Extremely interesting building and location.
Very good restaurant both in terms of food and service.

Beautiful hotel, very friendly staff, with a great pub for the evening. Definitely will return.
Easy access to Bath but the public bus is unfortunately unreliable so a taxi is recommended.

Lovely stay, room was very comfortable.
All staff members were friendly, polite and gone above and beyond to try help and serve you .
Lovely touch with complementary drinks from the bar when checking in and also a complimentary drink of tea or coffee to take away on yr departure.
Beautiful building and hotel full of character and history.
Great beer garden with great views over the church and cricket field.

Nice quirky room. Lovely staff.

Very different from hotels in cities. Patio, bar, restaurant had lots of well behaved dogs! Assume most were local. Patio looks down on large fields. Before sunset people walking, playing futbol.
Room was unique, worried wife would not like it. But she loved it. Spacious, old, stairs appear challenging but not a problem. Did get help moving our too heavy bags.
20 minute drive to Bath and there is a bus if you don’t want to drive.

Very old property sympathetically restored. Staff great and food excellent.

Great staff, fabulous pub with wonderful view from the garden, and very good food. Our room faced the road which was quite busy so a bit noisy.

They thought of everything. The staff were excellent. The rooms were beautiful. Even the soaps smelled amazing. Just a gorgeous place to be

Amazing inn, I have never stayed anywhere so friendly, unique, clean and caring

Characterful, historic inn with lots of interesting features and set in beautiful countryside South of Bath. Well-renovated, comfortable and quiet bedrooms. It has the potential to be a four-star gem. Unfortunately that wasn't our experience.
We arrived and struggled to find Reception: signs for this pointed to a busy bar. Nobody greeted us or gave directions; the check-in point turned out to be in a dining room and several staff passed by but we were kept waiting. The bed was comfortable and the bed room was well-renovated, but small with a tiny bathroom and cramped shower cubicle. The breakfast menu looked excellent as others have reported, but delivery did not match expectations while the service was gruff and rude. Staff pushed past us into the dining room. Muzak was piped through the speakers. Supposedly "flat white" coffee was weak and tasteless. Fruit juice appeared to be out of a cheap supermarket carton. Eggs Benedict came on stale untoasted muffins, shakshuka was watery and served with overcooked eggs; a question about the preparation time was brushed off because "you're not in a rush". When requesting water, one tiny glass was brought for one of us but not the other; when asking for bread, no honey was available and we had to choose either jam or marmalade.

Stayed for one night in the most beautiful of rooms. The mattress and pillows were perfect. Food was excellent and the staff were exceptional. I only have one bugbear, I couldn’t sleep because of the vibrating, droning sound which I think was coming from below my room, that stopped finally around 2am. But that being said I still can’t wait to return.

Staff were fantastic, food and drink excellent, room was spotlessly clean and well appointed.

Magical. Almost flawless! We had a great time - the rooms were great, clean, old but modern if that makes sense. Water pressure was great for showers which I wasn't expecting! Food was amazing as well - the venison was so tender, the breakfasts were fantastic and the staff were very accommodating and friendly. Lola especially was exceptionally helpful and friendly. We will definitely be staying here on our next trip to Bath. Really I was surprised at how good the stay was.

The team leader was always able to identify on what was needed to be done in a calm and polite manner , this reflecting on having a good team .

We stayed for one night in August in the main building Coombe/King Charles room up the wobbly stairs! What a lovely room, all beams & low doors - very historic. We slept like logs - the bed was very comfortable! It was lovely to stay in such an beautiful building and room. We had a lovely evening dinner there & a fabulous breakfast. Overall very good value for money. The location was quiet and we enjoyed a walk around the lovely village the next morning before leaving.

Beautiful centuries-old building with quirky and charming details. The staff was very kind and knowledgeable. It felt safe and quiet in a small quaint village. Very short and pleasant drive to Bath, Stonehenge, and stunning countryside.

A beautiful room that was full of character and had lots of lovely extra touches. The staff were friendly and professional, while the breakfast was delicious and set us up perfectly for the day!

Overall very good and recommended. Only issue i would highlight was ampunt noise coming from Dungeon function room Saturday evening.
We had room above and impossible getting sleep with noise, thankfully it quietened down around 10.30pm.
Did hit head on a beam once as i forgot to duck.

What can I say… FABULOUS!!!! What a stay, staff were so kind, helpful and pleasant. When our room wasn’t what we were expecting they changed us with no questions asked. Fantastic service and the food was so lovely. Definitely recommend this place and will be returning!

The George Inn and the Plaine is an amazing property that has served beer for over 700 years. It has retained a lot of original features. The restaurant was excellent and the staff were really super. Every restaurant should have a Lola! Lovely room with a good, if small, bathroom. The Plaine is a little noisy due to the traffic at peak times but we had a really, really super time here and will be back. Great location to get to many places, including Bath. The area is beautiful and the village lovely. I kept thinking I was in a Tudor film-set. Again, the staff were excellent and so helpful. Stayed in another hotel belonging to the brewery and it wasn't a patch on the George, not even close. Delightful place to be.
