About this house rental
This peaceful and stylish cottage is perfectly located right at the heart of this beautiful and historic city of Wells and is a perfect base for exploring the city and the many attractions that Somerset has to offer.
Glastonbury, Cheddar, Weston-super-Mare, Bath and Bristol are our neighbors with in easy reach.
Supermarkets
Waitrose is about 3 minutes walk and Tesco is about 5 minutes walk. There is a rapid EV charger at Morrisons and fast chargers at Tescos. All other shops and cafes, pubs and restaurants 200 yards from the front door
Local Restaurants
Loads available within few minutes walking distance . The Bishops Eye bar, Ask and Cafe 21 are all in the Market Place. The cafe in the Bishops Palace is lovely for tea and cake (no entry ticket required). The Good Earth is a Wells institution, providing excellent value delicious vegetarian whole food lunches for at least 40 years. The Rugantino italian restaurant on the Cathedral Green has also maintained a solid reputation for at least half a century. Fish and Chips are best at Tuckers, opposite the entrance to Tescos. Cafe 21 has excellent food and service with inside seating and on sunny days in the market square.
Local Attractions
Within walking distance you have the Cathedral, Bishop's Palace and Gardens, and the historic centre including Vicars' Close. There are busy markets on Wednesday and Saturday selling a lot of artisan local foods and world foods plus crafts. There are regular beautiful concerts in the Cathedral. Cedars Hall - which is a new state of the art concert hall, is only a 4 minute walk away, and has a genuinely varied programme of world class musicians performing a whole range of music from ancient to modern. Wells Museum is small but charming and there are regular sung services in the Cathedral. The Film Centre Cinema has a whole range of films for such a small venue, and is a local treasure. The Little Theatre has great family friendly shows performed by keen amateur cast members. Seasonal attractions include: Somerset Arts Works Wells Festival of Literature Wells Comedy festival Wells Food Festival Walking: there are many excellent walks ranging from 25 minutes up to several hours, directly from the house including walks to Ebbor Gorge, Wookey Hole, Priddy, and Glastonbury. Close to Wells - approx 30 minutes drive Wookey Hole Caves Cheddar Gorge and Caves, Aardvark Adventures - Outdoor Activities and Zip Wiring Cheddar Watersports will hire boats to visitors, and also run training courses: see bcyc.org.uk Open air swimming pool at Greenbank in Street. Clarks village is located in Street too and is a designer outlet shopping venue. Indoor swimming and Gym at Wells Leisure Centre. There are also many other excellent walking locations on the Mendip Hills within half-an-hour's drive including the amazing Wavering Down and Crook Peak walk. For the bird watchers there is Shapwick Nature Reserve a 15 minute drive or Westhay both excellent for a bike ridding. Ethicurean garden and restaurant at Wrington The Somerset levels are easily explored by bicycle. Daytrips and other Attractions (up to an hour away) National Trust properties include: Montacute, Lytes Cary, Tyntesfeild, and (furthest away) Stourhead. Fleet Air Arm Museum The Newt Gardens and Restaurant - south of Castle Cary. Hauser and Wirth gallery -Bruton Coast: Clevedon, Weston super Mare and Portishead. The south coast at Bridport is 90 minutes drive. Towns to visit: Frome, Bruton, Bath, Bristol (There are regular busses to Bath and Bristol) Clarkes Village shopping at Street.

There are regular buses to Glastonbury, Bath and Bristol. All buses arrive and depart from the bus station, but you can catch buses going to Bath or Bristol nearer the house. Look on google maps to find the exact bus stops.

So much character! A real find.

Perfect little cottage in the middle of wells, beautifully decorated, súper confortable and clean( the only thing to say is that the stairs going to the top floor aren’t for everyone) definitely will recommend… will not disappoint ..
