Overall everything was very very good
5.0
There were three of us there for Picklecon. It was an inexpensive Uber ride back and forth from the convention center
The only issue we had with this place was the fact that we had to carry our luggage up 2 flights of stairs. First was from the garage entrance to the first floor of the home and the second was to the bedrooms on the second floor
Having said that, we will be back next year and plan on renting the same location

I want to start by saying that the host Jim is good at communicating and providing hospitality, however the rental needs severe maintenance and/or updates.
When I viewed pictures of this rental when I was booking, it looked nice and the reviews were pretty good, so I went for it.
Upon arriving, some light sources had lightbulbs that were burnt out or didn’t work at all. The bedroom furniture looks nice but the beds sound and feel like they could fall apart from under you. There is a broken stair leading to the upstairs that almost caused us to trip several times with our infant. I noticed an exposed wire in the living room and there is a mildew-ish kinda smell throughout the home but especially in the garage that leads to the house. There is nothing wrong with an older home, however it needs to be updated or at least keep up with.
All in all, I enjoyed my trip to KC and Jim’s hospitality, however we pretty much did all we could to avoid going back to the rental until it was time to sleep.

This unit met our needs perfectly. It’s very well- located and had a good (unfenced) yard for our dog.

Host was accommodating and arranged to allow us to arrive early. Great location for our needs. This is an older 2 story duplex with some steep stairs, and a very narrow driveway, interior and exterior pictures are outdated on the VRBO website. Host does not provide code for access but met us at property to provide garage door opener.

We enjoyed our stay.

The owner lives a couple doors over, so will meet you to let you in. The place is a little dated and the stairs are loud going up and down them. Shower is a little small, but it works and the water was nice and hot! All went well, I have no issues or complaints. I made sure to clean everything up before I left.

My son and I came down for the Big 12 basketball tournament. The place is close to downtown and the location is close to everything we needed.
Jim, the owner, is great. He met us at the house upon arrival. He is great about responding to you if you need anything.
I would stay here again in future.

Were in town for a conference and had what we needed with the house! Good communication with the host, and it was clean!

I took this unit because it was reasonably priced for 2 bedrooms and good ratings. I'm glad I made that decision. It's an older well maintained 2 story duplex with some steep stairs. Decent location and helpful owner.

You can tell they put a lot of attention into this home and it’s very welcoming. I stayed for 4 weeks. Zero complaints. The owner is a good guy and communicates well.

Host was very easy to work with and super positive. The property is close to all "hot" spots in Kansas City and near major interstates.
Great for pets too!

It was a great place for a quick family trip to KC to celebrate the season.

This was a great location for what we needed. The home was clean. It was unusual from previous experiences in that i was not given a code for access. The owner met us at the property to show us around and gave us a garage door opener to come and go. During our stay and a lock issue the owner explained it was because he did not have a key to the property. This was surprising to us. I do suggest any females renting this property to bring a mirror to use to get ready (hair and make-up) as there is only 1 small mirror in the bathroom. The beds were comfortable however the main bedroom was very dim. While there was a ceiling fan in that bedroom with a light, there was no way to turn it on that we could locate. Instead we needed to use 2 basic desk lamps on the night stands. One if which did not work.
All in all we still had a good weekend, but there were definite surprises.

We were within 10 minutes of almost everything we wanted to do! Great location. There are lots of stairs so not for small children but otherwise was clean and the owner was super nice and helpful!

That’s about all that was above “okay”. It’s several blocks from Roanoke Park, but a short walk to 39th street.

My husband and I traveled to the Kansas City area to explore the city and catch a Chiefs game. We chose this property based on the reviews and location and were not disappointed at all. Jim met us upon check in and was extremely friendly and helpful. The property was clean and in a nice quiet neighborhood. We would easily recommend this property to family and friends and would definitely stay here again in the future.

We stayed with our daughter for the Chiefs Game.

This was by far the most affordable listing in this area. It's a little older but kept clean. We felt safe in the neighborhood, and it was a short drive to everything we wanted to do. The owner was very friendly. Would stay here again.

Outstanding house close to KU and downtown. Definitely would stay again! Host, Jim, was super nice and went above an beyond to ensure we had a pleasant stay and was super easy to communicate with when we had questions! Beds were super comfortable and the kitchen was well stocked and clean. Would highly recommend this place anyone looking to travel to KC for a weekend or an extended stay!

I loved staying here with all the live plants and art work on the walls. Although the home is older it is good condition and charming. The home was comfortable and the bedrooms roomy. The only negative about the home is only for those who can not use stairs. I would definitely stay here again.

Jim was the perfect host, meeting us on arrival and giving a tour. The house was great, so nice and homey with a good-sized backyard. The neighborhood was quiet and well located in the city. We all got a good night's sleep in the most comfortable beds. It was a lovely home to spend the weekend and I'm sure we'll book again on our next stay in KC.
