The view, lake, hot tub, entertainment in the home were awesome. Thank you for making our stay a memorable one.
