About this cabin rental
Blue Canoe Cabin is located in north central Arkansas in the heart of the Middle Buffalo River area, just steps away from Buffalo National River, near Gilbert, Arkansas, and includes over 20 acres of forest and fields with mountain views, unobstructed night time sky viewing, abundant wildlife, and privacy. This property is close to hiking, floating, swimming, fishing and nature watching activities. The cabin is ideal for a smaller family, two couples or a guys or girls weekend as it can sleep up to six people comfortably with one queen bed, one full bed, one sleeper loveseat full bed and one full bathroom. The cabin is pet friendly.
Blue Canoe Cabin was completely remodeled in 2021 and boasts modern amenities, comfort and thoughtful upgrades throughout. There are large windows everywhere, providing views in all directions to the hills and woods just outside. The downstairs was reconstructed with accessibility in mind. The lower level is wheelchair accessible with wide doorways and ADA features in the bathroom, including a low profile shower basin. There is a wheelchair accessible ramp to access the front deck and cabin entry. The cabin itself contains approximately 1000 sf on two levels. Additionally, there is generous outdoor living space which includes a 150 sf screened in porch facing southeast with sunrise views, a huge 375 sf covered front porch with seating and dining table which faces northwest for spectacular sunset views and a detached 320 sf covered pavilion with outstanding views of Pilot Mountain. The cabin floor plan includes:
- One private bedroom downstairs (full sized bed)
- Open concept full kitchen and living room downstairs
- One private bathroom with shower and laundry facilities downstairs
- A semi-private sleeping loft upstairs (queen bed) with a large sitting area and sleeper loveseat (full bed)
This is the ideal location to serve as your home base to explore the middle Buffalo River, especially if your plans include a float trip through the family friendly stretch of river between Tyler Bend and Gilbert. The Buffalo River is less than 1/2 mile as the crow flies from the cabin back door. The river is so close you will feel it here in the weather, the foggy mornings, the dew on the ground, seeing the herons and kingfishers passing overhead to and from the river. The Buffalo National River park boundary borders the property for 1/4 mile, providing direct foot access to the park. In fact, it's possible to hike to Shine Eye in 45 minutes or to Gilbert in about 1 hour directly from the cabin, enjoying river bluff views and historic sites in the forest as you hike along the old Buffalo River Trail. From the moment we entered the property, we were in love. Complete privacy and 3 deers met us. Great proximity for river floats. Cabin had everything you would need for the trip. Will definitely try to stay here again

Great communication and thorough details from David and Kristin leading up to our stay. Then upon arrival the house was thoughtfully furnished and prepared for every need. From the beautiful art, books, games, labeled lights switches, twinkle lights, stargazing spots, and so many other things. Our family really enjoyed having such a relaxing spot to meet for a sibling birthday weekend. Looking forward to staying again for more sunsets and time on the Buffalo!

We had an amazing experience at the Blue Canoe Cabin. The whole family was able to relax and create amazing memories together. The booking process was easy, the cabin homey and inviting, and overall the experience was amazing. Would definitely recommend.

We normally do beach vacations, which aren’t my favorite, but they’re easy. For a few years now, we’ve been saying we would like to go to Arkansas to do hiking and canoeing/kayaking, but wanted to wait until our younger two children were a little older and could handle the outdoor activities. This cabin and the location did not disappoint. We were a short drive from the Buffalo River and did a one day float trip from Tyler Bend to Gilbert, which was so much fun. We also took the children to see two different waterfalls that were definitely worth the drive. Plenty of wildlife was visible while driving up the driveway to the cabin itself including turkeys and deer. Definitely recommend staying here.

Our family had a wonderful time staying at the Blue Canoe Cabin! We especially enjoyed the front covered deck with beautiful views of the ridge,
especially at sunset. There is a fire pit that’s perfect for making s’mores out front and a covered patio area for grilling. The property is extremely well maintained with lots of attention to detail. We had fun finding frogs at night and watching the birds with nests fly around the cabin. My father in law saw a
deer and a fawn from the back porch one morning. The location borders the Buffalo National Forest area and is behind a gate, so it’s very private. We floated the river down to Gilbert and liked that it’s a short drive from there back to the cabin. The host, David, was very responsive and helpful-even left us some cookies to enjoy! We’d definitely like to return someday!

One of the best rentals. Overly well prepared vacation home with everything you need. Hosts are helpful and respond quickly. The location within minutes of the river is great as well. Would 100% stay here again (probably will)

This place is unbelievable and the best cabin we have ever stayed at. The stars at night is worth the whole trip.
David is awesome and very attentive to detail

I had a wonderful time with my boyfriend and dog exploring the Buffalo River region while staying in this cabin. The property is in a fantastic location and the hosts provided so much attention to detail, from wood for the firepit to coffee and s'mores makings. Communication was great, and check-in and check-out were easy. I would definitely go again and highly recommend it!

