We had an amazing time at this home! The kitchen was excellent for our group of 8 to cook a big dinner and just hang out in. We spent very night enjoying the hot tub. It was a short drive to downtown Asheville. All of us thought it would be an adorable place in winter too!

Great place to gather with family. Enjoyed the large kitchen and hot tub. Great proximity to hiking and downtown Asheville.

My family of 8 including 5 adults and 3 kids from ages 8-12 stayed in this home for the week. While it is about 20 minutes from downtown Asheville, it is at a great spot to travel to other nearby destinations as well. Highly recommend this house for a large group as the downstairs kitchen and living spaces are very spacious. The back porch is ideal for sitting out on and watching the rain storms pass. The driveway to enter the house is a little rough and steep, so if you do not have an AWD vehicle it could be difficult to enter. All in all I would recommend for a nice outdoorsy vacation and would stay again!

It was clean overall. Peaceful setting. Enjoyed the covered deck and hot tub. It had everything we needed.

We had such a wonderful stay at LazyBear! The house and property were beautiful, very clean and super comfy. Our host made sure we had everything we needed. I will stay there again and again!

Simple property without a lot of extras. I’d compare it to a college apartment, but it did the trick. We had 5 couples and enjoyed sitting at the long kitchen table playing games or in the basement with the ping pong table. It was really close to local breweries & eateries which was nice. Kitchen wasn’t well stocked, but had essentials, but definitely keep that in mind if you plan on eating there on vacay. We felt like the living room lacked some “home away from home” vibes with no end tables, lamps, or throw blankets. Beds were comfy; water pressure was a little iffy; but we had a good time on our long weekend!

Our stay was great! We were able to get in earlier than expected! And everything was very clean! We had issues getting Ubers and the driveway was a little steeper than expected but overall we had a great trip and the home was perfect for our group!

Absolutely beautiful home and looks just like the photos. The beds are super comfortable and the hot tub was easy to use and my favorite part! The only thing I will say, is the driveway was gravel, and you have to go up a hill, my car didn’t have a problem but my sister’s car had a slight issue and her tires spun a little. Other than that, I will absolutely stay here again!

The property was enjoyable over all for our short weekend! We come up for a weekend family getaway. This home is for sure used primarily as a rental. Very inexpensive finishes and furnishings. Multiple light bulbs burnt out, multiple hot tub jets didn't work, tons of scuffs and paint chips on the walls. However the most frustrating things were that 2 of the 3 toilet seats were broke and that the water pressure was inadequate. The games in the basement were a huge hit for the kids! If some things were updated and fixed on this home we would for sure consider coming back! Also, FYI. Don’t go up the neighbors drive.. she’s not too friendly! Stay left on the gravel road!

Had a great stay. Very clean and accommodating property. They specifically bought a high chair so we didn't have to bring one. Would recommend.

This is a great house! We enjoyed our stay there, the hot tub and game room were an added plus. Will say the road getting there is a little rough, but you are in the mountains. With a crowd, having the large kitchen and living areas is a plus. We also enjoyed the porch and Asheville’s great weather. Perfect for a large family.

We had a great experience with this property all the way through the process. The home was great for our weekend in Asheville and lacrosse tournament. It was perfectly located with easy access to everything we needed.

The house was perfect for our weekend trip! Everything was very clean. The outside space and hot tub was great and was used every day. The area feels secluded, which we really liked. It can take some time to connect to an uber/lyft, but we were always able to get one. The shower pressure is not the best for a group of women, but that is probably the only complaint. I would definitely recommend staying here if you're a big group looking for somewhere a little more secluded to stay.

The house was perfect for a girls trip. Very clean. About a 15 minute drive into Asheville which was very easy. Great porch for hanging out as well.
We also had a group called Friends & Neighbors come in for a cooking class/catered dinner for dinner one night and the kitchen is perfect for that if you are looking for something different while there. Their contact info is [email protected].
Host was very communicative as well. Would absolutely stay in this house again.

This was a great house for a group of friends! Plenty of room and beds. The hot tub and games in the garage were a great touch. Short drive to Asheville, we had no issues securing ubers or Lyfts. Definitely would recommend this to others visiting the area.

