A bit dated but still good value for travellers

We just spent one night there but we slept very well. The bed super comfortable, in the room the temperature was cooler which was perfect during the summer. I loved that they have bathtub. Next morning the breakfast was so varied breakfast and tasty.
The stuff doesn’t really speak in English, so the communication was so difficult. The kettle didn’t work well in the room.

The accommodation and the breakfast completely met our expectation. The evening meal emphatically did not.
Evening meal in the restaurant was unacceptable. Slow service as insufficient staff to cope with the number of diners. My food over cooked and served not hot. The response to my complaint was .... 'it's your problem, you should have complained before eating it. You must pay the full amount or my only recourse as the site manager would be to call the Gendarmes'.

Clean, comfortable bed. We could take our dog at an extra cost.
A little too far out of Avallon centre for us to walk.

Very comfortable and quiet place to stay. The good example of the Campanile style.
There was no InternetThe staff we contacted for help were unable to solve the problem or even report what happened.

Location close to the motorway.
The whole experience. You normally know what you will get from a Campanile, but this one was below par. Troubles with key card into the room, one light not working in the room. On the morning of our booking, we had an email welcoming us from the "local team" inviting us to discover the culinary delights of their restaurant. As we had a long drive that day, we were grateful that we could get a meal on-site. However, when we arrived we were told the restaurant was closed. There was a pretty unsympathetic response from staff at reception. Breakfast was OK, but we have had better at other hotels in the group. Overall this hotel gave the impression of being mentally and physically depressed.

The Booking.com site said "They speak English!". Well, definitely better than I speak French, but we got along. It took a while for me to figure out, but I think I was in a handicapped accessible room. The bathroom was huge, and not a hint of a shower curtain or anything to keep the shower spray from getting into every bit of the bathroom. But, it worked, good pressure, lots of hot water. I have been traveling for a couple of weeks, staying a night and moving on. This is the first hotel that really looks like a chain hotel in the USA. That's not bad, just an observation.

The rooms were of a good standard and the air conditioning worked well
Location was a bit remote.

Still waiting for a reply to my email: questions for a future stay.

Quiet and good parking
There was confusion over booking and payment. The room needed a little TLC, bit worn.

very near highway, very kind staff, they left a key on the window since we were coming late in the night. it is a motel like hotel with doors on the street but very clean, comfortable and with water cooker and complimentary coffee and tea in every room (even if you don’t take breakfast). that was the only hotel in France that we visited that offered free coffee in the room.

Good placement away from the highway. Very convenient to have the restaurant and breakfast in the facility.
beds are always small (even if double). Mattresses and pillows of very cheap quality and not so relaxing

Good stopover location, with easy access from autoroute. Food and fuel options closeby. Clean room and good facilities.

As in many Campanile hotels, groundfloor rooms are directly accessible from the outside (own front door, parking in front of the room, which is very comfortable for taking luggage inside). Reception and restaurant in separate building. Most of the staff were friendly, polite and efficient (with one exception, see below)
The breakfast is very good value for money, but on the second day there were no more spoons available and when I asked one of the staff, she made me (and probably others) wait for at least 10 minutes and when I saw her doing several other things first, I thought she had forgotten so I kindly asked again but got an unfriendly reaction. When she finally filled the spoon basket she said something like "I told you I was going to bring them", which is totally unacceptable, even if the workload must be considerable because of all the additional sanitary measures nowadays.

Decent breakfast, very poor coffee though, great to be able to check out late.
Bed covers were not clean, poor hygene in the room, one of the towels was dirty, no bin in the room.