Blue Canoe Cabin was a wonderful gem in the wilderness. We had a great time at the cabin, playing horseshoes and exploring the property. The wildlife was an amazing to view and hearing all the wild birds was awesome. We took the scenic roads of Hwy 7 and 123. They were so much fun to drive. The views were amazing. The cabin has everything that you will need for any stay. Thank you again for letting us stay at your property. We so truly enjoyed ourselves

We absolutely loved our stay at blue canoe cabin. It was so incredibly clean. Check in directions we’re clear and easy and the owners were so helpful. They had the perfect touches to the cabin that made our trip even more special. The location is perfect for outdoor activities. You are close to the buffalo river, as well as a short drive from Branson and other attractions. There are many hikes within walking distance of the cabin. If I could give 10 stars I would!

A beautful peice of open property in the Ozarks, with a light-filled cabin, both immaculate, we felt at home.
The beautiful Autumn colors, the stars, the leaves, the natural quiet.

This place has everything you need and every detail is laid out so and very user friendly. Although it has a rustic look, the place is a newer custom build with old materials that you can learn about from the home’s history book. The property is large and gives you a lot of privacy and security with a gate at the road. The back of the property connects to the buffalo national forest and trails. Both the home and pavilion have amazing views of hills in the distance. Too much details to list. Perfect place to stay while visiting the river or just to escape and have a cozy private place. My kids were sad their was no Wi-Fi but they needed a break from that.

It’s hard to imagine a better VRBO experience. The place looks even nicer than the pictures. It’s isolated, clean, newly renovated, and beautiful. David (the host) is responsive and a great resource for information about the area. This is the difference in renting from a host instead of hotel. Plenty of gorgeous nature in all directions.

I hesitate leaving a review that uses the word “perfect” because I am greedy and want this cabin to be available to us for our next visit! Seriously-this home helped create the best memories and was clearly designed for a break from the busy hubbub and is ideal for family bonding. Even though the youngest age was 16 in our group, this home is good for all ages, with handicap accessible features throughout and games and dvds for all ages. Very fun loft area with a full bed and sofa sleeper. Thoughtful/artistic decor and design. Grilling/eating under the pavilion, sipping early morning coffee on the porch, hiking from the property, close access to kayaking, watching the stars and making s’mores (thank you for the kit) around the fire pit, falling asleep to the clear sky from the loft windows, hearing nothing but the rustle of leaves and wildlife-this place is perfect. The hosts could not have done a better job with communication and setting the home up for fun and functionality-even with a recycling bin, washer/dryer, racks for our shoes so we didn’t track in the wilderness-they thought of everything. Please don’t rent this VRBO if you are the kind of person who doesn’t put your grocery cart up-it is far too exceptional to be disrespected and the owners are fantastic people. We hadn’t even left before my family started planning the next visit. Absolutely lovely in every way.

The cabin is adorable. So many personal touches. The star viewing at night was incredible! So much to do in the national forest. The cabin owner was very informative about the things to do and what to look for in the area. We would absolutely go back!

This was our first trip as a family to the Buffalo River and this place was top notch. The location to the river and other activities can’t be beat if you’re looking to float the middle section of the river. The cabin is very private and the peacefulness of watching the sunsets and star gazing is something we’ll never forget. The space was perfect for our family of four and all the amenities were great. Very clean and the owners go above and beyond to make sure your stay is perfect. We hope to be back again someday!

First of all... The Cabin itself is spectacular, spacious, secluded, and SO PEACEFUL.
It was a perfect setting for all the beautiful sunsets my soul got to take in. My family enjoyed every aspects of this cabin and it's location. House is spacious and comfortable hosted 2 adults, 2 pre-teens, and a teenager. They mostly enjoyed the big yard while playing wiffleball and picking berries. Our host Mr. David was very helpful with any and all questioned we had about the house and location. He even mailed us some items we eneded up leaving in cabin when we left. We truly appreciated it. We enjoyed the short drive to Grinders Ferry for the boys to swim and enjoy 3/4 days we were in the area. It was also a convenient location from Gilbert's Landing the day we floated the river. Overall the house and property were absolutely perfect and peaceful for our stay. We will definitely be back again.

The pictures of this cabin don't do it justice. It's way more beautiful in person. The hosts, David and Kristin, we're super friendly, and there anytime we had a question about anything. They thought about everything when they stocked the cabin, every we thought, "oh no, we need something," it was usually already in the cabin. Beautiful sunsets, beautiful dark, starry nights and beautiful storms, everything was so enjoyable. We swam and floated the Buffalo with a local float service. Had a blast!

We absolutely loved everything about our stay at Blue Canoe! The cabin was perfect for 4 adults and two 12 year olds (who preferred the sleeper sofa and window seat in the loft to the tent they planned to sleep in). We enjoyed the views, fire pit, porch, birds, bunnies, wildflowers. Plenty of open space outside to run around and explore. Everything was clean and well stocked with lots of extras in case we forgot anything. Even a s’mores kit! Owners are incredibly responsive and nice! I really can’t express how much we loved it there! Save me a spot for next spring!

Our family's stay here was absolutely amazing! David and Kristin are wonderful hosts. Communication with them was effortless and they provided us with the best suggestions about places to visit and activities in the area. The cabin is cozy but not small and is very well maintained. The property is breath-taking! There is plenty of room for any outdoor activity and the surrounding nature is beautiful. Looking forward to returning!