The house was clean and the hot tub was great. The internet was too slow to watch TV so we used our phone as a hot spot. The property manager told us they were planning to install star link and the box was on site in the closet. The house was well stocked with things like salt, pepper, oil, coffee, etc. More than I’ve seen in other houses. They also don’t expect much cleanup by the renter when leaving. We would stay here again.

The house is gorgeous, spacious and clean. Backwoods feel with the convenience of being close enough to enjoy downtown Asheville.

We had 8 family members who gathered from different parts of the country for the Christmas/Hanukah holiday. The Lazy Bear was large enough to give privacy to family members and was comfortable and convenient. We enjoyed local breweries, restaurants, the Biltmore Estate, and shopping was about a 20 minute drive. The very end of the drive to the house was short, but tricky, on hilly, gravel roads, so it has to be done carefully. The house was comfortable and generally well equipped. A few suggestions: We missed having a colander or large strainer in the kitchen. The sitting arrangement around the dining room table should be improved. There were not enough chairs, and the bench at the table was not comfortable. Also, the barstools in the kitchen were unstable, and several family members, both adults and children, fell off them. The biggest problem was the internet which was spotty. We had out own chrome box and Netflix accounts, but we kept losing the movies/programs we wanted to watch and had to keep restarting the program. Several family members enjoyed the hot tub and table tennis table in the basement. Some of the problems could be corrected, and the Lazy Bear would be perfect.Written by Barbara A from Rockville, MD

The house was exactly as described. Everything was very clean and in good working conditions. Linens and towels were fresh and beds were comfy WiFi was a little slow for streaming but was a non issue because we had cell service. We had a family of four and my sister and there was more than enough room. When showering, pressure is best if you use one shower one a time for water pressure.
Kitchen has a nutra bullet, instant pot type cooker and drip coffee pot. If you are particular about cooking, bring specialty items.
When approaching the house on the gravel path, choose the middle path.
DTA was about 15 min away, as were the outlets, arboretum; BRP about 5 min and 30 min to Hendersonville.
Will stay here again.

We had a group of friends get together to celebrate a 40th birthday. We were looking for a place with 5 bedrooms and enough space to accommodate several people. Check-in was easy and the house was fairly easy to find. Thank goodness for the big sign that points directly to the house. The house was extremely clean when we arrived. It still smells new! The master has the most space with a huge bathroom. Unfortunately that leaves the other 3 bedrooms upstairs to share one very small bathroom. We did enjoy the back porch each morning while drinking coffee. The hot tub was also great. Our biggest complaint would be that there is only one tv in the house and we couldn’t get it to work. It came on, but everything we tried to watch buffered the whole time. We were eventually able to use a hotspot from a phone to watch a football game. All of the guys were very disappointed they missed so many games throughout the day. They did enjoy cooking wings on the grill and hanging out though.
Overall we really enjoyed our trip. Thank you!

This was a beautiful place to stay. We really enjoyed the hot tub and ping pong. Only suggestion would be to upgrade the linens. The sheets and towels were scratchy and sheets wouldn't stay hooked on the mattress. Thank you for a wonderful trip!

Thanks for hosting my family and I for a beautiful weekend in a scenic setting close to downtown Asheville. The place was stocked, clean, and spacious. We also enjoyed the hot tub and comfortable beds. Hope to visit again.

This mountain house is in a quiet, peaceful location, with a lot to do and see within about a 20 minute drive. It was spacious, very clean, and everything seemed brand new. Getting to it is a little tricky, but once you're there, you know what to expect.

We stayed at Lazy Bear in the first week of August and truly enjoyed our visit there! The house was immaculate and it was beautifully furnished and had every possible thing one could need. We spent most of our time playing fun games like poker, corn hole and ping-pong.
Especially loved taking our morning coffee and sitting out on the deck or soaking in the hot tub and enjoying the view. It was cool in the mornings, even in August!
Would definitely recommend a short hike nearby - Bearwallow Mountain trail, great views of Blue Ridge atop the mountain.
We hope to come again!
