We had the best room in the Impact Beach House - the one with sea view and own bathroom. The view and the balcony were great. The house was clean and staff were making an effort to keep the shared areas (kitchen, dining/ breakfast area clean)
The noise level in our room was almost unbearable. There is a two-lane road passing right next to the house, and a traffic light in addition. Especially the starting of the motorbikes, and the drivers playing with the gas were noisy. I measured on average 80-90 decibel in the room when the windows were open. Sleeping was only possible with ear plugs, ideally with closed windows.
In addition, the hostel played music during the day and until 10 pm, and the basses reached up to our room. So if there for once was less street noise, we could hear the basses. The breakfast/dining area was also really noisy (reflection from the bare walls).

A cama era muito confortável. Privacidade do quarto.

Character property, well maintained, daily cleaning is done throughout. Breakfast buffet is fine, not sure why there were some negative comments for that, it's a hostel not a gourmet cafe. Beaches (Praia Poça, Tamariz) are v.close via pedestrian underpass. Train station close by.
Busy road noise on one side and train tracks on the other. Poor WiFi signal even on the ground floor, no repeaters so no signal at all in the basement bedrooms.
Atmosphere can be somewhat mixed, institutional vibe due to the main business being fully catered & organised volunteering holidays for late teens/students in groups. The hostel business is secondary. Lounge area is tiny and in the dark basement.
Labelled food policy is normal but is strictly enforced daily with no common sense applied. Any individually unlabelled item, even one surrounded by other fully labelled items, or with a labelled cover, is removed from the fridge or a cupboard, either directly thrown away or can be put on an unrefrigerated open shelf to spoil. This happened twice in 2 days, despite assurances after the first time. Beggars belief. I must have written 20+ labels in a few days. Supplying food boxes would solve this.
Bizarre DIY narrow dorm beds with 'loud' solid side and end panels so if you brush against one while in bed you wake up the person in the adjacent bed. And they can unintentionally wake you too by doing the same 🤔
Attitude to customer service is mixed, depends on which staff you speak to.

The place is nice and in good location. I felt safe and in good company which i appreciate. They are hosting a young volunteering program so its a very lively and young environment, so it can be loud at times depending where are you sleeping. So it depends rhe kind of environment one prefers. Bathrooms where clean. Beds with the curtain where nice, private and comfortable
Food ! Not worth it. It says breakfast included but its very poor. Fruit very old. Just instant coffee... it wss really bad.
You can take meals in there for ten euro but not worth in any way, better eating outside, cheaper and way better.

Location is convenient to beaches and train. Cleaning staff was very good.
The hostel has a very busy street on one side and commuter train tracks on the other. It was impossible to sleep because of the noise and also the other guests partied until 2am. I didn't complain about the party noise because the traffic noise was worse.
