The home was cozy and convenient to some beautiful views and right next door to the Lava Lava Beach Club.

They say location is everything and this was no exception. Steps from the sand, a view of the beach/ocean from the patio, beach chairs, MORE than enough beach towels, a little ice chest for our outings, tons of storage space for clothes and items, an amazing welcome gift of snacks with the best pineapple we have ever had (and one of our party lived on Oahu for 3 years), beautiful gardens, strong reliable wifi, and I’m sure I’m missing something. Half of our party is always freezing, the other half is always hot, this room would have satisfied Goldilocks. We set the air conditioner when we arrived and didn’t have to adjust it once. We are already looking for a booking to go back next year and plan to stay at the Islander on the Beach. ** We were given 3/4 a roll of toilet paper and were told we’d have to buy our own if we needed more, odd but no reason to take any stars off.

We loved the location of this resort. We wish the bar at the pool was open earlier than 3 pm. They need more lounges at the pool. The room was damp all the time and smelled musty. The a/c didn’t really work :(

Great Location!! Unfortunately the mattress (closest to kitchenette) really needs to be replaced - it dips terribly. And there’s a bad musty-mildew smell the whole time we were there (ran AC and opened door for fresh air - but it really needs fans/dehumidifier)

The property is great! Right on the beach with a pool and hot tub. The room does not have a full kitchen but has a microwave, mini-fridge and toaster and the property has grills you can use, so it worked out great. The location in Kapa`a is great because you can easily get to both the north and south shore. There is also a market and some shops within walking distance which is super convenient. Room was clean and even came with some towels and boogie boards which was a nice surprise.

Great place to stay! The room is pretty standard. Beds could be a little more comfortable but we slept well! Kitchen is small but had what we needed. One of the fridges was not working. There was a ln electric griddle that we used once but everything was great. The ground level is nice because you can walk out and play on the lawn and walk to the beach and pool easily. Pool and spa are nice! Beach is pretty but we did not swim in front of the property. We were told it is reef. We enjoyed our stay

This is our 11th stay at islander on the beach. Would not recommend room 121. The room needs a total fresh ingredients up. The curtain rods were all rated out. The beds were old and very uncomfortable! I rented it for 4 and had very few plates and glasses. Went to bbq and no spatula. This room had nothing extra like the other rooms we stayed in. Please spend 20 bucks and replace toilet seat. This is the first time I have ever written a review. I felt I must!

The resort is located in the perfect location for touring Kauai , never more than 60 minutes from even the furthest area you wish to visit, often only 15. The room is on the ground floor with sunrise views from the lanai (porch). It’s a spacious “motel” style room with an amply stocked kitchenette including microwave, toaster and electric fry pan. One bed has a great foam topper but the other needs the same. Bathroom needs a bit of tlc but everything was clean and functional. Great value.

This time share was in a great location near Kapaa and right by the beach. The property was nice, and pool/hot tub were close and enjoyable. Ice machine is close to the room but you can`t hear it so that`s great! A/C worked well and the place is spacious. The toilet seat is fixed, so don`t worry about previous reviews saying there is an issue. I understand what people are saying about the worn out mattresses, but honestly with the foam they`ve put on top myself and my husband slept fine on them. The place could use a little TLC/updating but honestly for the price and location I think it`s just fine for a place at the beach! They do need to remove the old (broken) fridge that is still in the unit, replace the blender that didn`t work and replace the door mat with one that isn`t falling apart, but those are small things that could easily be done.

This property is located in a very good location, easily commutable to either north or south shore. It`s right on the beach so walk along the beach and watching sunrise in the morning are both beautiful. As everyone else mentioned, the property is quite outdated and our bath tub was clogged when we arrived. When asked to get it fixed, it was taken care of but it was clogged again within a day. The room has a musty smell. The owner was able to provide toiletries when asked and also took care of the bathtub when informed. When we got locked out as we were asked to leave the keys for maintenance to look into the bathtub, we realized as we got back that we locked ourselves out and they charged us $25 for a replacement key. Management was trying to help us to get a master key and let us enter in our room but somehow owner was not letting the management open the room with the master key. Also, that`s when we were informed that there were 2 keys to the room but we were only given 1 set of the keys. After arguing for good 10-15 minutes, owner finally decided to refund the cost for replacement key as we were only given one set of key and our bathtub was also clogged upon arrival.

I wasn`t going to write a review but since this keeps popping up..... 1) A/C needs attention. it could not take the humidity out of the room; the bed linens were always damp, our clothes in the drawers would be damp. 2) Bathroom fan did not work at all. 3) Hair dryer did not work. 4) Due to the extended dampness in the room, mold/fungus was detected in both of us upon returning home. 5) curtains were installed backwards to how the sliding door opens; we had to fight the curtains every time we were to open the sliding door. 6) toaster was broke so we had to fish out the bread when making toast. 7) the A/C wall unit had not been cleaned for so long I had to wipe off the muck from the vent blades before it dripped on my pillow. 8) Pest control service could stand to be called (I work pest control back home so...) 9) one complaint with the Islander is when renting these privately owned rooms, they don`t let you use their laundry or other amenities like hotels around the area. The Islander is our least favorite property. As we are not ones to complain about trifle things like so many `high-brow` travelers, I did call our on-island contact and she assured me that this room would get looking into and it would be taken off the list until it was brought up to par. Time will tell. But for this stay.. this room was the worst we ever had on the island.

If you like uncomfortable bed, extreme humidity and mold on the matress cover, this is the place for you! We left before the end of our trip to book somewhere else after we found a cockroach...However, this is a very nice spot

If room 121 is an indication, rooms on this large property are individually owned, i.e., people on-site work for a management company. The location was great. The pool and grounds were well-tended. Room 121, on the other hand, left a lot to be desired. Upon arrival, we noticed that the bedding was damp, the curtain rods were rusted over, lampshade wire was also rusted and had leaked into the lampshade. Several drawer handles were broken, the screen door was ripped, and there was dust (not just a sprinkling, years-old dust that had collected and stuck) on top of several things: the air conditioner, a wall air freshener that`s so old it`s falling apart, an alarm system motion sensor (what is that for? in a one-room property?). We asked our island contact for a dehumidifier. She was responsive and tried, but the owners, who live on the mainland and probably have not seen their property in years, did not/could not provide it. To top it off, the bathtub drain did not work. Thankfully, maintenance was able to fix it. However, by the end of our 5-night stay, the drain was not working well again. Stay in this property because of its location - it`s near restaurants, stores, and adventure companies. But don`t stay in room 121.

We have stayed in many rooms at The Islander, for the past 20 years. I love The Islander! But Room 121 needs updating. We`ve stayed in it before. The curtains are past due. The outer drape is gone, so light comes into the room from Kauai Coast rooms. They are ripped, hanging down and you can hardly close them. The replacement refrigerator is too small for the opening and the freezer part leaks so you have to empty the tray set below it several times a day or it runs water all over what is in the fridge. I had read that the beds were getting uncomfortable so I bought a foam pad at Walmart on the way. That made my bed okay, the other bed was uncomfortable. The bathtub drained fine this time but the sink in the bathroom took a long time to drain. I found the room to be fairly clean just not maintained at all. The location of The Islander is perfect for getting around the island and near shopping. The grounds are still beautiful. The pool area is nice, the pool bar was always busy. This room just needs updating.

Everything about this room was horrible. From the moment we arrived after check in and had to wait outside our room for 30 mins for them to finish cleaning, to having the cleaning people come back in twice while we are using the restroom and getting change and shouting on their phone looking for something. The “ocean view” is basically non existent. The curtains just stop at the second pane of the back door, so being on the first floor and having an entire pane open for the world to see in and light to come in is HORRIBLE.

I was very disappointed in my stay the room had a mildew smell in the cupboards ,the curtains were falling down and hard to close. The toilet seat had so many chips out of it that it was disgusting and the shower mount to the wall was coming off and the best part was when the shower didn`t drain properly and the dirty water just sat there .. When we emailed the lady it took days to get back to us. we were there for five days . Im not a fussy person but this would never bring me back to this place .The mattress were so old you could feel the springs. I even took photos but no where to post them I travel a lot and this one is a hard NO.
